The Year: 2173

The people of the world watched as the three helio-planes flew in the air. Cassandra’s voice narrated the scene. “As you can see, the defendants have been separated from each other, and they are being transported to different locations. I’m being told that Marco’s helio-plane is landing in the Rocky Mountains. Let us take a closer look at what is happening on the ground.”

Once the sleek hybrid of a helicopter-airplane landed, the side door opened, and two Social Keepers pushed him out. Marco landed face first in a deep pile of snow. He sat up and wiped the snow from his face as he was met with a bitter cross-wind blowing across the peak. He turned around to see the Social Keeper toss a bag from the helio-plane. The door closed, and the helio-plane took off. Marco, with futility, waved his hands for them to come back. His figure got smaller and smaller as the helio-plane flew farther away.

The second helio-plane landed in the plains of Texas.

“I think this is Margaret’s—ah yes, it is,” Cassandra said as the door opened revealing Margaret, the two Social Keepers, and several others. “Well, well, what do we have here?” Cassandra questioned at the sight of the others. The Social Keepers threw Margaret and the three other people from the helio-plane. It was clear that her companions were physically and mentally disabled. Margaret immediately got up and tended to the three, ignoring the Social Keepers’ departure.

“Well, that leaves Thatcher!” Cassandra exclaimed. Her helio-plane was seen circling a field located in the middle of a dense forest. Once it landed the door opened, and she got out of her own accord. The Social Keeper handed her a few objects and said, laughing, “I hope these help you out here!” She took the Holy Bible, the Constitution of the United States of America, and her favorite books,
The Hobbit
and
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
, from him.

As the helio-plane flew away, she stood there in the silence of the forest, realizing for the first time in her life, she was completely alone.

Cassandra Williams, congratulating Jonathan on-air for the ingenious mystery punishment, pushed him to find out what was next.

“Cassandra, we are going to watch all four of the defendants and see how true freedom works out for them.”

“Four?”

“Yes, four. 345 was granted total freedom, and he too is out there, alone and free,” he said sarcastically. The screen cut to him walking in a tropical rainforest.

“You see, Cassandra, my sister and the others want to be free, so in the benevolence of the State, it has given them exactly what they asked for. Now, it is up to them to survive. Tune in next week for the first edition of
The Reality of Freedom
.”
