“Is everything okay?”

“It’s the heat,” Kyr excused. “She’s still not used to my country’s weather.”

But even with that faux pas, he still didn’t take pity on her, his fingers actually thrusting faster and harder until she was gripping the edge of the table, biting her lip hard as she came.

In her wedding reception.

With hundreds of people in the same room with her.

When it was over, he calmly pulled his fingers out and uncurled his arm from her waist. And to her appalled fascination, he actually licked his fingers clean, in front of everyone.

“Kyr!” She didn’t know what she wanted to do first – kill him or herself.

“Relax, psaraki. They’ll only think I enjoyed our dessert so much.”

But he was wrong.

When they woke up late in the afternoon the next day, Kyr having made love to his bride the entire night, the first thing that greeted them was the viral image of the billionaire, uncurling his arm from her waist, hand emerging from under the table, before he started licking his fingers.

All this, in a slow-motion loop, with a telling caption:
No plates on the table, dessert done half a minute ago. We wonder what’s put that cat-ate-the-cream look on Kyrillos Gazis’ face? Something come…ly maybe?

“Oh God, Kyr!”

But her husband for one day only laughed, pulling her back to bed and making love to her again.

Chapter Two

Three months had passed since their wedding, and there were times when Kyr would wake up in the middle of night, see his wife curled next to him in innocent slumber, and he would wonder to himself how his life had ended up like this.

Had he done the right thing, marrying her?

But then his wife would somehow sense every time he had these doubts, either sleepily reaching for him or stirring to consciousness, and even when she was groggy, she would have those stars in her eyes—

That look that said she would
never
leave him, like the other woman had.

And Kyr would be saved by the look.

Things changed, however, on one December night, with Kyr humoring his wife on her insistence that they personally decorate the Christmas tree in his home, a task that he used to relegate to his staff in the previous years.

Bending down to hang a Christmas ball on the lower branches, he found a rectangular, silver-shaped box under the tree, with his name on the card.

He straightened, box in his hand, and he looked at his wife wryly. “You succeeded in surprising me.”

She giggled. “You haven’t seen anything yet.”

At her insistence, he unwrapped her gift, expecting a watch or a pen, but instead he found something else entirely.

A pregnant kit, and it was positive.

Kyr’s eyes were stunned when they met Pollyanna’s.

“We’re having a baby?” he whispered hoarsely.

Her heart nearly stopped beating, and she gulped, whispering back, “Yes?”
Would he be pleased? Would he think it was too soon? Would he—

Her husband suddenly hauled her to him, and her eyes closed in sheer relief as his arms closed about her tightly.

Oh.

Fingers curling against the silk of his shirt, she asked shakily, “You’re happy?”

Kyr’s arms tightened around her, and her eyes stung when she felt his lips graze the top of her head. And when she heard him say with quiet sincerity, “More than I thought possible,” she realized that it was possible for hearts to actually threaten to break because of too much happiness.

Squeezing her eyes shut, she hugged her husband tightly, praying,
Dear Lord, let it be like this.

And then there was no time to think, Kyr sweeping her up in his arms and carrying her to their bedroom. Laying her on their vast bed, he was noticeably more gentle than usual as he undressed her, and after taking off his own clothes, he joined her in bed, his lips almost reverent as he kissed every inch of her.

When he took her, he was almost painfully slow and achingly tender, and she couldn’t help stop her eyes from stinging again.
He loved her so much,
Pollyanna thought, and it was humbling. It didn’t matter if he never said the words and probably never would. Some men just didn’t express themselves that way, and that was okay. What mattered was how Kyr showed his love for her in other ways.

Her eyes drifting shut, she surrendered herself to her husband’s passion, her cries filling the room when her pleasure reached its peak. Above her, she felt her husband’s powerful body shudder, and she wrapped her arms around his neck, wanting him as close to her possible. He came inside her, and the feeling of his seed filling her up made Pollyanna tremble anew. No matter how many times they made love, she didn’t think she’d ever stop feeling so blown away by how
good
it felt, knowing that she had made him come.

When he was able to move, he moved to his side, leaning his weight on one elbow while placing his hand carefully on her womb.

His wife stirred, and she turned on her side, facing him. “Kyr?”

He met her questioning eyes soberly. “I don’t know how to put it in words…” His gaze went back to her womb, which didn’t yet have any telltale bump. “But the knowledge that you have my baby growing inside you…” He stroked her womb with care, wondering if it was too soon to feel the baby kick. “It’s frightening, because I don’t want anything to happen to you, but…I gotta admit, it’s sexy as hell, too.”

She turned red, but even so she retorted, “I hope you still think that if I ever become so big I’m unable to see my ankles.”

Pulling his hand away reluctantly, he propped his head on his hand, saying, “Always,
psaraki.

The sexy grin that accompanied the words made her heart skip a beat.
Oh. Dear. Lord.
Three months married, and this Greek billionaire of hers could still make her feel so hot just by grinning.

“I know that look of yours,” he murmured, his gaze sly.

Drat.
She hurriedly wiped all expression from her face, answering, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

But Kyr only smirked. “You’re thinking…” His deep, Greek-accented voice took on a falsetto note.
“Oh gosh, my husband’s so hot.”

She burst into peals of giggles even as she protested, “You know, I don’t talk like that.”

“Oh?” He raised a brow and adopted a Southern drawl, saying, “Dear Lord, but he’s so hot.”

She shook her head, clutching her stomach. “You’re so mean.” But they both knew the impression had been spot-on. When her laughter died, she found herself looking into the intense, hazel eyes of her husband.

They smiled at each other simultaneously.

“Are you really happy about it?” she whispered. “You’re the only one among your friends who’s married, and now you’re going to be a dad—”

He stopped her worries by covering her mouth with his, and when he lifted his head, he said simply, “You having my child is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.”

She fought back tears, seeing that he did mean it.

He paused then asked seriously, “What about you?”

Her eyes widened. “Me? Why wouldn’t I be happy?”

“Are you still thinking of going back to school in your condition?”

Oh.

She hadn’t really thought that far ahead, and Pollyanna was now confused. She still wanted to finish college, badly, but was it right to do that, considering she was now going to have a baby?

“Pregnant women go to work all the time,” she said cautiously. “I think it’s the same with attending to school, right?”

“I’d rather you postpone going to school until you give birth, but I’ll leave the decision to you.” Noticing the unhappy frown on her face, he scolded her, “Stop frowning,
psaraki.
That’s bad for the baby.”

A helpless smile broke over her lips. “I don’t think that’s been scientifically proven yet.”

“Just go to sleep and stop arguing.” He pulled her close and pressed her face to his chest.

She snuggled close to him obediently, and eyes closing, she mumbled, “I love you, Kyr.”

Even now, he couldn’t say it, but that was okay.

The next day, Kyr and Pollyanna flew to the mainland by helicopter in order to meet with an obstetrician. While both of them decided not to ask about the baby’s sex, Pollyanna still opted for an ultrasound, just to be sure that there wasn’t anything wrong with her unborn child.

And that was when they had their next best news: Pollyanna was going to have twins.

An hour later, and both Kyr and Pollyanna were still shell shocked as they emerged from the doctor’s private clinic. Only when they were on board and the chopper had taken off did they look at each other—

Their faces broke into smiles at the same time.

“Twins,” she gasped, incredulous and awed.

“Twins,” he confirmed gravely, but his eyes were tender as they rested on her face. Shaking his head, he bent down and kissed her. “Thank you,” he whispered against her lips. “I promised myself that I’ll make you the happiest girl on earth, but you’ve beaten me to it. Right now, I feel like I’m on the top of the world, psaraki.”

“Oh, Kyr.” She threw her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. “Just when I think you’re incurably mean, you say the sweetest—ouch!” But she was laughing even as he pinched her cheeks.

“Show respect to your husband, woman,” he mock growled, scowling down at her.

“I love you…meanie.”

His eyes narrowed.

Uh-oh,
Pollyanna thought, gulping.

“If you want me to be mean,” he purred, “then so be it.” And before she could react, he was already kissing her, so passionately that it made her toes curl hard. Conscious that they were not alone, she tried pushing him away, but this only made her husband kiss her harder.

Only when the chopper landed did Kyr lift his head, and he grinned at the look on her face. “Was that mean enough for you?”

Taking her hand, he exercised great care as he helped her out. Walking hand in hand, he asked, “Is it okay with you, what the doctor suggested?”

Knowing exactly what he was talking about, she said simply, “Yes.” Because of her age and the fact that she was carrying twins, the doctor had suggested she have as much bed rest. Pollyanna had agreed, knowing that by doing so it also meant she would have to delay her plans to finish college.

“Is it really that important to you?” Kyr forced himself to ask.

She blinked up at him. “Finishing school?”

He nodded. “Do you see yourself as a career woman?”

She bit her lip. “Would you have a problem if I did?”

He said slowly, “I’m not sure.”

She thought about telling him that they were living in modern times now, and that millions of women had no problems balancing family and career. But in the end, she couldn’t. For Pollyanna was not just young and in love, but she was also unconsciously in awe of her husband. To her eyes, there was nothing that Kyrillos Gazis could do bad, and any woman would kill to have her husband.

And yet he married me,
she thought.

Of all the women in the world, he had chosen to marry Pollyanna.

She could not risk doing anything that might make her lose him.

With that thought in mind, she told Kyr lightly, “Then you’re lucky I’m not a career woman.” He visibly relaxed at her words, and she knew she had said the right words…even if they didn’t feel completely right.

Chapter Three

Much had been said about pregnancy making women bloom, giving them a glowing, radiant beauty that women who weren’t expecting would never achieve, no matter how much makeup they used.

Pollyanna wasn’t one of them.
