“That’s nice,” he murmured. “I like watching you.”
She smiled. No more inhibitions. Her fingers danced along her clit, stimulating, stroking, arousing.
“Don’t stop,” he said, and pressed two fingers inside her.
Her breath caught.
“That’s it,” he growled. “Watching you pleasure yourself is making me so hard it hurts.”
Audrey rested her fingers on either side and toggled her clit. She was so wet she heard the sound of her own desire.
“Mm, yes, a little faster,” he prompted. “And a little taste.” His tongue swept along her swollen nub while he pumped another finger inside. He pumped and licked and sucked her clit.
Hard and then harder.
Audrey barely registered what was happening. All she heard was the word come and she came and came and came. She’d barely finished the ride when he entered her, his cock filling her to the hilt. He thrust hard and fierce, driving her back toward the edge. Slick with sweat, she rode it out until they climaxed together.
Dominic pulled her into him. “I think that’s sufficient proof for now.”
She didn’t care if he saw the
Cheshire
grin across her face.
“We should try to get some rest,” he added. “You never know when I’m going to wake you up and love your body all over again.”
Her body quivered at his words. How could she possibly sleep now?
Chapter Twelve
The golden light of the sun heated her skin through the window. She’d slept like a baby after the third time he’d awakened her. But she’d surprised him by taking his cock into her mouth. Audrey couldn’t wait to do everything with him, couldn’t wait to explore all the ways that brought pleasure to their bodies. She loved the way he’d serenaded her with pennies.
A thoughtful gesture that deepened her affection for him.
Her hand smoothed along the sheets behind her, to find she was alone. Audrey turned over to confirm the other side of the bed was empty. Disappointment crept in until she heard a muffled sound behind her. She turned, sighing at the figure in the doorway. Dominic stood with his shoulder against the frame, handsome as ever in a tight pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt. A sheepish grin spread across his face.
Audrey sat up, clutching the sheets to her chest. “Did you go somewhere?”
He entered the room, one hand behind his back. “I needed to run a quick errand and didn’t want to bother you. Did you miss me?”
Curious to what he was hiding she asked, “If I say yes will I get a reward?”
“As a matter of fact, yes you will.”
“Okay. Then yes. I missed you like crazy.”
From behind his back he pulled out a plate with a large slice of cheesecake on it. “I know it’s early, but I wanted to get you one anyway.”
Some women liked jewelry. Some women liked fancy new clothes.
She
loved cheesecake. Audrey put her hands to her mouth, doing her best not to start crying. “Are you kidding me? There’s no such thing as a bad time for cheesecake. Thank you so much.”
He rested the plate in her hand and roughly pulled his shirt over his head and slunk in beside her.
Audrey took a bite and moaned. “This is so good. It’s from the café, isn’t it?”
“Yep.
Wanted to get you the best.”
She decided not to mention that the best cheesecake came from
Maine
. “Did you want a bite?”
“Nah, you go ahead. I had a muffin so I’m good for now.”
“You’re more than good,” she said and savored another bite.
He unbuttoned his jeans and kicked them off onto the floor.
Dominic stroked her arm while she finished up the delicious treat.
“Did you go anywhere else?”
“I bought you a fire extinguisher. I wanted to get it done and out of the way so we could focus on what to do about your store. It will be stressful enough without adding to it.”
“That’s thoughtful of you. I appreciate it.”
He shrugged.
“I’m serious.” She gave him a pensive look. “I can’t imagine what my night would’ve been like without you to help take my mind off things.”
“I’m glad it worked. You can tell me that I’m right another time.”
Audrey placed the empty plate on the nightstand and nestled into him. “Don’t hold your breath.”
His husky laugh made her belly flutter.
He reached to her ear and flipped his hand, revealing a shiny new penny between his fingers.
“I’ve got one left,” he said with a wink.
“Penny for your thoughts.”
“Hmm.
I was thinking that you’ve helped me to see the world in a different light.”
“Damn I’m good,” he joked.
“But seriously, how so?”
“I never wanted to share parts of my life with anyone. I’m not sure why, but I thought if I kept it all bottled up inside myself, I couldn’t get hurt. When I shared my garden and my memories of my father with you, something clicked. Those things had more value to me because I did share them with you.”
“I’m glad you did.”
“And this thought is free of charge. I think we’re good for each other. You bring a little order into my messy world, and I mess up your orderly world.”
Dominic roared with laughter. “Order is overrated anyhow.”
“I’m starting to believe that.”
“You’ve changed my life too,” he said.
She turned her body toward his, propping up on her elbow.
“In what way?”
“Helped me find direction.
Helped me put things in perspective.
I’ve lacked those things, along with passion in my life.”
“You proved that passion last night.”
He winked. “That was just a sample.
Much more to come.
You know, I wish my dad and I had been closer, but I can’t change the past. It doesn’t do me any good to keep wondering if I’ve lived up to his expectations or made him proud of the man I’ve become. I have to move on and find my own sense of purpose, figure out my own way. Decide what the right direction is for me. Once I do I might enjoy my work more. If I can’t, then I’m okay with finding something else to do.”
Head cocked to the side, she asked, “Any idea what that might be?”
“Not sure. I think it involves painting.”
“I bet you’d be good at it.”
“Maybe.
But, I was inspired last night to paint something for you. In fact, if you’ll let me, I’d like to help get your shop back up and running. I can do the construction, put on a couple coats of paint…”
“And a window,” she added. “A sweet little curio type window in the far corner.”
“I can do that, and any other special touches you’d like. You’ll never know there was a fire there. Trust me.”
Audrey gazed into his eyes. “I do trust you.”
“Had I known you were going to
Maine
, I’d have come with you.”
“It was a spur of the moment decision. And I think I needed to take care of that part of my life so I can move forward. I’d love for you to come with me the next time. Think you can arrange to take some time off?”
“Dan would love me to take off. When did you have in mind?”
“Heidi will be at the art show for two weeks. She’ll be showcasing her amulets and plugging the store. When she gets back, I planned to take a couple weeks off and go back to
Maine
. I’d love for you to come with me.”
“I’m sure I can manage that.” He brushed his hand down along her arm and back up to her breast. “Care to share what else you’re thinking?”
“I thought you were out of pennies.”
“I am.”
Audrey flashed him a seductive smile. “Then I’d say you’re on your own.”
He slipped the sheet down from her breasts and circled a nipple with the pad of his thumb.
“I have an idea of what might be on your mind.”
She pulled him toward her, his naked flesh against hers lighting her entire body on fire. “You’d be right to follow that train of thought.”
