“Got the drinks girls! Let’s have some fun,” Julie exclaimed, holding two bottles of liquor she had picked up while she was out.
CHAPTER SEVEN: GIRLS NIGHT OUT
The rest of the night was going to be slightly awkward, but also an adventure for Shannon and Megan. They were going to be focused on each other with the intention of not letting Julie catch on to their attraction. Megan was determined to do what she had told Shannon and get her to stay in Michigan, but that would require a good bit of planning on her part. She would need to make Shannon see that she wanted to be with her, and convince her that she was something worth staying in town for as well. She had a plan; she would just have to see if it worked out or not.
“You two want me to pour you a drink?” Julie yelled from the kitchen. The girls were sitting on the couch watching television. They had their minds elsewhere obviously and took a second to respond.
“Sure,” said Shannon. “I’ll take one.”
“You can pour me one too Julie,” Megan said afterward.
“From the moment Julie told me about you, I wanted to meet you,” Megan told Shannon quietly, grabbing her hand simultaneously. “She showed me pictures and I knew I needed to at least meet you and now I’m so glad I did.”
Shannon hadn’t known Megan knew who she was before last night, but it made sense with Julie being her best friend. They probably talked about her at school during normal discussion, which she was thankful of now. The only thing that bothered Shannon a bit was not knowing what Julie had said to Megan in detail. Megan could know far more about her than she was saying, or things that Shannon didn’t want Julie to say could have been unveiled to her new lover. She would just have to see what Megan knew by being subtle and finding out slowly.
Julie made her way back into the living room to join Shannon and Megan on the couch.
“What do you guys want to do tonight?” Julie asked.
Lying next to each other’s naked bodies in bed all night wasn’t really an option when it came to answering the question so Shannon said the next best thing.
“Well, we could sit around and watch television, or go out for the night.” “It’s Friday night and we could have a lot of fun together.”
The girls agreed and decided that for the night they would go out to the local college bars and just spend the night dancing and having fun as a group. Shannon looked at Megan, who smiled, thinking the same thing most likely. Julie liked to drink more than they did and when it came to bars, men were her goal. It would give Shannon and Megan some time to talk, dance, and enjoy each other while Julie prowled the floor for someone she wanted to take home.
Shannon remembered that her car was parked outside of the bar back near Julie’s house which had most of her clothing in it. Julie also didn’t grab anything before they left as the intention was to go to her parent’s house for Christmas night.
“Do you think Shannon and I could borrow some of your clothes Megan?” asked Julie, knowing that they all fit in basically the same clothes because of their size and body type.
“Sure girls, let’s go upstairs and find something.”
They spent the next hour looking through Megan’s dresser and closet for something to wear for the night. Julie found a short black dress in the back of the closet that she thought was quite appealing and went into the bathroom to try it on. As soon as she closed the door Megan grabbed Shannon by her waist and pulled her body toward her. She kissed her with a force and passion that made Shannon bite her lip to avoid gasping. Megan pushed her away and smiled slyly, knowing she was only teasing Shannon at the moment.
“Just wait until tonight,” Shannon whispered.
Megan looked up with her big blue eyes and responded. “I can’t wait babe!”
It was almost ten before the girls were ready to head out of the house. They all looked similar but different in the same sense. Julie was wearing the short black dress she had found in the closet. Shannon and Megan went the same route, each with a pair of shorts and tops that barely covered their skin. They thought it was quite cute that they had picked out similar outfits that night and wore them for that reason as well.
Megan decided to drive her bulky SUV around town, giving the girls a little more room than Julie’s would have.
“I love this car,” said Julie, who was sitting in the front seat beside Megan after calling it on the way out of the door.
“Yeah, it’s okay,” Megan said, as if she didn’t really enjoy it at all. “I mean, it’s big, which I like, but I just don’t see it feasible to drive all the time.”
The SUV was quite bulky and probably wasn’t the best when it came to gas costs, but it was nice, nonetheless, and Shannon and Julie were enjoying it for the time being.
When they got to the first bar of the night, Megan let the girls know that it wasn’t always the best one, but usually fun on Friday nights.
“There is another bar down the street if this one doesn’t work out,” she said.
Julie wasn’t worried about anything but drinking and Shannon didn’t need anything but Megan. They were set really wherever they went that night. As they walked in, they immediately had to start weaving their way around people on account of the crowd being wall to wall already. Megan had been right about Friday night in this place. Karaoke was going in the back and people were having a blast.
“They bring in a DJ at midnight so we can dance,” said Megan. “For now, we can drink and sing along.”
She started toward the bar and yelled back at Shannon and Julie, “First rounds are on me! Head over to the stage and get a table, I’ll be there in a minute.”
The two girls walked over to karaoke stage and found a table directly in front of it that was unoccupied. Most of the patrons were sitting in the bar area so most of the tables were empty in the karaoke area.
“So, how do you like Megan?” Julie asked as they sat down at the table.
Shannon spun her head around and looked at Julie, trying to figure out exactly what she meant by that. Did she know something? There was no way she could, Shannon thought, so she answered the same as anyone would.
“She is a really nice girl, which isn’t a surprise. I knew you wouldn’t be good friends with someone that I disliked.”
Julie and Shannon were so similar that this proved true almost one-hundred percent of the time. People usually gave the two of them the same first impression and judged the same from that point on. They were best friends for many reasons, and this was one of them. It was easy to be friends with someone that liked what you did and disliked almost all of the same things as well.
“Hey girls! Can you give me a hand?”
Megan had a tray, loaded with mixed drinks and shots, heading her way through the crowd. Shannon got up and took a couple of the drinks off the tray to make it easier for Megan to handle. She sat the tray down in the center of the table and chuckled quietly.
“This should keep us busy for a little bit,” she said. “Next round is on Julie.”
“With all you bought, there may not be a second round,” Julie said jokingly, knowing that this was just the start to the night.
It was nearing midnight and the girls had already taken down most of the alcohol on the tray that Megan had brought over to the table.
“Have you found anyone that looks like your type so far?” Shannon asked Julie, knowing she had been looking around since the moment they walked into the bar. Julie was known to find someone for one night, take them home, and never speak to them again after waking up the following day.
“Not yet, but the night is still young.” she said, smirking innocently.
The clock struck twelve, and just as promised, the lights dimmed and a DJ got up on stage, ready to give the bar a whole different vibe. The girls were excited, knowing this was more of their scene now. When the music dropped, all three of them hopped out of their seats and made their way to the dance floor. They all started off dancing with each other before Julie quickly branched out to find a man for later.
Megan hugged Shannon from behind and leaned in as she whispered, “Let’s have some fun now.”
She put her arms around Shannon’s waist and pushed herself into her, working her hands between her legs and kissing the back of her neck. As the music got heavier, the two girls lost within it, blocked out everything that was going on around on them. Their hands were all over each other’s sweaty bodies, in sync with every move made by the other. They barely had enough will power to separate when they caught Julie walking toward them.
“Hope you girls are having more fun than I am,” she said as she reached them. “I can’t find anyone in this place that is remotely interesting.”
Megan knew of another place down the street that might cater to Julie’s endeavor a little more as it was normally crawling with guys looking for a date for the night.
“Let’s move to the next place then,” Megan said. “It’s only a block away and you should be able to find what you are looking for Julie.”
They walked out of the bar and turned left, heading down the main strip of the busy night in Ann Arbor.
As they walked into the next bar, Shannon and Julie both saw what she was talking about almost instantly. It was full of men and women alike, all college aged and dressed much nicer than the bar before.
“Oh yes, this is what I needed,” said Julie as she pulled the other girls by the hands toward the bar.
“Three shots of tequila!” she said, ready to get the night going a little quicker.
The girls downed the drinks quickly and head out to dance the night away again. Julie disappeared almost immediately but instead of dancing, Shannon pulled Megan aside, wanting to talk to her.
“Okay, so I have been thinking; what if you came home with me? Stay there until I am done with school this semester and I will come back up here with you to start a life with you.”
“Megan thought for a second and nodded. Okay baby, I’ll do that for you. I’ll skip this semester, seeing how I just started school and move down with you.”
Shannon smiled so big, grabbing onto Megan and hugging her ever so tightly.
“Can we tell Julie?” Shannon asked. “She is going to find out soon enough now.”
“Not yet Shannon. Let’s think about that a little more and decide the best way to tell her a bit later.”
Megan didn’t want to rush into anything when it came to telling anyone. People weren’t going to take to the fact that she had a female lover, especially since the two of them were not expected to do anything of the sort.
“Okay, we will hang out a little more,” Shannon agreed, “but I don’t want to hide you much longer,” she said, sliding her hand up Megan’s thigh as she kissed her softly on the lips.
“You won’t have to sweetie,” Megan promised.
As the two of them went back out to dance with each other, Julie still was nowhere to be found. The girls figured she was with a guy by now and didn’t worry too much. They continued to dance as if they were one, melting into one another along with the beat of the music. It was meant to be, they could feel it. The combination of their souls was perfect and they couldn’t be happier with anyone else.
As it neared two in the morning, last call was announced and the girls didn’t even acknowledge it until the lights suddenly lit up the almost empty bar. They had been so lost in one another that nothing could come between them.
Shannon looked at her phone and noticed that it was not only one-forty-six, but also that she had eleven text messages from Julie and a number of missed calls.
As she was looking through the messages, it didn’t come to her surprise that Julie had found someone to go home with and said she would be back the following day, getting the guy to drop her off at Megan’s. The other messages were pictures of the guy, her kissing him, random song lyrics, and a variety of other things that made Shannon giggle at the fact of how drunk Julie must be. She sent a text back, telling Julie to be careful. She knew she would be okay and didn’t worry as this was a common occurrence, and despite how intoxicated Julie was, she always made decent decisions when it came to guys she went home with.
Shannon didn’t think about it too much longer as her train of thought immediately shifted to how much fun she was going to have with Megan now that Julie was gone for the night. This night would be the best of her life, thought Shannon and she couldn’t wait to get home and spend it with her new lover. Neither one of them was drunk anymore from all the dancing they had done, sweating out the alcohol that had been previously consumed. Megan decided just to drive back home and Shannon didn’t argue. They had forgotten about drinking a couple of hours ago and were sober by now.
As they walked to the car hand in hand, Megan leaned over to Shannon and whispered in her ear, “I love you.”
Shannon’s heart raced out of excitement and also nervousness, not really knowing how to take the three words she hadn’t heard in so long. She wanted to say it back, but didn’t know if she should yet, or if she could even manage to do so if she tried. She stopped, took Megan by both hands, and as smoothly as she could, said it back.
“I love you too Megan.”
CHAPTER EIGHT: THE BASEMENT
As she buckled her seat belt, Shannon’s heart was still pounding from the events that just occurred. She was in love with Megan, and knew now that her love wasn’t one-sided. Megan loved her back and that was the best feeling in the world. She couldn’t believe how this all happened, and that it was with a girl, because she had never felt this way before about anyone. It felt all surreal to Shannon, but she didn’t want it to end now, or ever for that matter. As they drove back to Megan’s house they remained quiet, but not because the situation was awkward. They were both smiling, ear to ear, dancing to the music in Megan’s car and acting like teenagers that had fallen in love for the first time. It was the best night of her life, thought Shannon, and she hoped it would never end. When they pulled back into Megan’s driveway it was nearing two thirty in the morning, but sleep wasn’t on their minds.
The girls didn’t say a word as they walked through the door, already in full embrace as Megan pushed it shut behind them. They stumbled through the door and up to Megan’s room, undressing each other as they made their way up the stairs. By the time they reached the bedroom door, they were in their underwear and breathing heavily from the intense kissing and touching. Shannon shoved Megan onto the bed and climbed on top of her, almost never letting their lips separate. Nothing could be this amazing, thought Shannon, as Megan’s lips agreed silently. She pulled Megan’s underwear to her knees, caressing her softly with her hand. Megan grabbed Shannon’s hair and let out a moan that showed she was feeling the same way Shannon was. Shannon’s lips moved down Megan’s body, slowly and delicately touching every part of her. They were in love and she would show her just how much from this day forward. She would proceed to caress Julie’s body softly, gently and eloquently. It was a temple to Shannon and she worshiped it as such. When Megan reached the peak, and finally crossed over, she grabbed Shannon, pulling her up for a long, deep kiss that sent sparks running through her body. This was the perfect night.
