The village of Egret Pointe had proved an amazingly fertile ground for Mr. Nicholas. He had culled two women from the village’s midst in the beginning of this twenty-first century. But he wanted Kathryn St. John, the town’s librarian, more than all the others. The males in her family had been simple to entrap over the centuries. Men with a sense of their own importance, a strong desire for great wealth, and a need for power were easy fodder. And each generation wanted more than the previous generation had wanted.

But a woman of quality cannot be lured from the straight and narrow path as effortlessly as a man can. Kathryn St. John was not an easy woman to tempt. Her character was strong and firm. But like all females of the species, she had a weakness for good sex, and lots of it. Unfortunately she had no way of indulging her lust without causing a scandal.

And so Mr. Nicholas had introduced Kathryn St. John to The Channel. To be able to indulge her fantasies privately while keeping her family’s reputation unsullied had delighted her. So she had brought The Channel to the attention of a few other women, who had in turn shared their delicious dirty little secret with other friends. And Mr. Nicholas waited patiently for this lovely ripe plum of a woman to fall into his power. He had all the time in the world. She did not. But then something totally unexpected happened.
