We stayed there, silence overcoming both of us for
a few minutes and the oddest reaction took hold of me.  I started to laugh a
full out belly laugh.

She lifted her head and her eyes narrowed on me
with a fuming gaze.  This would be the second time she had gotten pissed off at
me and even though I had never wanted her feeling that way, I couldn’t ignore
the passion that surged through those eyes of hers despite her blatant irritation.

I rolled her onto her back and began kissing her.
The image of her growing round with my child,
our
child had stirred
something within me.

“Oh, baby,” I said to her between kisses, “if
you’re not pregnant, I plan on getting you there very soon after we say
I do
.”

“Now wait a damn minute, don’t I get a say?”  I
lifted my head to watch her face and realized she was feigning insult.

I had descended my kisses to her stomach and
rubbed the area where our baby would be growing with my hand.  She giggled.

“Have you taken a test?” I asked and cuddled my
head to her stomach, my fingertips running a pattern up and down her side.

“Two,” she said.

“And?” I looked up.

She nodded.  “Both, I have an appointment to confirm
with an OB next Tuesday.”

“Can I come?” I asked.

She cupped my cheek and smiled as I looked up from
her belly in hope.  “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

I turned my face and kissed the inside of her
palm.

“Damn woman, you make me so happy,” I said kissing
my way back up her body, “and you’re right.”

“About what?” she asked.

“I do want to fuck you.”  My hand cupped her core
and I slid a finger into her, causing her to arch into me and moan.  “That’s
right, love,” I said and watched the emotions flutter across her face, “let me
hear you.”

Almost Forgotten

(The Broken Men Chronicles - Book 2)

The man had it all: money, women, and good looks.
For all intents and purposes, he was happy.  Or at least he’d tricked himself
into thinking that he was.

When the past comes crashing into the present, he
doesn’t know what to make of things.  Why had she come back?  Why now and not
back then?  The most burning question of all being, why was it that he gave a
damn?

She’d broken his heart all those
years ago which was why Jake had chosen to live a life of bachelorhood from
there on out.  With his fast-paced career, he ran a fast-paced social life to
go along with it.  It was what worked for him.

But what of the longing he’d been feeling?  What
of the loneliness his large home presented the minute the housekeeper left and
the women that warmed his bed deserted him?  Could he really have what so many
of his friends already had?  Maybe…  But just because one longed for those
things, things he’d sworn off ages ago, doesn’t mean that he was destined for
them.
