Adam looked around. “Let’s put on our clothes and straighten ourselves out. We’ll get off at the basement and tell maintenance it’s out of order.” He gathered up her clothes and handed them to her. “By the way, you got any perfume to spray?”

She threw him a look and searched her bag.

It was the end of another day and still no progress on the purchase orders. But Jeanette couldn’t concentrate anyway. Her mind always drifted back to the elevator and when it did, her pussy twitched. Then Adam would come into her office with something, and give her a knowing sexy stare.

She was of no use. She was glad it was thirty minutes before quitting time.

Someone knocked on her door, as she was getting her purse ready.

“Hey Jeanette, there’s still some left over birthday cake in the break room,” Sam said, as she stuffed her face. Adam appeared behind her.

“No thanks. I want to get some sleep tonight, the sugar will keep me up.”

“Hello there Adam, just telling Jeanette to get some cake. Well, at least take a slice home. Good stuff.” She turned to leave, but stopped and turned back into her office. “Meant to tell you, don’t take elevator nine. They’re repairing it or something.” She left.

Adam smiled at her and all Jeanette could do was put her hand in her head and groan.

Chapter Ten

Jeanette opened her door to her condo and turned on the light. Immediately, Oscar her longhaired Persian, greeted her as usual.

Meow!

“Hello there, mommy’s home.” She picked up the feline, dropped her house keys on the table in the hallway and went straight to the kitchen. “Sorry I’m so late getting home. Let me get you your dinner before I take my bath.”

After she finished to the needs of Oscar, which included belly rubs and behind the ear scratching, Jeanette went to her room. Her body was getting stiff and she was plain exhausted.

As she ran the bath water, she wondered if her stiffness and current state of fatigue was due to work, or what happened this morning. She had a feeling it was the latter. Work never tired her out and made her bones ache.

She thought about all the things Adam said to her. She didn’t believe in love at first site, but he seemed to be a hopeless romantic. She believed he as confusing lust with love.

She would be the first to admit that it was a two way street in the lust department. Seeing him standing over her in that Alpha stance that seemed to come natural to him was more than a turn on. It reached a primitive chromosome in her body, and she acted on it.

They both acted on it. And like she said, it was fun. This was something she could write in her diary and look back on later.

But again they both got carried away. One day they were going to get busted. They needed to slow down. Actually they needed to put the breaks on things.

As she mentioned to him, she was not some out of control teenager, or some party college girl. She was a responsible, mature woman—that needed to get her hormones under control.

The mere mention from Adam about dreaming of that morning and the elevator incident got her into a state of arousal. She was surprised she made it home in one piece. Every red light she came to, she would think of being on that table with Adam between her legs or her between his. At some intersections, other drivers blew their horns when the light changed.

Adam knew how to push her buttons. But she wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of knowing it. She was going to work to do just that—work.

After the tub was filled, Jeanette grabbed the phone and called Renee. She looked up at the clock. It was nine fifteen.

It took five rings before the sleepy irritated voice of her cousin was on the line. “’Lo.”

“Calling to let you know I’m home.”

“Cool, nite.”

“This coming from the woman that wanted to go see a bad horror flick. I should have taken Adam up on his invitation and gone to the sushi bar with him. Good night, talk to—”

“Wait! Wait! What’s this about Adam inviting you someplace?”

“Nothing really. Go back to sleep.”

“I’m awake now. Tell me!”

“It was nothing really. He wanted to know if I wanted to go to this sushi place after we finished work. He’s been asking me.” She left out the part that the reason he invited her was to talk about the other morning’s romp. Come to think of it, she hadn’t told Renee about that either. No need, it wasn’t going to be a regular thing. Jeanette made up her mind that she was going to put her foot down.

“Why didn’t you take him up on it? It’s obvious that this guy is digging you.”

“It was late and I wanted to come home. Besides, I really don’t know that much about him.”
Except that he fucks, eats pussy really good and has great elevator sex.
Gosh, she still couldn’t get over what they did in a matter of only a couple weeks!

“Um…that’s the reason why you would want to go out with him. To get to know each other better. It’s amazing the intimate details you can get about someone at a sushi bar.

Or an office table or in an elevator
. “Yeah, well, maybe next time. Right now I need to take a bath and go to bed. I need to be sharp tomorrow. We’re making some headway on those mysterious purchase orders.”

“Alright then, I will see you tomorrow for lunch?”

“Yep. Good night.” They disconnected.

Jeanette took off her clothes and got in the tub. She leaned back and tried to get Adam off her mind. But it wasn’t easy. How do you get out of your mind the most beautiful man on the planet that you just had the most amazing sex with?

This was so not good. She was still hearing rumors through the grapevine that her position wasn’t temporary. Of course that was only office gossip, she would wait and see after this mess. Too bad. She would know when her assignment was over and she would move on, never seeing her co-workers again, unless she wanted to.

Some hinted that even after this problem was solved they would like to keep her. In fact, they said they could make a whole new department for her. Budget Analysis Manager. What the hell was that? If it was to catch unnecessary spending and control finances, she could spot one problem already. Stop implementing new unnecessary positions and departments.

“Meow.”

“Sorry, only room for one. Go meet me in the bedroom.”

As if Oscar actually understood her, he walked off.

For a spilt second, she wished she were talking to Adam. She would make room for him in the tub, and then they could both go to her bedroom afterwards.

Stop it! You’re letting your hormones dictate your thoughts and actions again.

Jeanette continued soaking while listening to some soft music. She couldn’t wait until Friday. Maybe over the weekend, both she and Adam could come to their senses and realize that this was just one of those crazy flukes.

***

Adam finished taking his shower. One cold one hot. Neither one of them helped.

The only way he was going to get Jeanette out of his system, was to have her twenty four seven until he tired of her. And he knew very well that would never happen.

Once out of the shower, he put on his pajama bottoms and got into bed. He stared up at the ceiling for a good five minutes. He wasn’t going to get any sleep tonight.

He sat up and turned on his lamp. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he started thinking about today’s events. He wondered if he fucked up—again.

Did he jump into things too quickly without thinking? Men were always accused of thinking with their little head and not the big one. He never wanted to be compared to the ordinary man.

Realizing that he wasn’t going to get any sleep, he decided to do something more productive, like look over his program.

He went to his desk and pulled up the program on his laptop. He went from screen to screen looking at every code, once, twice, three times. He couldn’t find anything, at least at the moment. He wasn’t concentrating hard enough anyway. How could he after he had the best sex in his life in an elevator of all places? First it was the office desk. He was living out every person’s fantasy. Having sex in the office and elevator—with a stranger. Of course there was a possibility he was never going to have it again.

“Arrgh!” He put his head in hands. Why did he have to think about that again? He could see now that this was never going to leave his mind. He could live to be a hundred, and before he closed his eyes one last time, this afternoon would be in the forefront of his mind.

Since it seemed that this was what he was going to think about for the rest of the evening, he might as well try to figure out a solution.

If Jeanette had a similar problem that he had with being interested in someone from the office, then all he had to do was convince her that it would be different with them. They can each learn from their mistakes and take the required precautions.

He really didn’t see a problem over all. People dated at work all the time. Heck, most people hooked up with co-workers. You spent most of your waking hours on the job, so it’s inevitable that the dating situation was related to ones working situation.

Maybe he was over simplifying things too much. He didn’t really know. All he knew was that he was in love with Jeanette, and no matter how she tried to act like they were just having fun, there was no denying the attraction they had for each other.

Satisfied with the approach he was going to take, he got up to check some messages on the phone. There were two. One was from Sam, the other his brother Noah.

Sam wanted to remind him that they had an early morning meeting, but she wanted to see him and Jeanette in her office first regarding any of their findings. Great. That’s all he needed. To sit in a mind numbing meeting talking about how well the company is doing and then get projects to work on. He always wondered about the effectiveness of management.

His brother mentioned that he was arriving next week on business. He only had three weeks, and wondered if they could spend some time together. Adam looked at his watch. It was almost midnight. He’ll call him in the morning before leaving for work.

He turned off his laptop and crawled back into bed. He had to get some sleep. He needed to function to figure out those purchase orders, and to make sure he stayed awake at the meeting and not like one of his IT co-workers falling asleep and start snoring.

But more importantly, he needed to have a clear head to fix his personal problem. He didn’t know if he needed a miracle or not, but he wasn’t going to rest until he had Jeanette back in his arms.

Morning came too fast. Adam felt like the walking dead as he boarded the elevator with his fellow workers.

“Hello chief,” Erick said, giving him a salute.

“Whassup.” He looked at the coffee in Erick’s hand. “I should have gotten some before getting on the elevator. I think I will anyway. Tell Sam, I’ll be right there shortly.”

“No prob.”

The elevator stopped on their floor and everyone poured out. Adam stayed on and let it go back down to the first floor. When he stepped off, he bumped into Jeanette.

“Good morning. Did you get Sam’s message. I just listened to my messages this morning before I left home. Good thing I did,” Jeanette said, taking a sip of her morning brew.

“Yeah, I got it last night. I’m about to get some of that stuff too. I’ll see you in Sam’s office.”

“Okay.”

Getting back to the office after getting his cup of Joe, Adam saw Jeanette standing in front of Sam’s office door. “I think she went to get some coffee too.”

“It seems we’re all burning the midnight oil at some point,” Adam said, joining her.

“Good morning you two, how’s it going?” Sam asked, as she walked down the hall.

“She really doesn’t need any coffee,” Jeanette whispered to Adam. “We’re doing great how about you.”

“Fine, fine. I hope you have some news for me,” she said, as she unlocked her office door. “Come in, come in.”

They did and took seats in front of her desk.

“So let’s have it, no matter how small you think it is.”

“Oh, this is big,” Adam said.

Sam’s eyes got big and round.

They told her their findings. When they finished, Sam shook her head.

“I’m so glad you got that far. So, it’s someone or something in our Paris office. And there might be a connection here.” She stood up and paced the room. She went to the window and looked out. “I’m going to make an executive decision here. It might cost some, but we can’t drop the ball at this point. I’m sending Jeanette to the Paris office Thursday.”

Adam looked over at Jeanette, who was chocking on her coffee.

“And Adam, I’m sending you too. You need to look at their system and see how it’s affecting your program here.”

Adam caught Jeanette out of the corner of his eye. If she wasn’t chocking before, she needed the Heimlich Maneuver now.

“Gee, Sam, when you said I might be going to one of your offsite offices soon, I never imagined Paris.”

“Cool huh? Too bad it isn’t under more pleasurable circumstances. But hey, it’s still Paris. And you’ll be there for a minimum of a week. Longer if necessary, but let me know so we can put in a rec to management.”

A week in Paris alone with Jeanette. Adam got his miracle.
