The only noise heard throughout the expansive and open-planned room was their heavily breathing bodies. Cam had pulled out of Annie and discarded the condom onto the floor. He moved closer to Annie where she lay with her eyes closed but a contented smile on her face.

Cam pulled her up so she was sitting up and facing him. He wrapped his arms around the back of her languid body and pulled her in for a heated kiss. “Time to take you to bed, Nashville. Jet lag hasn’t hit me yet and I intend to use it to my full advantage.” He squeezed her tight to him.

Annie squealed. “That sounds wonderful but I have dinner cooking for you. In fact, it’s probably ready.” Annie was torn between wanting to show him how much she cared about him and wanting to fulfill her carnal need of him.

“You cooked? For me?”

“I thought it might be nice to have something home cooked after being away.” Worry was filling Annie’s thoughts about the possibility he may not like the gesture.

“Wow.” Cam paused and looked from the oven to the kitchen. “Besides my mum, no other woman has ever made a home -cooked meal for me.”

The worry Annie was feeling melted away, and was replaced with a huge sense of pride. Smiling, Annie jumped down from the bench and grabbed the t-shirt Cam had been wearing.

“Hey, that’s mine,” he smiled as he told her.

“I know.” She winked at him as she moved around to the other side of the counter. Cam gave a quick smack on her behind as she passed him to start serving dinner, and Annie yelped with delight.

“You go and wash up and, by the time you come out here, it will be ready,” Annie instructed the cheeky looking surfer. He leaned down, gathered the discarded clothing and condom, and headed for the bathroom. Annie peeked over her shoulder and admired the toned ass walking away from her. She sighed and went to the kitchen sink where she washed her hands and threw some water on her face. The man was so intoxicating to her and Annie felt so alive and at ease with him. Feeling that way was a little addictive, and she didn’t want to get too attached. He wasn’t someone for the long term, and the sooner she was willing to let go, the better. But, it would be hard to part with him. What was she going to do? Shaking her head of any doubts, Annie started serving their dinner determined her thoughts would not ruin their night.

Sipping coffee out on the balcony first thing in the morning while watching the sunrise over the ocean was like a dream to Annie. It was the most magnificent sight she had ever seen and one that was bound to stay with her forever.

After dinner the night before and a magical night being worshiped in bed by her Surfing God, Annie couldn’t believe life could get any better. She had no idea if her relationship with Cam was just a holiday fling or something more. This man made her feel like anything was possible. He made her smile and laugh. He was able to cheer her up when she felt down and he seemed to know exactly what to say to make her swoon. ‘
Of course he did. He’s been around a lot,’
Annie thought. Cam had women falling at his feet. Annie was still puzzled over who exactly Lana was, too. She hadn’t mentioned her visit to Cam. She honestly didn’t know how to bring it up or what to make of it all. She was curious about who the woman was to Cam but she was reluctant to ask him for fear of ruining the wonderful time they had been having together.

Taking in a deep breath of the salted air, Annie held it in and then let all her negativity out when she released it. She closed her eyes and smiled.

“Morning, Nashville.” Annie sucked in a short breath and jumped a little before Cam took her in his arms engulfing her with a hug from behind. He had a little chuckle. “Didn’t mean to scare you.”

“I’m fine. Good morning.” Turning her head to the side, she looked up into his gorgeous blue eyes. He leaned in and kissed her sweetly. Each kiss he gave her still made her weak at the knees.

Cam pulled back and tightened his arms around her more. He leaned his chin on her shoulder and both stared out at the morning view of Bronte Beach.

“So, what plans have you got today?” Annie asked him.

“I thought I would take you on a trip up the coast. Time to take you out of the city and to a place where you can really relax.”

“Mmm. Sounds wonderful.”

“Great. Let me cook you some breakfast and then we can pack and get on the road.” He pulled away from Annie and slapped her butt before going inside.

Annie could hear him whistling and smiled. He seemed as happy as she was. Not the actions of a so-called playboy at all. She was confused but decided just to let things take their course. No need to rock the boat while they were both in seventh heaven.

It took less than two hours for them to eat and pack. Returning from his next-door neighbor’s where Bowie was going to be staying, Cam tossed their bags into the trunk of the Jeep and flashed a sexy smile her way. Annie’s heart tugged and flip-flopped every time he flashed his pearly whites at her. She never felt like she was anything particularly special, but he sure made her feel like she was his whole world when that smile flashed across his face.

“You all set to go?” Cam asked her.

“Yeah, I think so.” Biting her lip, Annie got in the Jeep. Nervous excitement was coursing through her veins. She had put all of her trust and faith into this guy she hardly knew, but never once did she question her safety while with him. She was happy, secure with decisions, and ready to take on her next adventure with her sexy surfer.

Starting the engine up and giving it a few revs, Cam reversed the car out of the driveway and onto the road. It wasn’t long before Sydney was left behind in their wake.

The white lines in the middle of the highway zipped past at a breakneck speed while the beat and sounds of David Guetta pumped out from the stereo. The journey up the coast had so far been pleasant but the further they went, the faster the butterflies in Annie’s stomach fluttered. She knew Cam wasn’t telling her the complete truth about what they were doing and it wasn’t sitting too well with her.

“So where exactly are we going?”

The corners of Cam’s mouth slowly turned up and a knowing smile enhanced his beautiful face.

“I’m not telling you.”

Annie smiled sweetly at him and batted her eyelashes. Cam shook his head and snickered at her.

“Do you really want me to spoil the surprise?”

Annie stared at Cam through her sunglasses, hoping that he could pick up the vibe of her annoyance. “I’m not very fond of surprises.”

“You’ll love this one; I promise you.”

Still not satisfied with the answer she was given, Annie decided on a new tactic to try to winkle the location from him. Placing her hand on his knee, she slowly snaked her fingers up and under his board shorts and continued to walk her fingers up the inside of his leg. Reaching his crotch, her fingers began stroking lightly across his rapidly growing package.

Cam blew out a low breath. “We won’t make it there if you keep doing that.”

Leaning in and whispering in his ear, Annie said, “So tell me where we’re going then?”

Cam didn’t say anything and she knew he was busy enjoying the impromptu massage she was giving him. Still determined to coax an answer from him, she pulled her hand out from under his shorts. Not giving too much thought to what she was doing, Annie put her hand back on his package and squeezed.

“Fuck!” Cam yelled.

Squealing tires and the car’s rear end moving from side to side had Annie back in her seat and facing the windscreen. The seatbelt held firm against her chest and she grabbed on tight to the armrest with one hand while the other hand clenched the muscled leg of her riled up driver. Cam gained control of the Jeep and had them back between the lines.

“Geez, Nashville, why the fuck did you do that?”

Annie was breathing hard and fast while trying to catch her breath. Her body was overwhelmed with emotions of fear, excitement, and amazement. She couldn’t believe that with just her touch she could make Cam lose complete control of the car and his emotions. Taking her sunglasses off, she rubbed her hands over her face.

“What the hell did you think you were doing? I almost fucking killed you.” The tone of his voice made Annie wince and she closed her eyes. A lone tear slid down her face and a lump grew in her throat. She grabbed the water bottle from her bag, took a few sips, and rested her head back on the seat. Letting out a little cough to clear her throat she whispered to Cam, “Us.”

“What?”

Annie opened her eyes, turned, and looked at him. “You could have killed us. Not just me, Cam.”

There was no reply from him and Annie couldn’t see what he was thinking or feeling behind the polarized sunglasses. His body was braced against the back of the seat and very tense so she could only imagine his eyes held just as much angst and worry.

Sitting back in her seat, Annie put her sunglasses back on and looked out the side window at the passing scenery. Masses of dense and dry bushland whisked past them. Annie noticed that Cam hadn’t slowed his speed down and wondered if he was hurrying along so he could get out of the car quicker.

The atmosphere inside the car felt thick with a tension, which had never been between them before. Why? It wasn’t like it was his fault? What made him so mad? The fact that I groped him, or was it that he felt responsible for my safety?

The questions didn’t stop going around in circles in her mind. Annie was jolted back into the moment when she noticed they were passing buildings and the car was slowing down to the town’s speed limit.

“Kings Cove,” read Annie from the passing welcome sign.

“Kings Cove,” Cam repeated. The mood changed in the car ever so slightly, but enough for Annie to realize this town had been a part of Cam’s past. She didn’t know how but was curious to find out.

Cam drove down the main street of the town, which looked out over the ocean. Nestled between the coast and the Australian bush, the town appeared like it was a sleepy little hamlet but as the car meandered closer to the center of town, the hustle and bustle of the small community was apparent.

Shops, restaurants, and small businesses lined one side of the road. They looked out over the sparkling, blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. Cam pulled the car into a parking bay shaded by towering Norfolk pines. He killed the engine, unfastened his seatbelt, and got out.

Annie remained where she was and watched Cam through the windscreen. Walking over to the wooden railings, which separated the beach from the park, he lay both hands atop the pine fence and hung his head as if he was saying a prayer. The moment was broken when he suddenly threw his head back like a man possessed and inhaled the humid, salty air. His diaphragm relaxed and he turned to face the confused girl he had left in the car.

Annie didn’t want to make the first move. She wasn’t scared of Cam but she wanted to give him space. She was also still a slightly miffed about his behavior in the car earlier.

Cam walked toward her side of the car. Annie unfastened her seatbelt when he opened her door and held out his hand to her. Placing her hand in his, she swung her legs out of the car, and stood up in front of him. She took off her glasses and looked him straight in the eye, about to give him a serve for the way he had behaved, but before she could say a single word, he captured her lips with his and showed Annie just what he was feeling. Her arms reached around his neck and she pulled close to him. Cam’s kiss was urgent and wanting, and Annie was happy to give him what he needed.
