Arez was working on a huge marble depiction of a globe with all the cities outlined and images of the immortals and Gala carved into the cloud cover. Her face was everywhere.

He was frowning at the sculpture, and he raised his chisel again.

“Hello, beloved.” She smiled and walked up to him, standing behind him and sliding her hands down his chest, drawing small circles on his bare skin.

He turned his head to kiss her; his stone-dust-covered hand wove its way into her hair. “You have been gone forever.”

“Two days. You could have come with me.” She punctuated her words with soft kisses.

“With you here, nothing needs to take me away. What do you think of it?”

“It is amazing. Where are you going to put it?”

“The spaceport. It will be the first thing that landing aliens see.” He chuckled.

“How long until it is done?”

“I just need to polish it. Will you help me carry it?”

Gala let him pull her across his leather-clad lap. “Of course.”

He buried his face in her neck, and his lips shifted slightly, warming the sensitive parts of her body with that small touch.

It had finally come to her after they had been together for a hundred years that he was all touch, and she had no feeling. Together, he gave her what she needed, and she gave him what he wanted. It was a strangely balanced relationship, and she loved that he trusted her enough to show her strength.

She had seen many Rekfan couples grow apart, fight, argue, and it was all because they expected their mate to change into something more...something that they desired more than the person they had claimed to love.

With Arez, first came the acceptance, and the love came later. Now, she could not imagine life without him.

That was probably a good thing as he had no intention of going anywhere without her.

As she held him tight and enjoyed his rough touch, she thought of all the statues of herself that now dotted the globe. Some were in odd places, and it had become a strange sort of adventure holiday to find them all.

He was an artist, she was a tourist attraction, and together, they were one of the best creative partnerships she could have imagined, if she had ever dared let herself think of a future.

Thinking was over. The future was here.

Author’s Note

This one was a bit wee... but that is okay. I think it was cute.

I wrote the first half before my trip to Australia and the last half when I returned with a nasty cold that kicked in on the plane ride over the Pacific.

The next book begins the big “O” series, and I don’t know what that will bring.

Thanks for reading,
