There wasn’t much to say after that.

A small smile teased Kia’s lips. “As you say.”

Dechan growled more but finally spun and stalked off.

“He may be a younger male, Rebecca Varda.” Younger male? In Kia’s world, maybe, but he was still older than Rebecca. “But the youngest are the easiest trained.” The look on her friend’s face held more than a hint of sexual anticipation.

“Ew, gross. Keep that to yourself.” With a small shake of her head, she ran her hands down her stomach and over her hips. “Do I look okay? I mean do you think he’ll…”

“He will be as enamored of you this wentic as he was the first time he saw you.” Kia narrowed her eyes and tilted her head to the side. “You do know when that was, do you not?”

“Of course,” she furrowed her brow. “With Varr on the stairs in my housing block.”

Kia shook her head. “No, that evening was not the first time he laid eyes on you. It was not the first time he’d ever been on the station. It was merely the first time he wanted to
stay
.”

The first time he wanted to stay.

“He…”

“He saw you, and he wanted you for mate, even then.”

“But he could have been—”

“Captured. Yes. But Varr said your Karru was willing to risk death for his sweet one.”

Before they’d shared a word, he was risking his life to be near her. That knowledge, that truth, touched deep inside her. No, she hadn’t wanted to be separated from him, but now that desire to be at his side was stronger than before. Suddenly she needed to see him, touch him, and breathe in his natural scent. She wanted to be consumed by him.

“Rebecca, are you ready?” Poxu appeared at her side.

“Yeah, just let me—” And all-too-familiar growl reached her and she rolled her eyes as she turned to face Dechan once again. “What?”

“Respect…”

“I am not having an interstellar incident because you have a problem with my boss calling me by my first name. It’s just not happening. Are you hearing the words I’m saying?” She mimed her statement with exaggerated movements. “No. Be. Asshole.”

“But—”

Kia glided forward, her body moving seductively as she approached Rebecca’s brother. “I believe I can explain things appropriately, Rebecca Varda.”

Yeah, Rebecca just thought she could. “Great. Just don’t kill him before the ceremony, he has to stand with Karru.”

“Rebecca?” She was reminded of Poxu’s presence.

“What? Yeah, sure. I’m ready.”

Poxu bent his arm and held out his elbow for her. “Wonderful, let’s go.”

Rebecca reached for her old superior officer, and before her fingertips made contact with his uniform, a large male was there. He wrapped around her, spun her, and placed himself between her and Poxu. The breadth of the shoulders were familiar, his trim waist equally memorable, but that ass… was a thing of beauty. It was also connected to a very angry alien. Were all Palia males this snarly?

“Karru,” she sighed.

He spun and shot her an accusing glare. “You were going to put your hands on him.”

“So he could walk me down the aisle. He was taking me to you. We discussed this.” Sometimes she felt as if she were speaking to a child. And then she realized it was just an overly possessive and protective male. Now it was her turn to throw around accusations. “We weren’t supposed to see each other before the ceremony.”

He did not appear to care. “I was tired of waiting. I missed you.”

“It’s been less than two zentics!”

“It felt an eternity.”

How could she be angry when he said things like that? “Fine. Are you ready?”

A tenderness, a deep desire tinged with caring filled his features. “More than.”

Yes, she was more than ready too.

She turned to Poxu. “We’re ready when you are. You remember what we talked about?”

Poxu nodded and turned away, easily sliding through the crowd.

“You talked to Poxu? Alone? What about?” With each word, his voice rose in both volume and edginess.

Rebecca stepped toward him, slipping her arm around his waist as she brought their bodies together. She rested her palm over his heart and absorbed the warmth that came through his formal shirt. “We discussed my vows to you. My promises.”

Karru simply released a satisfied grunt and then got them into motion, pushing them both through the wedding attendants.

Yes, she had a few things to chat with Poxu about when it came to her vows to Karru. Specifically that whole section about “to love, honor, and
obey
.”

Because, yeah, that wasn’t happening.

Before she knew it, she was at the front of the room, everyone’s eyes trained on her as she focused intently on Karru. The words of the ceremony rolled over her, the room silent so that Poxu’s voice echoed off the wall. She knew it by heart, had long ago memorized each syllable when she’d dreamed of a being married.

So when it became her turn, she didn’t echo Poxu, but didn’t stick to the original ceremony wording either.

…to love, cherish, and obey pretty often but not always and never when it involves us being parted.

Rebecca finally had him alone. And she’d only had to threaten three males, one of them her new husband.
Husband
. She had one, and she would never let him go.

Karru preceded her through the doorway to their rooms, his steps firm, but slow. Proof that he wasn’t as recovered as he tried to show. He’d risen from his bed too quickly. She should have demanded he wait another wentic. The federation wanted them, they weren’t going anywhere so there would’ve been no reason not to wait.

“Stop it.” His voice drew her attention, and she hurried after him, stopping near the entry to lock the doors behind her. “Stop what?”

“Fretting.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I read about this.” He nodded. “Married females often fret about their husbands. I’m giving you no reason to fret.”

“No reason to…” Her eyes widened. “You were unconscious a handful of zentics ago. You climbed from bed, stepped into a dress uniform, and got married—”

“—to you—”

“—without once stopping to think about what it would do to you.”

A purely sexual grin graced his mouth and he slowly stalked her, his hips rolling as he approached. Every line of his body screamed dangerous predator, but all she saw was delicious lover. No, not only lover, husband. “I thought of nothing but myself when I climbed from bed, and,” he reached for her and gently tugged her forward, “stepped into a dress uniform.”

He slipped his arms around her waist and brought to them flush against each other. “I thought of how much I wanted you to be mine. Undoubtedly, completely, utterly mine.” He brushed his lips across her mouth, capturing her lower lip between his teeth and nibbling the small bit of flesh. “All know you belong to me. You are my wife, my equal.” That sinful grin returned. “Terrans believe in equality. Males and females can do any job and should be treated the same.”

Rebecca nodded. Yes, that’s what they believed even when the rest of the federation laughed at them.

“In the spirit of your Terran traditions… I believe I have been doing all the work.” He released her and padded backward toward the bed, sinful promise in his eyes. When his knees nudged the mattress, he fell back against the soft surface, bouncing in place. “It is time you did your part.”

She smirked, enjoying the touch of his body against hers despite the cloth that separated them. “And how should I do that?”

Karru stroked her, his hands sliding over the smooth fabric of her wedding dress. He grabbed at the cloth, carefully inching it up her body until it neared her hips, and she wiggled to help things along. When it was high enough, she changed her position, straddling him, pressing her center against the ridge of his hardened shaft.

He groaned, and gripped her hips, gently encouraging her to slide her heat along his length. He hadn’t yet discovered her surprise, but he soon would. Very, very soon.

“How much do you love this dress? Take it off before I tear it from your body.”

She reached down and gathered the layers, quickly tugging the covering from her body and easily tossing it aside.

Air wheezed from his lungs in a rapid whoosh as his eyes widened and face paled in astonishment. She knew what he saw. She’d forgone any undergarments, choosing to have nothing existing between the fabric of her dress and her skin. It hadn’t just been luxurious because the outfit was loose, but also because of the sinful slide of the fabric over her flesh.

“You were bare for me. Standing so chastely at the altar when you were wicked beneath this virginal dress.” He traced the lines of her body, hands gliding over her trim waste and rising until he cupped her breasts. “Promise you will do this again during our Palia mating ceremony. I want to stand before the empire, proclaiming my devotion to you, and know you are naked for me.” He squeezed her mounds and gently pinched her nipples. “Only for me.”

“Yes.” Yes to it all. She rolled her hips, taking pleasure in the scrape of fabric against her sensitive skin. Already she was moist and waiting for him, body anxious to welcome him.

He groaned, and then growled before rocking against her, sending a wave of pleasure through her. It hadn’t been long since they’d come together, but it felt as if it were an eternity.

“Karru… Need…” She always needed him. Needed him like she needed air.

“Take me out. Take me into you.” His voice was hoarse and dry, rough with need.

She shuddered with the demand, reveling in his dominance. Without hesitating—she craved him as much as he wanted her—she wiggled backward and reached between their bodies. It was easy to find the seal of his dress pants, even easier to separate the fabric and then she had him in her hand. His length was like silk-covered Terran steel, soft yet unbreakable. And hers. Forever hers.

She stroked him, still awestruck by his trust. She held the most intimate part of him, a path to pleasure or pain, should she desire. She wanted him to scream, but in ecstasy, so her touch was gentle and arousing. The ridges and bumps she loved pressed against her palm and she moistened further, preparing her for his possession.

She wanted him inside her. Her body already trembled with the precursor of release and she refused to find her peak without him.

Rebecca rose to her knees as she inched forward, his shaft still firm in her grip. Gaze intent on his, she watched the expressions that flitted across his face as she pressed the tip of him to her moist entrance. She watched the need slowly transform to arousal when her opening kissed the head of his length and then that morphed into unhindered hunger as he filled and stretched her.

It was as she remembered, those ripples stroking and teasing her nerve endings, pressing just right, caressing in the exact spot she needed him, and by the time he was fully embedded within her, she was on the edge. It took that single thrust to have her nearly screaming in the ultimate pleasure.

When her hips finally rested firmly against his, he let out a groan of satisfaction and his hardness twitched within her depths. “Rebecca… Sweet one…” He carefully rocked his hips and pushed inexplicably deeper. “Ride me.”

Yes. Yes she wanted to.

Taking control of her pleasure—their pleasure—she raised slightly and then lowered over him once again. The rhythm was slow and unhurried, gentle as she stoked the flames of their need. His hands roamed her body, squeezing and caressing, pinching her nipples and then teasing her mound. He grasped her ass, using his hold to encourage her further.

With his nonverbal demand she increased her pace, riding him and taking from him. The pleasure of his possession continued to race down her spine, sinking into every portion of her body.

She panted and whined, begging for more and then realizing she could simply steal what she desired. So she rocked and rolled her hips, sliding up and down his length. When he abandoned her breasts to enjoy her ass or the juncture of her thighs, she took over for him. She pinched and rolled her nipples, adding a slight edge of pain to the ecstasy of their joining. It caused her to ripple and clench around him, milk his shaft, and it drew forward a deep moan from Karru.

“So beautiful… So mine…” Karru’s grip on her hips tightened, his strength forcing her to follow his ever-increasing rhythm and force. She rode him, took and gave from him in equal measure as she drew them both toward the edge.

Her peak was there, within reach and, oh, so close. She simply had to snatch it to her. Grasp it with both hands and then bask in that final pleasure.

“Yours. Forever.”

He growled and then he was no longer a purely passive partner. His hips rose to meet her every descent, pounding into her from beneath and sending her pleasure soaring. She was in control, and yet she wasn’t. He was now taking and giving while she merely allowed him to draw her in his wake.

His torment continued, Karru directing their lovemaking, and she could voice no objection. Didn’t want to voice any objection. She reveled in it, reveled in the knowledge that she’d broken his control. He’d snapped and now she was the benefactor.

Her world narrowed to them. Their bodies, their scents, the grunts and groans and pants that escaped their mouths.

The pleasure he caused was pushing and shoving and drawing her to the edge, and she knew he lingered there as well. It was in his expression, the deepness of his eyes, and the heaviness of his breathing.

“Karru…”

He must’ve seen her matching him, must have seen her near ecstasy, and his movements became frantic. The rhythm tripled, his body stretching and straining to give her what she needed when all she required was one simple thing. One nudge that had nothing to do with his length sliding in and out of her and everything to do with his voice.

“Rebecca…”

She lost it then, her world exploding in a blast of overwhelming joy. Sparkles lit up behind her eyes, clouding her vision. The ecstasy he caused overwhelmed her, his warmth and heat consuming her in a blinding wave. Her muscles were no longer her own, her limbs doing as they wished and she trembled as she was rushed along the path to bliss.
