“Sorry,” he said, and he did look genuinely chagrined. “I didn’t mean to eavesdrop. But I did, and well….” He shrugged one shoulder. “I’ve been there. I get it. Coming out is a big decision, and it can be tough. Being out?” He pushed off the wall and moved closer. “Being out is
freedom
. It’s feeling like your skin fits better. You don’t have to pretend, and the people who know you know
all
of you.”

Shaun nodded slowly as Con approached, his heart beating faster. Con stopped in front of him and smiled.

“Have dinner with me tonight.”

Despite everything, Shaun’s immediate reaction was to say no. “Con—”

“It’s just dinner,” Con pointed out, his deep voice smooth and silky. “Not a lifetime commitment.”

Shaun flushed and dropped his gaze. “I know,” he murmured. “It’s just….”

He didn’t know how to finish that sentence.
I’m not attracted to you
would be a bald-faced lie.
I’m straight
would be too, even if he still couldn’t bring himself to admit to anything else out loud.
Maybe I want it to be more than just dinner
was probably closest to the truth, but they had to start somewhere, right?

Con waited, patient.
It’s just dinner
echoed in Shaun’s head.

“All right,” Shaun finally said. He lifted his head to meet Con’s gaze again. “Just dinner it is.”

“JUST DINNER”
was good. Shortly after Shaun finished his shift at four, Con drove them the short distance down to Commerce and picked out a local bar and grill, nothing fancy. Their conversation over some pretty decent steaks and fries ranged from school to sports to music. Con had a computer science degree, no surprise, but Shaun hadn’t expected the master’s in information security. They both loved basketball, Con loyal to his alma mater, Georgia Tech, which was fine with Shaun, who supported Georgia State for the same reason but mostly cheered for whoever was playing against the University of Georgia. When it came to music, Shaun had a soft spot for his gran’s Motown favorites and the 1990s R&B his mother had preferred, and Con nodded approvingly at both.

By the time Con talked him into splitting one of the ridiculously huge, decadent, layers-of-chocolate desserts on the menu, Shaun had relaxed completely. All their “just dinner” talk aside, having dinner with someone when you knew you were both attracted to each other had to qualify as a date, even if nothing else came of it.

But it was fine. It didn’t matter that there was a man across the table from him. Yeah, they still couldn’t get into public displays of affection—not in a mostly rural area in the Deep South—but they didn’t need to. They could talk and laugh and share a gigantic slice of chocolate cake, and none of the rest of it mattered.

They continued chatting on the way back to the resort, Con asking how Shaun’s swimming had been going, Shaun telling him about taking a quick dip before work on Sunday and managing almost six full laps before his stroke faltered. But as Con pulled his car into a space next to his cabin, Shaun fell silent. His heart pounded, his skin flushed, and his palms went clammy.

Then Con touched his shoulder, one big hand gently turning Shaun to face him. “I know we said ‘just dinner,’” he said. “But—”

Shaun reached for Con with both hands and his mouth.

Con met him halfway.

Chapter TWELVE

THEY SLAMMED
through the cabin door, kissing like they needed it to live, and Shaun relished the spark of pain when Con closed his teeth over Shaun’s bottom lip. He didn’t want gentle or slow, not tonight. He didn’t want time to think.

But Con wasn’t going to make it that easy.

Con pulled out of their kiss and backed Shaun up against the wall. “I’ll tell you up front,” he said, breathing hard. “I’m into a lot of things, but I’m not into forcing myself on anyone. If you want this, I need you to say so.”

Shaun’s throat constricted. No way was he going to manage words through that, but no way was he letting Con walk away from him again either. He tried to let his body do the talking, wrapping one hand around Con’s neck and arching his back to press his hips against Con’s. But Con pushed even farther back, and Shaun could see the determination in his eyes. Before Con could ask—again—if Shaun was totally, completely, one-thousand percent into this, Shaun growled and grabbed a double handful of Con’s tight ass.

“Yes, goddammit,” he spat out. “
Please
. Would you just—”

Con could take orders well, even incomplete ones. He locked his hands around Shaun’s head and brought his mouth back to Shaun’s, kissing him with more passion than Shaun could have imagined. Con settled his body against Shaun’s, pressing him into the wall, and slid a thick thigh between Shaun’s legs, which Shaun spread without a second thought. Con smiled into their kiss for just a second and then pressed his leg up against Shaun’s balls, and Shaun moaned deep in his chest as he rode a wave of sensation.

Yeah.
This was what he’d been craving, what had been missing from his previous experiences. Women were great, and some of them had even liked things a little rough, but those memories faded to nothing compared to the feel of a long, hard, big body against his. He didn’t need to be dominated, though he wouldn’t mind trying some of those things Con might be into, but he did want to feel consumed.

Con consumed him inch by inch, running his hands over every part of Shaun’s body he could reach with a firm, deliberate touch that left fire in its wake. His thigh stayed between Shaun’s, the pressure just right against Shaun’s sensitive balls, but Con shifted his body just enough so that their cocks lined up too. Shaun groaned into Con’s mouth and dug his fingertips into Con’s asscheeks, his arousal hitting the redline already, and they’d barely gotten started.

Con broke the kiss but moved away only long enough to look Shaun in the eye. Shaun didn’t know what he saw there, but a moment later, Con moved one of his hands to cover Shaun’s crotch.

“Maybe we should take the edge off a little,” he murmured, and then he flipped open the button on Shaun’s shorts and slid his fingers inside.

Shaun jerked, surprised by the sudden touch of Con’s hand on his bare flesh, but then he moaned and let his head fall forward to rest in the crook at the junction of Con’s neck and shoulder. Con’s grip was strong and sure, and he didn’t waste time with starting slow and building up. They’d had enough foreplay over the last week, and especially the last couple of hours. Shaun lifted his head just far enough to taste Con’s mouth again and let his body take over, thrusting into the tight circle of Con’s hand.

“C’mon,” Con muttered against his lips as he kneaded Shaun’s throbbing cock. “Give it to me.”

And that was all Shaun could take. He convulsed, his orgasm racing through him like lightning, sharp and bright. Aftershocks shook him like thunder, deep and rolling, and Con kissed him again, his mouth soft and coaxing now instead of hard and demanding.

Eventually, Shaun felt Con’s laughter rumble deep in his chest. “That was fucking hot,” Con said. “I’d love to see that happen again. But maybe in a bed next time.”

Shaun managed a smile and pried his eyes open. He could only imagine what he looked like, pants hanging half open, dick on display. But all he saw was the smile on Con’s face, the desire in his eyes.

He leaned up to press another kiss on Con’s lips. “Lead the way.”

THE CABINS
on the property were all set up the same way, a small living area with a kitchenette set off from a bedroom area by a wall but no door. The beds were all kings, with rustic log headboards and all-white bedding. Con had apparently straightened his bed after he got up that morning, but the right side remained wrinkled compared to the still smooth left.

“I guess you’ve got a side of the bed?”

Shaun asked the question lightly, but it was a stalling tactic, and he was pretty sure Con knew it. Yeah, Shaun still wanted this; if nothing else, he wanted to watch Con come at least once. But that didn’t mean his nerves had gone away entirely. Or at all, if he were honest.

Con slipped his arms around Shaun from behind, pulling him gently back against his chest. “It’s not a big deal,” he murmured. “I’m pretty good at sharing.”

He kissed the side of Shaun’s neck, and Shaun tilted his head without conscious thought, giving Con more room to work. Con took the opportunity, mouthing his way across Shaun’s skin and up to nip lightly at his earlobe.

“I want you,” he whispered in Shaun’s ear, sending a shiver down Shaun’s spine. “All I can get from you. But nothing you aren’t ready to give.”

Shaun melted, trusting that Con would take care of him. He turned in Con’s arms and lifted his gaze to meet Con’s, giving him a small smile and an even smaller nod.

It was like setting a match to dry tinder. Con was suddenly everywhere, big hands running over Shaun’s body, tongue pushing into Shaun’s willing mouth. Shaun soaked it all in and gave it all back, pushing at Con’s clothes, aching for his skin. By the time they reached the bed, they were both naked, and Shaun didn’t hesitate, sitting down on the edge and then lying back, taking Con’s hand to pull him down on top of him.

When they settled onto the mattress, Con’s full weight covering Shaun’s body, Shaun drew in a breath and let it out in a long sigh. “God, you feel good,” he rasped, and Con’s laugh rumbled against him again.

“Gonna feel even better in a second.” Con shifted to the side, just enough to get a hand between them, and closed his fingers around their cocks. “Put your hands up, baby, and grab the headboard,” he said. “Let me take care of you.”

Shaun did as Con asked, lifting his arms over his head and wrapping his fingers around one of the smooth wood beams that ran the width of the bed. Con smiled at him and then leaned down to kiss him at the same time that he started to move his hand.

Both touches started out light and easy, sensual, as if they were just dipping into the shallow end. But soon they waded deeper, the kisses turning hotter, more desperate, as Con worked their cocks harder. Shaun’s grip on the headboard tightened like the muscles deep inside, his body reaching for the orgasm that hovered just beyond his reach.

Then Con groaned into his mouth and jerked above him, and the wave broke, dragging Shaun under. Warm wetness hit his stomach, and knowing it wasn’t just from him made him shudder harder. His stomach cramped from the force of his climax, but the slight pain just prolonged the intense pleasure even more.

When he’d recovered enough to think, he had to pry his fingers away from the headboard. They’d clamped down so hard they ached. Con still lay partly on top of him, though he’d shifted to the side to give him room to breathe, so Shaun wrapped his arms around Con’s shoulders and one leg around Con’s hip, unwilling to give up the feel of him yet.

We should clean up
, Shaun thought, but he didn’t want to move.
In a minute.

WHEN HE
came aware again, he was no longer wrapped around Con like a limpet. They’d separated from each other at some point, but he knew he hadn’t slept long. He still felt heavy with the need for sleep, and his body still resonated from his two orgasms, like the echoes of the ringing of a gong.

Shaun didn’t know if the difference was in having sex with a man instead of a woman—not that he had all that much experience with women—or in how he was starting to feel about Con specifically. All he knew is that he felt
amazing
, sated and satisfied and a little sore in all the good ways. And that was without actual fucking.

He froze.
Shit.
Con had done so much with his hands and mouth that Shaun hadn’t even thought about what other body parts might get involved. Now that Shaun had seen the size of Con’s… equipment, the idea of putting
that
inside him…? His ass squeezed up tight at the thought.

Con sighed and shifted on the mattress next to him, and Shaun held himself very still, not wanting to wake up his bed partner. He was actually a little surprised that Con hadn’t stayed wrapped around Shaun in his sleep. Con struck Shaun as the cuddling type, though maybe, like Shaun, he hadn’t spent a lot of time sharing a bed. Especially with his large frame, he could easily take over the whole space without trying all that hard.

Instead Con lay on his side, not far from the edge of the mattress, arms curled under the pillow and knees slightly bent. The glow of the full moon gave enough light for Shaun to see that the sheet had pooled around Con’s waist, the bright white a stark contrast to the deep ebony of Con’s skin. Shaun hadn’t gotten a good look at all of Con’s naked body tonight, but he’d seen Con in a swimsuit, so he didn’t need to see every detail to visualize his rock-hard abs or the dark curls that covered his chest. No, those images were burned into his brain.

But the feel of all that skin, all those muscles… that was new. Running his fingers over Con’s body, squeezing his biceps, grasping at his strong back—Shaun shivered at the memories.

Con stirred, letting out a long breath and then freezing for a long moment before slowly rolling onto his back. He looked up at Shaun, eyelids at half-mast, and his mouth gradually spread into a soft smile.

“Hey.” The low rumble of his voice hit low in Shaun’s belly. “Have a nice nap?”

Shaun reached out and ran his hand across Con’s stomach, feeling the muscles jump under his fingers. “Yeah,” he said. “But it’s kind of hard to sleep when there’s so much to explore.”

At that moment he didn’t care what Con wanted him to do. He’d give almost anything a try, as long as he got to keep touching Con like this.

He slid his fingers across Con’s skin, brushing over a nipple, and Con brought his hands up to grasp Shaun’s hips and pull him over his body. Shaun landed with his legs on either side of Con’s hips, hands planted on Con’s chest, gaze locked with Con’s.

“What do you want?” Con asked.

“Whatever you want to give me.”
