“Change in plans. We won’t be setting the glider down. Ash, find us a spot close enough to the action and low enough to the ground so we can jump.”

Ash turned his attention back to the screen, allowing his fingers to flow over it.

“Mick, when we are clear, take the glider up. Stay under the radar if possible and be prepared to run at the first hint of danger. Dante will contact you when it’s safe to return.”

“Got it.” Mick took the seat Aran just vacated.

“We have five minutes; you may want to go say one final goodbye before we jump.”

The command center was left empty as both the single and mated males made their way out.

Nicolas stood at the emergency exit of the glider. He allowed his humanoid shape to recede as that of his beast took over. Tonight, both of the Crux would die. This wasn’t his first encounter with them. They attacked his home planet several times before and they weren’t looking for the latest advances in technology. They had no interest in that. Instead, they were looking for a new opponent to fight. They found the Created. Very few survived that first encounter, but those who did, felt they had bragging rights. They fought the Created and lived to tell about it. These two wouldn’t be that lucky.

He stepped out of the door into pure air as Aran gave the signal. A safe place to drop was several hundred yards above the top of the tree line. The drop had him rolling as he hit the ground before standing. He waited as Aran went next. Soon they were all on the ground, with Mick taking the glider far enough away not to be spotted by the tainted one.

Nicolas blended in with his surroundings and moved off in the direction of the snarling Crux. The others quickly followed him.

He stopped as he came to the open circle in the midst of the dense forest.

“My guests have arrived.”

In the middle of the circle, far behind both the Crux and the females, stood the tainted one. He was on a podium that was shrouded in shadows allowing him to barely be seen, while staying out of harm’s way.

“Come into the ring. Don’t be shy.” Lights popped on revealing each of the Created. “I wanted to make sure the Crux had a fair fight. I see you didn’t bring your females with you tonight. No matter. There are plenty of other earth females for them to impregnate or kill trying. The first matter of business is the two females hanging so nicely here. The Crux have decided they want them. But to be sporting, since you’ve claimed at least one of them, I have informed the Crux they must eliminate all of you first.”

The force field holding the Crux in place was removed, they dropped to the ground with a roar and ran for the Created.

Nicolas spotted Janis. He immediately began to angle himself to stand between her and the Crux. This was way too close for comfort. He knew the minute she spotted him. A big smile came across her face.

He felt his chest puff with pride when he realized she’d picked him out even though he and his brothers were in alien form. The love he felt for her simply intensified. His mate knew him and she loved him. There was confidence brimming in her eyes, knowing he would bring her home and he would.

“Nicolas, I knew you would come for us!”

“Janis, are you hurt?”

“I’m fine, so is Theresa. He never touched us, just talked us to death.”

“We’re going to get you out of here.”

“I love you, Nicolas.”

The Crux tackled him and together they fell and began to roll.

“This planet has made you soft,” the Crux laughed.

Nicolas said nothing as he continued to direct his enemy far away from his mate. He trusted his brothers would eliminate the other one.

Nicolas used a swift knee to the Crux genitals to break the hold he had on him. The loud noise was enough to let him know he’d hit his mark.

He flipped back and stood. “You may want to put that away if you want a fair fight.” He shot him a cocky grin.

A hard shell formed around the Crux genitals “I’m going to kill you, Nicolas and keep your woman as my toy.”

“I believe you threatened to kill me last time also.” Nicolas laughed. “As you can see, I’m still here.”

The Crux pulled out a weapon he had at his side, causing Nicolas to jump up and catch the branches of the tree overhead.

The weapon destroyed the tree he’d been standing in front of. Nicolas jumped to another tree and made his way around the Crux until he was in back of him. Throwing himself from the tree, he landed on his back, knocking the Crux down and reaching for his weapon.

The Crux knocked him off, losing the weapon in the process. He stood and ran for him. Nicolas’s body elongated and stretched to his true height. His fangs shot out, while his deadly claws lengthened. The two met with Nicolas’s claws going deep into the body armor the Crux wore.

“Not my mate,” Nicolas roared as he tore off the head of his enemy. The ferocious voice of his beast could be heard for miles.

Nicolas stood and stretched. His other side had never been fully present since he’d come to earth. On this planet, there was nothing to control the male who would kill if the moment warranted it.

He wanted to go explore this new planet through his eyes. He wanted to see these things the people crawled around in. He wanted to make his presences known, until he heard her.

Her voice reached out to him, soft and melodic, calling his name. He needed to find her, be with her. Would he scare her? If she saw the real him would she run away?

The thought caused him to hesitate. What if his mate rejected him? He lashed out in anger at a nearby tree, as a deep mourning sound left his lips. What if his mate didn’t love him?

Again, he heard his name being called as he moved in her direction. His huge feet made loud noises on the ground. His mate. He needed to see her. He saw her long before she saw him. She was in the presence of his brothers. Her captor was nowhere to be seen. He’d fled. His stench was no longer in the air.

He walked out into the open and stopped. Would his brothers fight to keep him away from his mate? Would she run now that her eyes were on him? He looked down at her. She was so small and fragile. He would never hurt her.

He watched as she broke away from the others. His name wrenched from her lips before she began to run to him. She never stopped to think. She simply came.

He caught her as she tried to jump up and hug him. His mate. He reached down and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek as he let his alien form recede. Once again, he became the humanoid. His mate couldn’t kiss or hold him in his true form and he needed to get much closer to her.

“Janis.”

“Nicolas. I knew you would come and save me. I knew you would win.”

“When I saw that Crux next to you, looking at you as if you were its next victim…”

“Shh...” She hugged him tightly and placed kisses on him, trying to calm him and reassure him at the same time.

“I never doubted, Nicolas. I knew you would come and I knew you would bring the Cavalry with you.”

He picked her up in his arms as he walked over to his brothers. Aran tossed him a pair of pants.

“You may want to put those on.”

He grabbed them and slid them on in one easy motion. When his other side emerged fully, he’d shredded the pants he’d been wearing.

“What happened to the tainted one?”

“When he realized his two champions were no match for us, he jumped into his own glider and ran before we could go after him,” Aran answered him.

“Why would he only have two Crux against all of us? He knows we are a family. He knows we stick together,” Nicolas said looking over the area.

“Don’t underestimate that Scientist or over simplify his actions. He’s been coming after all of you for several hundred years now. That he would inject himself with Created DNA and follow you to this planet on the outskirts of any remotely intelligent outpost means you are a threat to him,” Dante answered his question.

Aran looked at Hale who held a sleeping Theresa in his arms. She passed out when they attacked the Crux. He thought it was for the best one less memory they would have to adjust.

“Dante is right. He will be back. This was simply to keep us off balance while he plans his final move. Dante, contact your brother. Let’s go home.” Aran gave the command.

Chapter Twenty Nine

Home. Janis was sure if she thought hard enough about it, she could pick out some song from the radio to commemorate coming home. Instead, all she could do was watch Nicolas, who sat in the sitting room with his head and shoulders down.

He’d been sitting that way for over an hour, simply brooding. Nothing she said was getting through that hard head of his. She’d seen his other form in all of its glory. She knew his skull was thick.

Giving up, she went and took a shower. She needed to wash off several days of funk. The joy of being home made her smile, as she hummed a tune about love. Once done, she went into the bedroom and found the naughty surprise she’d picked up when she and Lorali snuck out.

She walked back into the sitting room and stood in front of Nicolas with her hands on her hips.

“Eyes up here,” she ordered.

She heard the audible gasp as his eyes got bigger.

“Care to tell me what has you so down?”

“Care to tell me where you got that outfit?”

“You first.”

“You could’ve been killed. The Crux would have tried to impregnate you. If he didn’t rip you to shreds in the process, the birth of the child would’ve killed you.”

“Dr. Young and his band of merry sons would’ve killed me too, if you hadn’t been there. Every time there has been danger you have saved my life. I don’t know about you, but I’m liking my chances. Before you, my chances were zero. Now, I’d say they were a hundred. Who could ask for more?”

“Janis.”

“Stop. No one knows the future. All I know is I love you. That in and of itself is amazing. I want to be with you, and if possible have your children. Nothing and no one is going to make me change my mind. I spent too much time living in a protective zone, thinking everything would be ok if I simply kept my head down. No more. I’m going to live life and I want to live it with you.”

Nicolas stood up and looked down at her before a smile emerged from his lips.

“We love you.” She saw his other side looking out his eyes as he said it a glow of joy surrounded her.

“Of course you do. I’m awesome.”

He reached down and picked her up. She wiggled in his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck, giving him a deep kiss. He smacked her rear and walked into the bedroom.

“Now where did you find that tempting outfit?” He dropped her on the bed making her giggle.

“Lorali showed me a store she found. It carries special things in it.” Janis reached down and pulled a nipple that was peeping out of the bra she was wearing. It was cut to let her nipples show.

Nicolas’s eyes got big as he watched her fingers play with her nipple, pulling it and pinching it. Then his eyes went down to her crouchless panties, watching her juices seep out of her wet pussy.

He took a nice deep lick of it before coming up to kiss her deeply, allowing her to taste herself on his tongue.

“Your taste is so intoxicating, Angel.”

He replaced her fingers with his on her nipple and pulled at the hard nub, making her moan before his lips came down to suck her nipple into his mouth. The feel of his mouth sucking her and his teeth biting hard enough to bring pleasure and pain had her hands running up and down his back as she encouraged him.

He gave a deep growl before he turned to the other nipple. A wave of fire hit her already needy pussy as the sound of his roar ran down her nerve endings. The sound of his beast’s voice played through her mind as he proclaimed ‘not his mate’.

Her mouth opened on a gasp of needy desire as the two voices had her body convulsing in ecstasy.

He lowered his mouth and dove into her center causing the small gasps to become keening cries as her body convulsed around him.

He gave her one wicked looked before plunging deep into her.

“So good, Nicholas.” Her body came up to meet him, thrust for forceful thrust, as she tried to become one with him.

“Janis.” Her name came out as a plea, as he ground himself deep within her. “I can’t imagine my life without you.”

She wrapped her legs around him as she tried to get closer. “I’m not going anywhere.”

His hips moved faster making her words turn into a frenzy of pleas. One last stroke had her coming apart in his arms as he joined her, sending them both on a sensuous journey.

“Mate.”

“My Alien Angel.”

He stood before her, his true form revealed to her. It was different than anything she’d seen before he’d killed the Crux.

“Where are we?”

“My planet. This is one of the places I enjoy, even though I have never seen it with my true eyes.”

They stood on rocky ground as the sea licked against the shore line. In the distance were several mountain peaks. The moon was high in the sky and the rocky beach shimmered like diamonds in the night. It was beautiful.

“You weren’t sacred of me.”

“You’re my mate. I know whatever form you’re in, you will always take care of me.”

“You’re an amazing mate.”

She laughed. “I do believe I have already told you that.”

He smiled at her. “More will come.”

She nodded her head. “I know.”

“It’s not safe for you with me.”

“It’s not safe for me anywhere, but I’m safer with you.”

“What if I found a place for you where your safety was guaranteed?”

“Unless you plan on being there, I’m not going.”

He smiled at her. A smile she knew would make others run down the street, running from his huge fangs and sharp teeth. It simply made her heart flutter. Her alien angel.

She went over to him and lifted her arms. He bent down and picked her up. She made herself comfortable against his chest and fell asleep.
