“Nope,” he says, and then he stops.

“What are you doing?” I prop myself up on my elbows, shocked that he stopped.

“I’m sorry, baby.” He starts licking me again then stops and says, “I can’t help but savor this sweet pussy of yours.”

I giggle. “Can you savor a little quicker?”

He attacks my clit, licking and sucking on it. He sucks it into his mouth, and his tongue rolls over it. I moan as my orgasm is about to rip through me. Just when I think he’s going to stop, he fucks me with his tongue again, and I know he’s going to let me come this time because he’s rolling my clit between his two fingers, waiting for my juices to explode all over his tongue. I don’t disappoint. I scream his name as he continues to work me and ensure he gets every last drop.

I pant on the bed, and when I try to get up, he pulls my elbows out from under me. It makes me laugh. He rests my legs so they’re hanging over the side of the bed while he takes his pants off. He tosses them aside and grabs my legs, sliding my ass back off the bed. He lines himself up and slams his cock balls deep inside of me.

I bite my lip and moan as he presses my legs to my chest. “Holy shit, Carter, it’s so deep this way.”

He pounds his cock deep inside of me, and it feels so good that my orgasm is building again within minutes.

“You like that, baby?” he says, continuing his rhythm.

“Yes. Don’t stop, please.”

“I won’t stop, baby. I love the way it feels to bury my cock inside of your tight little pussy.”

“Carter…”

Another orgasm shatters me. He slams into me a few more times and then empties himself inside of me. As he releases my legs, he kisses me softly on the lips, then slips out of me and hurries off to the bathroom to clean up. Yawning, I follow him, tired from my lack of sleep.

He grabs a washcloth and wets it with warm water. “Open, baby.” I spread my legs, and he cleans me up with the warm washcloth.

While he does, I say, “I was supposed to have you for dessert.”

“Sorry, I was still hungry. Now, go take a nap, and I’ll wake you in a little while for dinner.”

I nod my agreement. After throwing on some lounge pants, I climb back into bed.

Chapter 13

Patty

I’m really excited that Bella and Derek are coming over tonight. First, I have to deal with my phone. The calls are getting annoying, so I’ve called Officer Phillips to let him know what’s going on. He informed me that Ben is on the run and no one knows where he is. They got a match on the fingerprints, so they know he’s the one who broke in. This means he broke his bail agreement and should be going back to jail, but they can’t find him so it doesn’t matter.

Carter is taking me to pick up my new phone. I was going to simply change my number, but we realized it would be best to turn this one over to the police. My new phone has come in, so the plan is to get it from the store and then drop this one off at the police station for evidence. They’re hoping they’ll be able to track him through it, but it’s not likely since he’s calling from different numbers. He probably has disposable phones that he throws away when he’s done.

“Are you ready, baby?”

“Sure,” I say, closing my laptop and placing it on the coffee table. “I was going through my messages on Facebook. Word really has gotten out about my apartment because people are messaging me to ask if I’m okay. I put a message on my wall saying that I’m fine and that I wasn’t home when it happened.”

He shakes his head. “I can’t believe people can get so wrapped up in other people’s lives.”

“Unfortunately, if you want to be with me, you’re going to have to get used to it because not only am I the stepdaughter of a district attorney, I’m a well-known author.” I roll my eyes, and he laughs.

“I think I can handle it. Now, let’s go get your new phone so we can drop this one off to Officer Phillips.”

“Okay, but please remind me to do a blog and Facebook post on Monday about your toy drive so I can get the word out.”

“We should take a picture together in front of the trees with the gifts we buy.”

I nod. “That’s a great idea!”

We make our way downstairs and head straight for the Jeep. He pulls out and drives to my house. Sure enough, when we pull up, there are some camera crews still camped out. I’m sure there aren’t as many as there were a few days, but some are still there.

Carter shakes his head. “I don’t understand what the deal is. I mean, I get they want to capture news, but how is camping out here catching news? They’re only going to twist the story to make it sound however they want it to sound anyway.”

“I need to talk to Joan. It may be better for me to make an appearance here and give a quick statement that I’m fine and I’m moving in with my boyfriend.” I look out the window, agitated that they’re still here.

“Really? You’re moving in with me?”

I start laughing because he’s so excited. “I was going to tell you on Thanksgiving, but oh well.”

“Nice! Baby, you’ve made my day,” he says. He sounds happier than a kid on Christmas morning.

I have my new phone, and we’ve just pulled up to the police station. I had the workers at the phone store transfer all of my info to the new phone and delete my texts and personal messages so I don’t have to worry about any info being leaked. I text my mother, father, Derek, Bella, and Joan with my new number, explaining that I have to turn my phone over to the police.

We walk into the building, ask for Officer Phillips, and show him the list of random calls that have been coming in.

“Patty was napping the afternoon after the break-in when her phone rang,” Carter explains. “I answered it. He was pissed that it was me, and I told him to stop calling. He wouldn’t say it was him, but I knew it was.”

“Okay, and the number he calls from is different every time?” The officer asks as he goes through the calls.

“There’s one number that he’s used more than once, but that’s it. The rest are different. It’s like he’s using disposable phones and not keeping them,” Carter tells him.

“If he has any brains at all, that’s what he’s doing. It will be harder for us to catch him.” The officer shakes his head. “At this point, we’ll see if he calls again, and when he does, we’ll see if we can trace it. Please keep your new number very private and tell your family to keep quiet about you having it. If he knows you have a new number, he’ll stop calling this one and right now this is the only chance we have of finding him.”

“I’ll let everyone know. Thank you, officer.”

“No problem. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear anything more.”

“Thank you,” I say to him with a small smile.

“No problem. You two stay safe.”

We both thank him again and make our way back out to the Jeep.

When we get back home, Carter finds the name tags we need to work on for the gifts and starts organizing things while I make us a snack. While we enjoy some veggies and dip, he brings up a list of names on his laptop. There are quite a few tags to write, and we have to put the child’s name, age, and what they requested for a toy. People will pick a tag for the person they want to buy for and then leave the gift and tag under the tree. We then need to collect the gifts and wrap them so they can be delivered in time for Christmas.

“Carter, this is a lot of names. Do you think we can collect enough gifts for all of these children?”

“I sure hope so, baby. If not, we’ll have some sad children around town.”

It takes us a while to finish the tags, but we’re done in time for Bella and Derek to come over. Carter puts his laptop away, and I make two piles for the tags so we can drop them off tomorrow. While I do, I try to think of ways I can help him promote this event. We can’t let any of these kids go without a gift for Christmas.

There’s a knock on the door, and when I open it I find Bella and Derek standing there with his arm around her.

“Hey, guys. Come on in. We’re finishing the tags for the toy drive.”

“Nice,” Derek says.

“Yeah, we’re going to drop them off at the two stores tomorrow, and I’m going to announce that I’m helping with the toy drive to help promote it.”

“That’s great!” Derek says. “Thanks, Patty.”

“Derek, I was amazed by the number of kids who need gifts this year. I wish I could do more. Carter and I will go to the stores next week on Black Friday and we’ll make a few purchases to put under the tree. Hopefully, a picture or two of me putting gifts under the tree will help spread the word and get people helping. I’ll also get my dad and mom to help.”

“We appreciate that. Some of these kids are the children of soldiers who were injured overseas and the family is struggling now because they only have one income or are living off of the soldier’s disability and it’s not enough.”

I shake my head. “That’s awful.”

“Yup, but at least we got two stores to match the purchases so if you guys each buy one gift then we have four gifts so that will be a huge help. My hope is to have enough for each child to get two gifts.”

“That would be great,” Bella says, “You can count me in for a gift or two. I’ll also do some posting to promote the event. Send me the info.”

Derek looks at her proudly. “Thanks, babe.”

“Now, on a happier note,” Bella says as she looks at me. “I saw Kelly today, and she wants to know how come you haven’t responded to her email with the new head shots she took of you.”

“Oh my gosh, I forgot all about it. Her email has been sitting in my inbox, but I’ve been so distracted with everything going on, I never even opened it.”

“I told her that,” Bella says, smiling because she had to cover my ass.

I nudge her shoulder. “Thanks.”

“You know I have your back.” She winks at me. “We should look at the pictures while we wait for the food.”

“Or Patty and I can beat you guys in a game of cribbage,” Carter says in an overly dramatic voice, and I can’t help but laugh.

“It will only take a few minutes, Carter, and then we can beat them.”

I walk to the living room to grab my laptop. Then I set it on the counter while the guys order food. Bella takes a seat beside me while I bring up Kelly’s email. There are a ton of pictures attached.

“I didn’t realize she took so many pictures of me.”

Bella shrugs her shoulders. “I wasn’t really paying attention. I’m so used to being in front of the camera I don’t even hear it anymore.”

We’re scrolling through the pictures when Carter walks up behind me. He puts his arm on my shoulder. “Baby, can we print these?”

“Yeah, they’re mine. Why?”

“I really like that one, and I’d like a copy for my desk.”

“I can work on that.” I turn and smile up at him.

“Good. I’m glad you looked at the pictures because now I’ll have one. That way, when I get tired of looking at Derek’s ugly mug at work, I can look at your beautiful face.”

“Oh, aren’t you a fucking comedian,” Derek says as he shoves Carter.

I put my laptop away, and Carter starts shuffling cards while Derek sets up the cribbage board. They are clearly competitive since they are anxious to play and have been trash talking since the other night.

Bella and I take our seats across from each other while Carter deals the cards. We’re halfway through when the phone rings. I get up to answer. It’s the doorman telling us dinner is here.

“Carter, it’s our dinner.”

“Okay, baby, I’m coming.”

There’s a knock on the door. Carter looks through the peephole and sees the delivery guy. I help him carry the food inside while he pays and tips the guy. He locks up and meets us in the kitchen. He got Bella and I our usual, salad, and the guys are splitting a pizza.

While we eat, Bella asks, “Have you spoken to your mother?”

“Quickly the other day. She said she’d spoken to Richard and that they’re working things out.”

“So I guess that means they’re coming to Thanksgiving dinner?”

“Yup. I hope she doesn’t make a scene, though. I won’t be happy.”

“Do you really think she would?” Derek asks. Clearly, he doesn’t know my mother.

“My mother loves two things, money and attention. She isn’t happy unless she has both.”

“No offense, Patty, but she sounds like a royal bitch.”

I laugh. “None taken. She’s tried all my life to get me to be more like her. I’ve told her time and time again I would rather bust my ass and have my own money than marry a man for his. She swears up and down that she loves Richard and I hope she does because it’s a tough life you’re living if you’re not truly happy.”

“Well, I’m glad you’re not like her. You seem like a great person, and Carter is a lot happier now that you two are back together.” Carter and I smile at each other, and Derek cracks a joke. “He was a bit of a bitch for a few weeks.”

Carter’s brows shoot up. “Oh really? Bella, cut him off for a few weeks and let’s see how quickly he turns into a bitch.”

Bella blushes like I’ve never seen before. “Bella, I’ve never seen you so red.”

We all start laughing.

Carter claps his hands together. “Okay, let’s get back to the game so Patty and I can kick your butts.”

We all move to the coffee table with our drinks and continue our game. Right now, Carter and I are ahead but not by much, so it’s anyone’s game. It’s Derek’s deal, so if they are going to catch us, it can happen now. We joke and laugh while we play. We’re having a great time, and we’re all becoming good friends.

Carter and I beat Derek and Bella, so we decide to switch up teams. This time, Bella and me will play against the guys.

We lose, but not by much, and the guys are quite proud. Bella swears we’ll beat them next time. Apparently this is going to become a regular thing for us.

As Bella and Derek are getting ready to leave, Carter and I make plans to meet up at Derek’s house next week. We’ve also agreed to visit both the stores that are participating in the toy drive on Black Friday. We’ll take some pictures in front of the two trees and do a little shopping. Then we’re going to Derek’s for dinner and another round of cribbage.
