“Lib, that you, ma?” he asked. “Come handle something for me.”

He opened the shower curtain and was shocked to find Dahlia standing in front of him with her short silk, kimono robe open, displaying her nude body underneath. One leg was lifted on the toilet and two fingers massaged her stiff clit as she eyed him seductively. “Don’t stop,” she whispered.

The sight of Po’s large dick instantly made Dahlia wet, and she fingered herself as her dark nipples hardened, poking
through the fabric of her robe. Po’s eyes shot to the door, and Dahlia eased his concern.

“She’s downstairs.”

Po mentally weighed his options. Briefly he thought about Liberty, of her jealousy, of her sudden suspicion, but when he thought of how she shut him out and how she had left him once before all guilt went out the window. A beautiful woman was standing before him, ready and willing to please him in every way. Po needed it.

Dahlia sensed his hesitation and before he could tell her to leave she moved over to him and stepped into the shower. She pulled the curtain closed and got onto her knees as the water from the shower soaked her body. She opened her mouth and took his thick, pulsing, manhood into her mouth. Po’s knees almost buckled as the suction from her mouth engulfed his tool. He grabbed the sides of her face, knowing that Dahlia would take him without complaint. He began to fuck her mouth as if it were her pussy, grinding into her as she took it all, deep throating him as she stared up into his eyes. Dahlia was the perfect woman for Po. She was smart and calculating in business, loyal to her man, and fucked like a porn star. She was fit for a king and understood what it took to maintain control at the top. She wasn’t needy; she was needed. That was the difference between her and Liberty, and Po was beginning to take notice.

He pulled her up by her shoulders and pinned her against the shower wall, opening her legs and sticking himself inside of her warm, wanting honey pot. She gasped and
arched her back as he fucked her slowly, making her back slide up and down the slippery tiled wall.

“Ooh, baby,” she whispered. Po leaned back and looked in Dahlia’s face. She rubbed his head and face gently with her hands. She knew just what to do to make him feel her . . . to make him feel like a man, and Po was intoxicated by her at the moment. He and Dahlia had never been intimate until that moment. Yes, they had been physical plenty of times before, but the way their eyes connected and the way they moved their bodies to an unheard beat was more than sex. It wasn’t love, but it was definitely an understood infatuation. Po gripped the back of her neck and kissed her deeply, their tongues slow dancing as their bodies grinded into each other.

“Ooh, Po, you deserve to be happy, baby. I can make you happy,” Dahlia whispered.

“I know, ma,” he moaned back as he pushed his pelvis into her so deep that she was stuck between undeniable pleasure and slight pain.

“Po . . .” Liberty’s voice was like a bomb that exploded in his ear and caused Po and Dahlia to pause immediately, breathing hard, as Po’s eyes widened from being caught off guard. He put his hand over Dahlia’s mouth and put one finger to his lips.

“What up?” he shouted back, knowing that Liberty would enter the bathroom.

Dahlia smiled wickedly as she slowly winded her waist, still fucking Po as Liberty stepped inside.

Po’s entire body shook from the pleasure that Dahlia
was giving him. The threat of being caught made his dick even harder.

“Can we talk?” she asked as she stood outside of the shower.

Dahlia snapped her pussy on Po mercilessly. Tightening her pelvic floor, doing Kegels around his shaft as she grinded slowly, her body moving like a snake. Po put his hand on the shower wall to brace himself as he responded, “It’s not the time. Rocko’s waiting outside. We can talk when I get back. Do me a favor and go tell him to come inside for a second.”

“Okay,” Liberty replied.

As soon as Po heard the bathroom door shut he put his hand around Dahlia’s throat, pinning her roughly against the wall as he fucked her ferociously.

“You’re dangerous,” he growled in her ear.

“And you love it,” she answered. Po exploded inside of her, then rested his forehead against Dahlia’s as they panted from exhaustion.

“I want you for myself, Po,” Dahlia whispered. She kissed him deeply, then stepped out of the shower and discreetly crept back to her room.

Po put both of his hands on the shower wall and lowered his head to his chest as he gulped in air. The water pounded over him, and he closed his eyes. Liberty wasn’t keeping her place locked, and Dahlia had crept into her home and was slowly beginning to take her spot. Po knew that eventually the situation would come to a head. He only hoped that he was man enough to let Liberty go before he broke her heart.

Po quickly washed himself, then turned off the water and wrapped a towel around his waist as he went into the walk-in closet. Dressed in Polo boots, True Religion jeans, and a YSL V-neck, he was ready to hit the streets.

Just as he was about to leave he noticed the row of shoe boxes that Liberty had perfectly aligned on the shelves.
“As long as she ain’t putting up that shoe box money then you’re good.”
Dahlia’s words played on repeat in his head as he stared at the boxes. Po wanted to trust Liberty, but it was obvious that they were past the point of the benefit of the doubt. He pulled a Fendi box down and lifted the top and a pair of six-inch heels lay inside. The anxiety in his chest immediately deflated, and he began to feel like a fool.
What are you doing? She would never betray you,
he thought, feeling guilt from the attraction he was starting with Dahlia. He went to put the box back in its place and knocked down the one that sat beside it. Hundred dollar bills fell out and spilled out onto the floor. Po’s temper flared immediately, and he didn’t even bother picking up the cash before storming out of the room.
She knows that she doesn’t have to hide money. I’ma look out for her. She wants to go? Then she can fucking go. I made that clear from the beginning.

Po was too angry to confront her. Anyone else would have had the hit squad at their front door without hesitation, but Po had a soft spot for Liberty. He was vulnerable with her and didn’t know how to confront the issue. When he saw her standing at the bottom of the steps it took everything in him not to slap fire from her. He walked past her.

“Po,” she called, trying to get him to speak to her. She
didn’t know how much longer they would last in their current state. She grabbed at his arm, but he snatched it away, harder than he meant.

She frowned and looked at him sadly. “Po, we need to—”

Po turned to her and stared in her face. In another lifetime they would be perfect for each other, but today, in this reality, they were tearing each other apart. He wanted things to work with her. He felt that their hearts were connected in a much deeper way than with Dahlia. Walking into that hospital and saving her from Samad’s flying bullets was destiny. He couldn’t understand why it was so hard to make it work. Money was plentiful in Po’s camp. Liberty should have known better than to steal from him. Her actions were unforgiveable.
If you can’t trust a bitch with your paper, that’s it,
he thought. Liberty could see the hurt in his eyes, but she had no idea where it was coming from.

“Not now, ma. This isn’t the time for us,” he said. That one statement meant so much more than what was said. Knowing that no sin was greater than the next, he was speaking not only about her betrayal but also his own. He shook his head and walked out the door, leaving Liberty standing there wondering what had just occurred between them.

Dahlia watched from her bedroom window as Po entered Rocko’s black Escalade. As if he knew she was watching he turned around and peered up at her. Their eyes locked for a brief moment, and then he hopped inside, riding away.

“What was all that about?” Rocko asked.

Po slumped in his seat, obviously stressed as he ran his hand over his face. “Women problems, fam,” Po admitted.

Rocko shook his head and said, “Better get like my nigga, Jay-Z. 99 problems, you feel me? Don’t let no pussy get in between this money.”

Po shook his head. “Never that. The money is priority number one. Always,” Po assured. “I’ll figure this shit out with Liberty.”

Rocko’s lips curled up into a smile. “That wasn’t who I was talking about. The bitch you fucking with is in a whole different league, fam.”

Po knew there wasn’t any point in lying to Rocko. That was his man. “It’s that obvious?” Po asked. He had thought he and Dahlia had been careful; that he had been respectful and had kept Dahlia at a comfortable distance, but somewhere he had slipped. Somewhere, Dahlia had crept close to him, and unfortunately, he liked it.

“Only nigga that can’t see you hitting that is a blind one,” Rocko said truthfully.

Rocko was right. Po had to clean up the mess he had made before it exploded in his face.

Liberty stormed up the steps and into Dahlia’s room. She wasn’t a fool. She was beginning to sense snake in Dahlia, and she was about to mow her lawn.

“Knock much?” Dahlia asked as she stood in the full-length mirror, applying her makeup.

“Not in my own house. That’s what you seem to be forgetting, Dahlia. This is
MY
house, and Po is
MY
man,” Liberty said blatantly, putting it out on the table. She was tired of holding her cards and biting her tongue.

Dahlia chuckled but didn’t even turn around to face Liberty. Liberty wasn’t a factor and was barely competition.
This bitch couldn’t keep her man away from me if she tried,
Dahlia thought.

“I haven’t forgotten anything, Liberty. I know exactly where I am and who I’m dealing with. Do you?” she asked calmly.

Liberty crossed her arms and began going to Dahlia’s closet pulling out her clothes. She tossed them on the floor, pulling every piece of fabric she saw off of the racks. “Get your shit and get out!”

“We both know that Po won’t have that,” Dahlia said arrogantly as she continued to cater to herself in the mirror. There was no part of her that was threatened by Liberty. It was only a matter of time before Po figured out that Liberty was a liability. He didn’t need her when he had a woman like Dahlia who was well versed in the life. She knew how to play her role to a tee.

“He’ll never choose you over me,” Liberty seethed. She wanted to slap the smug expression off of Dahlia’s face, but instead, she retreated knowing that Po would handle the problem for her.

TWENTY-FIVE

PO WAS KNEE-DEEP IN THE GAME AND
moving more diamonds than any other supplier in the Western Hemisphere. By graduating from bricks to stones, he had become one of the most notorious businessmen in the world. His name rang bells among society’s elite, and the underground network of buyers that he had assembled was unlike anything that anyone had ever seen. Po brought his street smarts to a different arena and dominated in the diamond exchange. It was at a point where Zulu needed him just as much as Po needed Zulu. Po was no longer a small distributor for Zulu. They were partners, and it was time that Zulu acknowledged him as such.

“It’s about time to take that trip overseas,” Po stated. “With the amount of diamonds I’m moving it’s time to renegotiate. The nigga Zulu only works through Dahlia, and that’s a problem. It’s time he came through me. I move more diamonds than Omega ever could. If he don’t want to come through me, then we’ll pull out.”

“As much as we moving he need to lower the price,” Rocko stated as he guided his car through the city.

“It’s not about the price, fam. I want a stake in the mines,” Po said.

Rocko’s eyes widened knowing that if Po got a percentage of the diamond mines then they could go legit. Washing the dirty money they had accumulated would be simple once ownership of an African mine was confirmed.

“When are you going?” Rocko asked.

“When are
we
going?” Po replied. “I’m thinking the sooner the better. Like in the
A.M
. It’s time you meet the connect.”

The silence that filled the walls of Po’s home was maddeningly loud as he entered. Po knew that a storm was brewing before he even saw Liberty sitting in the dark kitchen, sipping hot tea at the table. Deep in thought, Liberty didn’t speak. Her eyes were downcast and sorrow filled her as she thought of Po. She wondered what had made Dahlia so cocky. Her cousin seemed too confident that Po would come to her defense. Liberty was vexed at the thought of Po choosing Dahlia over her. Po turned on the light and jumped when he finally noticed Liberty sitting there.

“Why are you sitting in the dark?” he asked.

“I’ve been sitting here all day. Trying to figure out why and when you and I went left. The only thing that I can blame it on is Dahlia,” Liberty said as she squinted as if she were contemplating the issue. “Ever since she’s been here,
me and you have been distant. While we’re growing apart, you and Dahlia are growing closer together. What type of shit is that?”

Po knew that it was a conversation worth having, but now was not the time. He needed Dahlia for the Africa trip, and he didn’t want Liberty clouding his judgment right now.

“I told you earlier, ma. Now is not the time. I’m making this trip tomorrow to Africa, and I need my head clear for that,” Po said.

“Dahlia’s going?” Liberty asked dryly, already knowing the answer to her question.

“You know she’s going, ma. We do business together,” Po replied, full of guilt that he had to lie to her. He hated himself at that moment. This was not the type of man that he had ever intended to be. The last thing that he wanted to do was hurt Liberty, but he was beginning to think that they just weren’t built the same.

“It seems like you doing a lot more than business with her,” Liberty snapped sarcastically. Her voice shook as she thought of Po and Dahlia together. She waited for his response, but his silence confirmed his guilt.

“How long have you been fucking her?” Liberty asked.
