“You owe both of us an apology,” Dick says narrowing his eyes at me.

“For what?”

“Seriously?” he asks tossing his hands up. “Peter, handle him.”

“Your dad is right,” he says crossing his arms over his chest. “What kind of man would bring the woman he loves home to meet his parents only take her away again?”

“Look…” I try, but they were not having it.

“You look,” Dick snaps. “We raised you, boy, you don’t think we can’t see the more she gives you, the more you take from her? When are you cutting ties then? After she saves your sorry ass? Ashamed,” he growls. “Fucking ashamed. We did not raise you to abuse a woman’s heart like that. If you could have heard what she and I discussed outside you’d be… You know what? You’re right. You’re grown. You go ahead and handle it how you see fit. But just know that you cut her loose, there’s a good chance she won’t be there when you get your sense back.”

“Son,” Peter says sadly. “If I can feel you pulling back, she can too. She’s fighting a losing battle, and you’re setting her up for heartbreak. You give her just enough to give her hope. You know better.”

“She will sacrifice her life for mine,” I tell them. “If I tell her how I feel, if I keep her, she will die. Be ashamed of me, I don’t give a fuck. If I have to let her go so she can live, I will fucking let her go. She’s life, you’ve seen it. She deserves to live it.”

“What about you?” Dick asks. “How will you live?”

“I’ll manage.”

“No,” Peter says. “You won’t and neither will she.”

“Have you rid the world of evil yet?” Cinn asks on a laugh. The girl was the closest thing I’ve ever had to a friend. As kids, we had no worries. Life was easy, and it did not include good versus evil. Then still kids, we were taught differently. I was raised by my grandpa, Cinn wasn’t so lucky. She wasn’t raised; she was taken.

“I have to sleep sometimes,” I counter. “Besides, if I scrape off all the evil what will you do to make money?”

“True,” she says laughing. Cinn doesn’t laugh enough. Honestly, I couldn’t believe she laughed at all. If I was in her shoes, I’d have shot myself.

“The crime world isn’t all it’s cracked up to be,” she says. “These idiots couldn’t survive without me.” This was true. What was also true was Cinn herself, kept the streets balanced. I had to give her props for that.

“Are you calling in your favor?” Please say yes…

“No,” she sighs. “Not yet. But soon, Camo, like real soon.”

“You’ve got my number.” Please use it…

“And you’ve got mine.”

This might be the most surreal moment of my life.

What started in the women’s bathroom at Lush, was moved to the security room upstairs. Seriously, Jules Allen’s security setup almost rivaled mine.
Almost.
I’d met the men, who are now downstairs with Gage and Roman. But according to Venessa, this was
girl time
.

With Kandace on my right, I was looking at Venessa, who was my size but seriously pretty and clearly had demons.
Finally, someone else that was height-challenged and fucked in the head.
Jules was off to the left, and while she was small, she was fucking spooky. Flaming red hair, bright blue eyes and an aura that said,
bring it, I’m into pain
. Macy was by the door, tall and carried herself like a model. Kandace filled me in on her and let’s just say, I could see all sides that were Macy. And then there was the wild card… Lina.

Smaller than all of us, tons of black eyeliner and her aura said,
I don’t give a fuck, and I don’t know which day it is
. When I was asked a question, I answered, and I’m telling you, Lina didn’t just listen, she…
heard
.

I didn’t know what she heard, but the more I spoke, the less deadly she appeared.

Needless to say, these chicks were alright.

Looking up at Kandace I almost laughed. Now here we had a brilliant doctor in a room full of psychotic women, and she fit. Kandace shared their stories which let me tell you… holy shit. Some of it I’d heard, some I hadn’t but seeing the women responsible made me want to celebrate the sisterhood. What these women pulled off made them legends in my book.

“Camo’s a hitter,” Kandace announces and she did it with pride. “She kills bad guys for money. A lot of money.”

“Good to know,” Jules says smiling. “Could be handy.”

“Aw,” says Macy clapping. “Our clique is growing! Do you take referrals? My gyno is asking for it.”

“I can see it,” says Venessa. “And I approve.”

“Truth,” says Lina coming toe to toe with me. “I like the truth.”

“I feel left out,” Kandace pouts. “If I whack somebody can I be a member?”

“Honey,” Jules says squeezing her hand. “You’re the resident doc. Without you, we’d be dead.”

“True,” she says perking up.

“Have you ever hesitated?” Lina asks.

“Nope.”

“I like you,” she smiles. Jesus, she was really fucking pretty too.

“What’s not to like?” I ask her.

“Rizzo,” she tosses out and I freeze. “I worked that file; it went down as a hit. Let me amend, a professional hit. If you tell me you nailed Rizzo, I’m buying you a drink.”

“Rumrunner,” I grin remembering Rizzo. “And make it a double.”

After we swapped stories, we head down to the boys where I met the men that stood next to the women. Where Rogan was slow to warm up, once he did I decided he’d be a good ally. Rafe, well…that man needs a speech therapist. Tony had that aura that said,
look at me now look at my woman, it's okay to be jealous
. And finally Max, the owner and Jules’ man. He was a quiet guy which shocked me considering he was NBA huge. His aura though, his was subtle. His said,
don’t tempt this beast out of its cage
. Noted.

Coming to Gage’s side, I looked up as he was looking down. Kissing me hard on the mouth I whispered in his ear, “These men have nothing on you.”

Kissing me again, he says back, “What men?”

Throwing my head back, I laugh really fucking hard. When we left his parents place, he was off, and I knew this because I felt it. He was relaxed now and between the rumrunners and his kiss, I let the doubt go. I was being honest with Big Daddy. If he let me go, I’d deal. I wouldn’t like it, but the truth was I knew loving him was a one-way street. Yes, I hoped to change his mind but I feel his caution, his need to keep me at a distance. Gage cares about me. He also struggles with my protecting him. As long as he doesn’t push me too far, I would allow him the time he needs to work it out in his head. But for now he was mine, and I had to focus on that. The future was the future, and it would play out as fate intended.

Satisfied with my pep talk, I leaned in closer to him and watched Kandace hit the stage where she proceeded to blow every damn mind in the place, including mine.

“She’s eating up our business,” Pilgrim yells. “That contract should have been ours! How the fuck did she even get it?”

“Don’t know,” I shrug. It’s true, I didn’t know and didn’t much care. She got it, executed it and was paid.

“She’s your competition, Gadget. How the fuck don’t you know?”

“Last time I checked, it was your job to know.”

“She’s not my side piece!”

Leaning over his desk, I put my hands on his files, putting my face in his. “Watch that mouth,” I warn him. “Or one day it’ll get you killed.”

Whatever happened upstairs would likely be a well-guarded secret. All I know is now there were six men leaning against the bar watching six crazy women grind on each other. The men might be used to this, but I was not. There was still a lot about her I didn’t know. I’d never known Camo could dance. That she
liked
to dance. That she was really fucking
good
at dancing or that she could hold her liquor.

The six females were all in synch, laughing and at the same time every last one of them had a vibe that told other males to fuck off. Only one male wasn’t listening. He was waiting to get Camo away from the herd and pounce. He did this because it was clear she was the youngest. This idiot assumed young meant vulnerable. He’d be wrong. Rome leans in and says, “Ten bucks says she puts him in the hospital.”

“I bet your female fights dirty,” Rogan grunts.

“Where’s the pudding?” Rafe says out of nowhere.

“Jell-O asshole,” Rogan clarifies. “And it’s for chicks only, just shut up and watch this play out.”

“You cool?” Rome asks.

“No.” And I wasn’t. Because seconds later, the guy brings her hips to his cock, and I watched my God damn woman’s fists clench. Then her girls’ fists balled up next. Each one of these women could kick this prick’s ass. But if six went at him, they’d kill him. All I knew was; he was touching my girl.

My
fucking girl.

Temporary or not, she belonged to me.

“Oh shit,” Rome says but it didn’t register. What did register was Camo trying not to cause a scene with the asshole trying to dry hump her. Tagging him by the back of the neck, I bore down on him by bringing a knee up to his gut and a fist to his temple. When his buddy showed up, I introduced my foot to the back of his knee and double tapped his chin. When he went down, I tossed him next to his buddy. Some dipshit pushes me and when I turn I see Camo laughing at the dumbass. “Rookie mistake!” she yells out and before he could rear back, I gave him my best uppercut. When he hits the floor, I look around wanting more. Fuck, t
oo easy
. As the crowd parts, I hear Jules yell out, “On it!” as she runs off. According to Kandace, she likes to alter her feeds. Personally I didn’t care if she erased the fights or not. Rome had brought my sister to his side; she was safe, good. The other females were grinning next to their men, but mine was not.

Mine liked violence.

Lust was deep in her eyes, I responded to it. I couldn’t handle another man touching her, needed him erased, so I made it an order. “Get over here.” With a huge grin, she takes three big steps before leaping into my lap. “You,” she says for the crowd to hear. “Saved me!” When they cheered, she faked a faint going limp in my arms. Feeling her body shake with laughter, I almost joined in. With my hands supporting her ass, she sits up and locks her arms around my neck. “Leaving,” I tell the group not caring if they heard me or not. With a semi-drunk (four rumrunners, doubles no less) Camo begging to fuck in my ear, I managed to get the cab doors open before tossing her in.

“Undress,” I growl. “Now.”

Faster than I thought possible, she tore her skinny jeans off, and I noticed she was bare from the waist down. “Fuck.”

“What?” she asks sweetly. “I’m a sure thing.”

Spreading her legs in welcome, I shuck my jeans, toss them on the floor and climb inside the cab. Pulling the door, I stroke my cock and watch as she pinches her nipples. “Hard and rough,” I tell her. “It’s all I’ve got.”

“Wet and ready,” she says reaching for me. “Come to me, Gage.”

Wasting no time, I push her legs farther apart and thrust inside. It wasn’t with skill or patience. No, I needed to fuck my woman and fuck her right. I didn’t worry about anyone seeing. My windows were blacked out. I didn’t worry about anyone hearing because fuck them. With her nails in my back, tongue in mouth and cock deep in that pussy, I fucked her steady, laying claim.

“Oh fuck yes!” she screams arching up. “Harder, Gage, please…”

“Trying to kill me,” I groan but fuck her harder.

And Camo being Camo, bites my chest and drives me even higher. “Twenty bucks says you can’t make me come twice.” But when she starts screaming I smiled. Convulsing beautifully, I don’t stop. Fuck that, she made a wager, and I wanted to win. Flipping her over, with her face pressed against the window I made her come again. “That’s two,” I moan. “But I’m an over achiever.”

“Wha---?”

Sitting up, I pull her to me straight over my lap. With my fingers deep in her hips, I work her over me. She anchors herself with her hands on each head rest. Leaning in, I suck her perfect tits and she digs her heels into the seats. “Cheater!” she wails coming all over me.

Only then did I take mine.

And it lasted a long fucking time.
