“Maybe I am.”

“Well, I could probably make my way back here, once things are sorted out in Texas. Maybe see if you could use an assistant.”

“I think I probably could,” I said, “especially one as helpful as you.”

“Yep,” he said, and he grinned. “Especially one as helpful as me.”
