“More.” I demanded, but he only poured half.

“I don’t understand you. Why can you not just give in?” He sighed, shaking his head.

“Dio, I need wine, not a lecture. So just let me be and give me more.” I was upset at myself for the emotions I was feeling. I thought that I had worked everything out.

Even seeing Apollon brought out nothing, but indifference. His significance in my life was so little to me now, that I wouldn’t even notice him if he was here.

“Enough with the wine” Dio mocked. “You’re starting to sound drunk.” I sneered at Dio, as he laughed at my attempt to be fierce with him. “I should know.” He continued. “I’m drunk most of the time.” He smiled and poured the rest into his Kylix. I always enjoyed Dio’s company. There were never any expectations, just a simply friendship.

In a flash I felt my instincts kick in, I looked for my sisters. Our whole family converged.

“Did you feel it?” I asked.

“We all felt it.” Eirene responded.

“Even tonight? By the gods! Fine.” I bobbed my head.

I had grown tired of the latest attacks, knowing that they were mere games they were playing, but we had no choice, but the play.

“Agape and Zoe you stay here, if we need anything come. Eirene, Eva, do you want to suit up or what we have is enough?” I asked smiling, knowing we three didn’t really care. Before I could finish my sentence Eirene had her axe out ready on her shoulder.

Eva had reached for her weapon and said “Let’s go.”

I called for Hermes who opened a portal to the lower grounds. He reached with his staffed and a tear appeared. It’s was as though he ripped the air and within it another world appeared.

“I opened the portal pretty far from the attack, so you’ll need to run fast.” The three of us stood in front of the tear.

“So what is our bet this time?” I asked.

“Whoever kills the most Diavolis will have complete control of the other for an entire day.” Eva smiled wildly with her choice. ‘
This time you’ll be my slave.’

“Fine with me” I rolled my eyes at her.

“What about you Eirene?” I asked.

“It’d be great to boss you two around.” Eirene grinned.

Before we could leave, Zeus appeared with our honored guests.

“What of the men? Will they not join you?” He asked.

“What of them?” I asked.

“Do you not need them?” He questioned.

“There is no need for them. There are only a few Diavolis to tend to.” I said and with that, we three disappeared through the rip in the sky.

We landed quite far and began to run at high speeds. The feeling of running this quickly was always exhilarating, the sense of barely touching the ground. The blades of grass grazing at our legs, the wind breezing by us, even our surrounding blurring as we ran, was exhilarating.

The fight itself was not worth much effort, only about ten Diavolis were there and we dealt with them swiftly.

I knew we were being watched, I didn’t think much of it at the time. I pushed it out of my mind and focused at the demons in front of me.

As the fight ended Hermes appeared. Eirene yanked her axe out of the last monster’s body and walked over to him. Her Diavolis withered in pain and then turned to dust.

“You are covered in their guts” Hermes said while examining us.

“Well how would you like us to look like? It’s not as though we can kill this things easily.” Eva stated as she tried to wipe off large pieces of slime from her body.

“The elders are waiting” Hermes then pointed to another rip he created. We walked through it leading us back to the banquet.

Zeus and Osiris stood next to a younger man. He stared straight at me as our eyes met. His eyes were a colour that I had never seen before. They were clear like fresh water. His look was so sharp that it nearly cut me where I stood. I bowed my head a little, not wanting to seem disrespectful to him.

“You three did well. I was glad to show our guests the skills that our new immortals have.” Zeus reached out his hand towards us motioning for us to walk closer.

I gave my sisters a look to be cautious, especially since we looked to way we did. I could feel my body reacting to the bite that I had from a Diavolis. I walked over cautiously.

‘So you know I won!’
Eva was letting me know.

I looked over to her and shook my head no. We stood in front of Zeus now, having a debate on who won our bet.

“Father since you watched our fight, tell my younger sister here, that I won.” Eva said without caring about decorum. I laughed which caused my stomach to react badly. I held it in as best as I could, but the miasma was working its way through.

“I watched the battle and it was your younger sister who won. You were too preoccupied to notice, but she killed most of them.” The young man spoke.

I smiled. “You see. I tried to be nice, not to mention it, but you’re so eager to call it. Now you are my slave, well both of you are.” I said trying not to smirk and control my stomach.

“How would you know? You probably didn’t see anything.” Eva said to him.

“I would know, my eyes tell me so.” He retorted.

“And who are your eyes to tell you?” Eva snapped back.

“Eva” I bit out.

‘What? He’s being annoying.’
She thought. My look was enough to stop her. She bowed her head, but only slightly.

“I am Osiris’ son, Horus. My eyes are my gift.” He answered her.

‘His familiar is a falcon, he is the most beloved of all of Egypt, don’t do anything stupid.’
I heard Dio’s voice in my head.

Eirene bowed. “It is a great pleasure to meet you.”

“I hope that our skills pleased you.” I added.

What is it with you guys, his just another god. Why are you two acting this way?’
Eva’s face barely hid her thoughts.

I reached over, placing my hand behind her head and made her bow lower.

“I must admit your skills are greater than expected. For the first time I’m truly impressed.” He continued. “It is nice to know that the Greeks are finally able to contribute to the fight against these creatures.” Horus sneered.

Osiris gave him a look of anger that even made me shiver.

“What father? Do we need to really placate them? All of us in the different pantheons have had to pull the weight of the Greeks. What? Do we really need to hide this now? At least they have finally found responsible fighters, who will be able to help turn the tide to our favor.” I knowingly looked over to Zeus. I watched as he was seething, but controlled his temper. It’s not like I didn’t agree with Horus, but to disrespect us in our home was too much for me.

“I would like it if you would hold your tongue.” I spoke up. “I don’t know all the politics yet, but I know that with my family, we will change your thoughts of the Greeks. We will bring forth peace and you will be the one seating back watching.” I was breathing heavily, but kept my temper down. I wasn’t about to let him affect me, but I was so preoccupied with what just happened that I had forgot about the miasma.

My stomach must have gotten even more upset and I could no longer hold it back. The green vile came out of me, boring a hole where it lay. I hunched over. So much vile had come out of me that I had little energy left. I had not realized, but Horus was the one holding onto me.

“Are you alright?” He whispered, as he rubbed my back. “Your weapons, can you not retract them now?” He continued to whisper. I nodded and obeyed. He reached for my arms the moment my weapons were gone,

“What is this?” He shouted. I tried to yank my hands back, but he wouldn’t let me. “I asked what this is. I could see your bones. How did you sustain so much damage?”

Our eyes met, but all I could do was try to hold back the rest of the miasma.

“This is what happens when she fights. The harder she fights the more damage she can deal to the Diavolis.” Zoe had walked up from behind and knelt down next to me.
‘It’s almost over. I could see it moving in your body. Don’t hold it in, let it out.’
She held me and looked for acknowledgment that I heard her. I turned my body and let out what was the last of the miasma.

“What you’re telling me is that for her to be able to inflict greater attacks, she must sacrifice herself.” He was disgusted with the notion.

“Who would do such a thing to you? Would it not be enough for you to have a simple weapon and deal with the creatures like you sisters do?” His look moved from disgust to concern. “So this is the great power the Greeks now have? You must sacrifice yourselves to gain power over our enemy.” He grunted. “It’s sacrilege!”

I steadied myself, holding onto Zoe.

I was tired of having to defend what now belonged to me, what was mine, what made me, me.

“It may be sacrilege to you, but I am an immortal and I am proud to carry a weapon that can destroy these creatures more easily. We all must make sacrifices. I don’t mind baring this.” I bowed to him and began to walk away. He ran after me and I stopped in my tracks.

“I will help you go back, you had just been bitten!”

I laughed at his concern, not because of anything, but more for the fact that he really did not understand immortals, he should perhaps sit down and speak to his.

“There’s no need.” I reached and took his hand off me. “I am fine now and in about an hour’s time, I will be as good as before. I leaned in closer to him. “Thank you again for your concern, but you should be more frightened of me now, because I will be the one who will shift the power back for us.”

I followed the path back to my home, but before I could reach it I felt a presence.

Are you ok now? Do you need anything?’
His voice sounded different in my mind.

“This is the first time you use my gift. Why?” I asked. He moved from behind a large tree, his large body illuminated by the moon.

“I wanted to feel closer to you somehow and this is what I thought of.” Hephaistos stood far from me.

We stood looking at each other. I could feel the cold night air slowing moving in. I lowered my face, not wanting to look at him directly. I started my way again.

“Are you? Are you really proud? Are you happy? Or am I a monster to have created these blades for you?” He asked quietly into his chest still leaning against the tree. I had promised myself that I would be honest with him now, that only he would know what was in my heart.

“At first I was angry, resentful. Your special attention gave me a weapon that harmed me, but after some time, I realized that I have an ability greater than the rest. That I can fight and kill these creatures quicker, for that, I now feel grateful. I feel like you took the time to appreciate my skills. So now I am proud of my weapons and of whom I’ve become because of them.” I didn’t wait for him to respond to me, so I continued my way back home.

Home

I awoke to hear the thoughts of Bellerophon and Eva. Both were thinking of each other. Their love was one that I could only have understood through their thoughts. He was quiet and reserved, she was loud and playful, but it was in their private moments that their love for each other was plain to see. I had to admit I was jealous, it came easy for Eva. She knew what she wanted and went for it, not like me, where I hid myself behind everything and anything I could.

As I lay in my bed my thoughts were interrupted by Eirene’s, she was trying to calculate how long we’ve been here, she was right it did seem about three years now. I crawled out of bed and got dressed, by the time I reached the kitchen I knew what was running through Eirene’s mind.

“I don’t think it is wise, it’s best that we don’t involve them in our new lives.” I said as I reached for a cup of water. Eirene moved her plate aside.

“Why not? They knew, that’s why the trained us. So why can’t we just go back and see them? We don’t have to let them know we’re there. I just…I just want to know that their alright.” Eirene’s melancholy voice had saddened me.

“We’re being watched now. What if we go and then when we leave? They could find them and use them Eirene, what then?” I retorted.

“Could one of you please tell me what you are talking about? I really hate the fact that you could have these half conversations.” Eva butted in.

“Ever since you left that night, you never once looked back. You never once cared about them. They’re our parents Psykhe, they matter!” Her voice began to get louder and my annoyance was growing.

“I truly hate it when you constantly act so high on yourself. I may not have been there, but I have always loved my parents. They were my parents too! I’m not some kind of monster that does give a shit!” I yelled back. “Why don’t you use your gift and see their future?” I said angrily.

“Both of you stop!” Agape always hated arguments especially among us. “It’s too early in the morning for bickering.” Agape raised her voice so we could hear her. She was trying to control the atmosphere around us, but it wasn’t working,

“Quiet! I don’t want to hear anything from you!” I yelled back at her. I was too resentful at Eirene’s comment to care about what time of day it was.

“Don’t you think I’ve tried?” Eirene screamed. “Don’t you think I have done all I could to find out?” Her eyes were accusing me of betrayal. “You know, you who is always in our heads. My gift doesn’t work that way just yet. Every day I practice, every damn day my gift has gotten better, but I still can’t see father or mother.” Eirene stood up and threw the plate at me. I moved to the side before it reached me. I watched her stalk out of the room.
