AT ELEVEN FIFTY-NINE
on the evening of July fourth, a beautiful baby girl named Logan Caroline Wexler was born. As Sandella sat upright in the hospital bed, her physician eased her darling daughter into her arms.  Feeling extremely blessed, she cradled her baby against her bosom then kissed her forehead.

Braylon stood over her bed smiling down at her and Logan. “She’s beautiful just like you,” he said, gently swiping Sandella’s errant bangs matted to her forehead in with the rest of her damp hair. He then trailed a finger over her cheek. “Thank you for giving me this precious little angel. You’ve made me the happiest man on earth.” He bent down to kiss her cheek.

She glanced up at Braylon, tears wetting her eyes. “This is the best day of my life. Well, one of the best days. Marrying you is the other.”

“Mine too.” He slid his hand in his pocket, pulled out a white velvet bag, reached in, then extracted a beautiful sterling silver bracelet. Holding the expensive piece of jewelry up, he let it dangle in the air before her eyes. “This is for you,” he said, circling it around her wrist.

Admiring the keepsake, she twisted her wrist to get a good look at the pink diamond charm attached to it. It was a baby shoe. “Thanks. I love it.” His eyes gleamed. “Every time you give me a baby, I’m going to add a different charm to your bracelet. Hopefully, you’ll end up with at least five.”

Five would be fine with her, she thought, a single tear streaming down her face. “I guess I’ll be getting started in six weeks.”

“Now that’s what I wanted to hear.” Braylon reached for his daughter, then held her against his muscular chest.

As Sandella looked on in merriment, she knew she had so much to be thankful for. For starters, the man standing beside her bed holding her daughter loved her. On top of that, this same man had gone to dangerous lengths to find her mother’s killer.  And also because of him, her business SugarKanes was profiting millions, had its own building in Hilton Head Island, and had gone national.

How she’d ever gotten this lucky was beyond her. The only thing she knew for sure was: she’d done herself some good by—
Marrying the Marine
.
