“I can’t
pretend
to have them, no.” He ground the words out through gritted teeth, and her eyes grew wide. “And right now, I sure as fuck wish I didn’t have them.”

He ignored her sharp intake of breath and pushed away from the table with such force, his chair clattered to the tiled flooring with a loud crash. Beth jumped, and the last thing he saw was the frightened expression on her face before he slammed the front door shut on his way out with enough force to rattle the frame.

Chapter Four

Beth woke up with a start in the middle of the night and winced at the brass band who seemed to have taken up residence in her head. She had the mother of all hangovers. When Elliot had taken off like that, she hadn’t known what to do. Going after him was out of the question, and she’d briefly considered ringing Brian and demanding answers, but had thought better of it. He wouldn’t look too kindly on her losing his Man-Droid, she was sure of it.

So she had done the only other thing this bizarre situation had called for, and she had drunk the rest of the wine. Completely sozzled, she had finally picked up the phone and called Jerry.

A rather breathless Jerry had answered on the fifth try.

“This had better be good, girl. I’m somewhat busy here, as you should be. Why aren’t you feeling up your new man friend?”

A throaty woman’s laugh could be heard in the background, and Beth rolled her eyes.

“He’s not my man friend, as you well know, and besides, he’s run out on me.”

“He’s done
what
?”

Beth winced, recalling the shriek down the phone that had caused her to hold the receiver away from her ear.

“Why the fuck would he do that? That’s Brian’s pride and joy. You’ve better not broken him, girl. He’d never forgive me for persuading him to let you borrow Elliot.”

“No, I haven’t broken him, don’t be ridiculous, but I seem to have hurt his feelings, and that’s impossible, so…err…he’s probably malfunctioning or sommat.”

There had been an ominous pause at the other end.

“Yes, well, about that. Now, don’t freak, but Elliot, he’s, well, he’s not like the others. He’s got an emotion chip, you see.”

“He’s got a
what
?”

“An emotion chip. Like I said, he’s Brian’s original baby, and I know he’s been perfecting this emotions thing for a while, and I know what you’re like. You can’t just go and fuck like the rest of us. You’ve always got to get attached, so Elliot was the perfect choice for you. Unlike the usual assholes you pick, he will never hurt you. Beth, say something? Are you still there? Beth?”

Beth had, in fact, hung up on her and sought oblivion in the bottom of the wine bottle until she’d passed out.

Which had seemed a great plan at the time, but not so much now at—she squinted at her alarm clock—three a.m. And what was more, there was someone in her flat. Her heart beat in tune to the drums in her head, and she stuffed her fist in her mouth to stop herself from screeching. The sound of running water and the clink of crockery gave her pause for thought. Was her burglar doing the washing up?

Something crashed and broke, and there was a muffled curse, delivered by a very familiar deep voice. Elliot. Of course it was Elliot. Who else would get past her extra secure locks without a key but her very own thinking and feeling Man-Droid.

Shit.

She
had
hurt his feelings. Beth scrambled out of bed, and ignoring the way the floor seemed to move toward her, she put one step in front of the other until she reached her little kitchen unit.

A scowling and very wet Elliot was indeed sorting the leftover debris from their dinner. He must have been caught in the rain she saw pelting her kitchen window, because his hair stuck to his forehead and his shirt clung to his skin, accentuating the play of muscles in his shoulders and back every time he moved. Beth swallowed hard when he swung round and quietly regarded her. In the blink of an eye, he approached her with a glass of water and two painkillers, and she wordlessly accepted the proffered lifeline.

The cool water lubricated her sandpaper throat enough for her to utter the apology she knew she owed him.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean what I said.”

“Yes you did.” He threw her a glance and continued tidying.

“Okay, maybe I did, but I never would have said those things had I known I would hurt your feelings. I truly am sorry for that. I sounded like a cold-hearted bitch. It’s just…”

She forgot what she was going to say when he shrugged out of his shirt in front of her. With his shirt off there was no barrier to his impressive physique, and Beth sat down with a thump. He was perfection, from the lightly tanned skin to the broad shoulders, pectorals to die for, dusted with a smattering of black hair that led down toward ultra-defined abs Adonis himself would have been envious of. She followed that trail of hair down to his belt buckle and the erection he was once again sporting and unsuccessfully trying to hide with his abandoned shirt.

When she finally managed to tear her gaze away from the bulge in his jeans, he looked almost embarrassed.

“Don’t read anything into that. I seem to be incapable of controlling my cock when you’re around. Trust me, that never happened before.”

“It hasn’t?”

“No, it hasn’t. It only happens around you, and I have no fucking clue what to do about it.”

Beth couldn’t help it. She giggled.

“This isn’t funny.” He scowled at her some more, but eventually his lips, too, twitched and formed a lopsided smile. Lord he looked way too edible when he did that.

“It is, you know. This whole situation is too absurd to not be funny.”

“Hmm, you might have a point there. Had I known what Brian’s adjustments would do, I’d never have agreed to them.”

“Adjustments? What adjustments? And what do you mean agreed to them? Surely, he is your…?” She stopped talking as another thought dawned on her. One she didn’t like at all. “
What
is he to you exactly? Jerry said you were Brian’s favorite…err, what exactly?”

She did her best to try and glare at him, but that damn smile of his just grew deeper. He threw his sodden shirt on the table and stepped right between her legs. Perched on the edge of the chair as she was, she had to look a long way up to see his expression, when all she really wanted to do was lick away those enticing drops of moisture still clinging to his abs.

Before she could give in to temptation he buried his hands in her hair and gave a gentle tug. She barely suppressed her moan of pleasure. He gave her no choice but to look up at her and excitement fizzed through her veins at the determined expression on his face.

“Brian is the closest thing to a father I will ever have. He has made and remade me countless times. I’ve been with him every step of the way. It has been his dream for years to create a sentient, feeling Man-Droid, but Brian is no fool. The world at large is not ready for that, so I’m the only one who actually has an emotion chip.”

He gentled his hold on her hair and ran his index finger along her jaw. She closed her eyes against the myriad of sensations that gently abrasive movement aroused. This was ridiculous. Everything about him turned her on, yet he didn’t act on that attraction. It was starting to drive her insane.

“So, where do we go from here?” She grimaced at the breathy quality of her voice. Elliot went down on his haunches until he was eye level with her, and his sinful grin proved her undoing.

“I believe you were going to tell me why that Samantha annoys you so much, before we had our first row.” He smirked and rocked back a bit, giving her much-needed breathing space. “Come to think of it, I’ve never rowed with a human in my existence. What a novel experience. I believe the correct human response now, would be makeup sex.”

He winked at her and Beth suppressed a giggle, even as her pussy screamed,
God, yes!

She ignored her greedy cunt, however, and latched onto the lifeline he had offered.

“Yes, well, I guess you’re right—” He pounced on her in an instant, his firm mouth crashing on hers and cutting her off mid-sentence. When she tried to push him away, he simply lifted her off the floor, chair and all. Her surprised gasp gave him access, and he wasted no time, slipping his tongue past her lips. Their tongues met in an erotic dance, and he groaned when she couldn’t help but kiss him back.

He tasted of coffee and rain, mixed in with something so primal and intoxicating her body responded instantly to his superior strength. Why was she fighting this anyway? She was so horny her cunt would combust if it didn’t see some action soon, and here was her very own sex-robot willing and able to fuck her senseless. No regrets, no fears—that was what Jerry had said. Beth told the rational side of her brain to fuck off and gave herself up to sensation.

* * * *

Elliot sensed the minute Beth stopped fighting her body’s needs. She melted against him. Her nipples pushed against his chest, and she ran her hands over his shoulders into his hair and tugged hard, whilst wrapping her legs around his waist. The sweet musk of her arousal hit his nostrils and his dick lengthened further, eager to impale itself in all that wanton wetness Elliot sensed. He moved his hands to her ass, and the chair clattered to the floor with a loud crash.

Beth pulled back, gasping for breath, her pupils wide with desire and her delicate skin flushed pink, and she flexed her thighs in a silent plea he was only too happy to help her with.

He turned them around and deposited her on the breakfast bar.

“Lie back there and let me feast on you. I never did eat earlier.” He pushed her shoulders down, and she went willingly. Her breath hitched when he yanked her jogging bottoms off her, and he groaned at the evidence of her arousal in front of his eyes. Her little red thong barely covered her folds, and it was soaked through with her juices. He dropped a kiss on the inside of her thigh and used his hands to spread her wider, whilst he inhaled against her sodden core.

“Do you want me here, Beth?” he asked, chuckling at the way she thrust her hips up. A renewed gush of her juices greeted his questing fingers, as he pushed her thong away better to see the little nub of pleasure he couldn’t wait to suckle. He settled his thumb on her slightly swollen clit and licked his way up to her belly button.

“Yes…oh God…yes. Don’t stop, please…” Her voice was barely above a needy whisper, and Elliot took a moment to will his cock to comply. Like a heat-seeking missile, it was straining to break out of the confines of his jeans and bury itself deep in her velvet heat. Never before had Elliot felt such an overwhelming need to possess a woman, to claim her and fuck her so hard and deep she would never want to let him go.

He pushed the disturbing thought away. This wasn’t about his needs. They never factored into this. Elliot hadn’t known he had needs of his own. He was only ever aware of the need to pleasure his partner, and right now, Beth needed to come. He could analyze the hell out of this later—much, much later.

“Elliot?” Beth’s hesitant voice warned him that he was losing her, and he nipped the inside of her thigh. Her thigh muscles relaxed, and she drew in a sharp breath. He smiled against her soft skin and licked a path toward her sodden core. She squirmed when he blew against her clit, and lifted her hips toward him in a silent plea. Her scent called him, and he inhaled against her still-covered mound. Taking the wet material between his teeth, he pulled her thong down and out of the way. She moaned when he straightened up briefly to enable him to pull the scrap of material down her long legs. She helped him by lifting her hips out the way, and her eyes went wide when he held the thong up to his nose and inhaled.

“Give me your hands, Beth,” he said. He pitched his voice as low as he could, and she offered him her wrists without a moment’s hesitation. Only the rapid rise and fall of her ample breasts gave her apprehension away. He tied her wrists together with the thong and pushed her arms above her head, so that she lay before him like a smorgasbord for him to feast on.

“Keep your arms like that and do not lower them.” One hand on her abdomen, he waited for her reaction, and when she nodded once, he smiled.

“Good girl.”

Heat rose in her cheeks, and she looked as though she was going to argue with him, but then thought better of it when he raised his eyebrow and simply stared at her. He hid his smile at the contradiction in terms that was his Beth. Fiercely independent, she nonetheless wanted to be dominated, but only on her terms. The losers she had called her boyfriends in the past hadn’t even managed to give her that. He was here to prove to her that freedom lay in true submission—not the kind micromanaged by her—the kind freely given that gave him control over her body.

“I intend to make you fly, sweet Beth. But it’s up to you. Do as you’re told, and you will. Try to push me and I will leave you hanging. That sweet pussy is mine to do with as I see fit. Are we clear?”

Every muscle in his body tensed waiting for her answer, but it was the ache in his chest that was the hardest to deal with, as his newly formed synapses forced him to act on his feelings. Her answer mattered far more than it ought to. This wasn’t just another program he ran through. It meant too much to him. He
needed
her submission, to hear her say the words. Words that had never meant anything to him before.
