A very special thank you to Tammy Turk, Mary Stancavage,
Tantris Hernandez, and Caitlin Bergendahl. Some of these women live close, one
of lives far away, but over the years they have all been so unbelievably
amazing in their support of me and my goofy dreams. Thank you. I’m so sorry
you had to watch me in so many terrible shows.
Many thanks to my beta readers Caitlin Bergendahl, Adam
Jackman, and Mia Winn for slogging through this mess. Oh boy, was it a mess…
I owe you. A lot. And you all are BRILLIANT.
A special thanks to Mia & Ryan Winn and Erin Glaser for
hosting me at more Comicons than I have any right to be at and allowing me to
glom onto their awesomeness. Help me thank them, gentle readers, by checking
out Sock Zombie, Giddy Girlie, and buying every single comic Ryan Winn inks.
EVERY SINGLE ONE! Gloms away!
This book was written as part of National Novel Writing
Month. This year, I participated in a very special charity event for NaNoWriMo
called The Night of Writing Dangerously. Two hundred and fifty authors
descended upon the Julia Morgan Ballroom in downtown San Francisco dressed in
our 1940s best. Armed only with our laptops (and typewriters. Some took the
noir theme very seriously), we engaged in an evening of literary abandon,
typing to our heart’s content for six hours. I wrote the best parts of this
book. The write-a-thon benefited the Young Writers Program, which funds free
creative writing programs in hundreds of schools and communities around the
world.
In order to get there, though, I needed some help. And
that’s where these fabulous folks came in. In alphabetical order, thank you to
Caitlin Bergendahl, Bridget Franckowiak, Robin McWilliams & Madonna
Cacciatore, Cassie Oates, Joe Purcell, Richard Van Slyke, Mary Stancavage, Ken
Steadman, Ray Stilwell, Tammy Turk, and Christine & Tyler Wilhelm. This
book, literally, would not have happened without you and there’s a bunch of
kids in needy schools who are thanking you, too.
Most of all, thank you always to my family, the best fan
club a girl could ever want or need.
