Approaching the subject with honesty, she said, “I just hope you don’t regret me coming here.”

Clayton rubbed her shoulders and replied, “No matter what, Lydi, I’ll always look upon you coming here as a good thing.”

“I hope you’re right, Clayton. Thank you.”

When he’d kissed her earlier, the moment had been electric and intense. The embrace they shared now was for comfort, and she was reassured by his words.

Chapter Ten

Clayton did his best to tame the erection that was bulging at her proximity. She probably had no idea how much she affected him.

She was just as beautiful as he remembered her, maybe more so now that she was away from the draining stress of her job at the café. He’d questioned Chance’s mental capacity, when he’d told Clayton of his interest in the little beauty who worked at the little café in the middle of nowhere, until the day he’d met her himself. He could understand Chance’s attraction to her. She was beautiful, but more importantly she was genuine and kind. In short, she was nothing like the last woman he’d dated and he needed to remember it.

Seeing her clasped tightly in Chance’s arms earlier in the kitchen, had thrown him for a loop but not in a bad way. He’d actually wanted to join them but had held back in case she wasn’t ready for that yet. She didn’t need to earn his trust. He needed to earn hers.

Right now he had to keep his libido under control because she’d asked for time and a chance to get to know him better. He was determined to not rush her.

Reaching for a safe subject, he said, “Your help should get here at nine o’clock Wednesday morning.”

“Good. Today is Monday, so that will give me time to make a list of duties and get organized.”

“What time are you going to get started?”

“I’m an early riser. Probably about five.”

“Good. We can have a cup of coffee with you.”

She beamed at him and replied, “You make the coffee and I’ll make breakfast.” She sighed, and her breath tickled against his chest. His cock tingled and swelled at her soft, sexy sound.

He smooched her forehead and forced himself to step away. He knew if he kissed her again it would be impossible to leave her in there alone. The sweet, little thing had been here less than a day and already he was falling under her spell.

“I’ll leave you to it, Lydi. We’ll be downstairs if you need us. Pleasant dreams.”

Lydia’s eyebrows arched slightly at his retreat, but he needed to give her some space before her innocent allure changed his mind.

“Okay. Later,” she replied before turning on the tub faucet. Under the circumstances, it was the least he could do to give her the time she’d asked for. If she noticed the way his cock was hardening in reaction to her, she’d think he was a horndog.

He crossed paths with Chance as his brother was about to enter his bedroom and said, “Chance, remember you said we needed to talk if it looked like things might work out between me and Lydia? You got a few minutes?”

Chance grinned at him and flipped on his light switch. “Sure, come on in.”

Lydia wondered if she was reading Clayton’s responses to her right. She was a little confused. He’d kissed her earlier but now seemed almost in a hurry to get out of the bathroom. She retrieved a nightgown from her dresser and brought the novel Chance and Clayton had given her into the bathroom with her, thinking it might help her relax. She was ready to find out what happened next to the rancher’s lady as she closed the bathroom door and undressed.

Lavender scented the air as she poured a capful of bubble bath under the running water. She’d never used it while in Fort Stockton because her tub only held about a teaspoon of bathwater and she thought that would be a waste.

She gazed critically at her nude body which was reflected from several different angles in the bathroom mirrors. Due to overwork and a shoestring budget for groceries, she’d lost weight while in Fort Stockton but felt fairly satisfied with her body. Losing weight had probably been a good thing because the women in her family tended toward generous hips and legs.

She cupped her plentiful breasts in her hands and felt that they helped to balance out her curvy ass and thighs. The nipple she’d slammed in the drawer was still a little inflamed, but the ice pack Chance had made for her must’ve helped because it wasn’t actually bruised. She’d hardly been aware of it during the day, except for when her nipples had hardened.

Her nipples peaked now, when she stroked them with her thumbs, and she recalled how they’d tightened when Clayton had lifted her against him when he helped her from the truck. The physical attraction was there, at least for her. She just needed to find out what was going on with him.

She slipped into the tub carefully, sighing luxuriously as the hot water enveloped her all the way up to her chin. Nothing had ever felt so divinely decadent. Allowing the hot water to soak the tension from her, she once again got caught up in the ménage romance novel. The love scenes were sizzling hot, and she soon found that she was very aroused.

Lydia pressed the button on the side of the tub and the whirlpool jets came to life. Giggling in delight, she got comfortable against the sloped end of the tub and closed her eyes for a minute.

Thoughts of Chance and the way they’d awakened that morning clasped in each other’s arms came to mind. She also recalled the explosive orgasm she’d had the night before in the shower while fantasizing about being with him and his handsome brother.

Last night was certainly not the first time she’d ever fantasized about them, but her erotic thoughts now seemed more powerful because they’d more or less declared themselves to her. Chance more so than Clayton, but given time she knew she’d feel as warmly toward Clayton as his brother. Her bodily responses didn’t lie.

Beneath the bubbles, her hands slithered over her naked body to her pussy. Her fingertips drifted and tickled in the dark curls on her mound for a minute or two, teasing her clit with gentle outer pressure on her lips. Shifting her hips, she moaned, trying to be quiet, as she slid a finger between her inner lips to the slippery heat inside. She remembered that Clayton had said they would be downstairs if she needed them. Knowing she was alone, she repositioned again and felt the strong thrust of the whirlpool jet against her hip bone.

She lifted an ankle and hooked it around the side of the tub, so the powerful jet shot water straight against her engorged clit. It was very strong and she drew back from it. As she grew accustomed to the force she moved a little closer. Her pussy tightened under the stimulation.

“Oh.”

She whimpered softly and imagined Chance and Clayton in the tub with her. Would they like to watch her as she did this? Her cheeks flushed with heat as she imagined them watching her or, better yet, helping her.

Maybe they’d each hold a leg so she’d feel captured, and Chance would stroke her clit while Clayton fingered her cunt. The thought of feeling both their hands on her pussy at once was enough to send her body into lustful overdrive.

Moving closer to the jet, she imagined them positioning her so that the jet pulsed on her clit until she came over and over again. The pressure of the water vibrating over her clit sent her higher and higher as she inched a little closer to the jet.

She imagined Chance pulling her into his lap so she straddled his hips and thrusting his big cock into her cunt.

“Oh, Chance!”

She slid two fingers into her pussy and stroked her G-spot. Her pussy grew more slippery around her fingers as her arousal skyrocketed. She felt it everywhere, even in her hair follicles. Concentrating on that one spot inside her, she arched her back and used a fingertip to pull up the slight fleshy hood that her clit hid behind, imagining as she did that it was really Clayton fingering her as Chance fucked her. The jet pounded deliciously against her exposed clit and sent her over the brink.

“Clayton!” His name flew from her lips with the same abandon as his brother’s had.

Lydia cried out in ecstasy and had to bite her lip to keep from screaming as her pussy flooded with silky heat and she came undone.

Her cunt contracted again and again with each wave of her climax until she was limp and weak with pleasure and release. Biting her lip, Lydia shuddered and panted while she prayed they hadn’t heard her all the way downstairs as she’d pleasured herself.

Chance sat back uncomfortably against the pillows at his headboard and looked over at his brother sitting in the upholstered rocker by the bed. Another sexy whimper echoed through the wall behind him, and Clayton groaned quietly. The bathtub was on the other side of the wall from his headboard, and the wall was evidently not that soundproof.

They’d still attempted to have a rational conversation after the second whimper of pleasure they’d heard coming from her bathroom, thinking perhaps she was just
really
enjoying her long, hot soak. Now there was no question what was happening on the other side of that wall.

As it was, they’d already been having a sexually charged conversation concerning Lydia and how they would take care of her if the opportunity presented itself. It would pay off for them to be on the same page in advance so there would be no need for protracted conversations about what they should do in the heat of the moment.

Clayton liked to talk things out, but Chance had been certain when their opportunity came to be with her together that Clayton would put her needs first.

Luckily, they’d been about finished when they’d heard the first whimper. Clayton had suggested checking on her to make sure she was all right, but she’d moaned softly a few seconds later, removing all doubt about whether she was okay or not.

Chance’s cock was quickly approaching critical mass and about to explode, while he pictured her delicate fingers stroking what was undoubtedly the prettiest pussy imaginable.

Through the wall, her sensual cry was clearly heard. “Chance!”

“Oh, holy fuck,” he groaned. Lydia was fantasizing about
him
while pleasuring herself. He forced himself to stay on the bed and not immediately answer her call in person.

Her echoing crying reverberated again, “Clayton!” followed by the erotic sounds of feminine ecstasy.

Rising stiffly from the rocker, Clayton murmured, “Good night.”

Clayton didn’t bother exiting through the bedroom door. He headed straight for the showers in their large adjoining bathroom. Chance had never beat off in the presence of his brother before but figured this was as good a time as any to let the walls come tumbling down. If he had his way, soon they’d both be naked with Lydia, fucking and coming with wild abandon, so there was no point in being shy about it now.

Chapter Eleven

The next afternoon, Clayton smiled as Lydia trotted into the kitchen with her purse on her shoulder and her notebook and pen in hand. She was dressed in jeans and a snug, little white T-shirt with the slogan, “Life is Better in Bliss, CO” printed on it. The “bliss” for him was the way the top hugged her lush, full breasts. Her long, dark hair was pulled up into a ponytail, and she was wearing the turquoise jewelry Chance had given her.

“Okay, I’m all ready,” she said as she slipped glittery sandals on her delicate little feet. Clayton found that he was fascinated by her small feet and graceful arches. She’d painted her toenails hot pink, and he wondered how she’d react if he sucked on them.
It’s possible I have a foot fetish.
She looked especially pretty in her dainty shoes as she walked up to him with a smile on her face and purpose in her eyes. “This is going to take at least an hour, cowboy. You sure you’ve got time for running errands with me?”

“It’s no problem, Lydi. I can show you around Divine while we’re there.” He led the way out to the garage and hit the button to open the big door. Light filled the garage as the door began to rise and he went around to the passenger door of his red Dodge Ram 1500.

“You and Chance have such nice manners,” she murmured as he held the door and helped her in. His only regret was that lifting her into his truck wasn’t necessary like it was with Chance’s fat-ass dually.

He climbed in on his side, backed out, and headed down the drive. The day was blazing hot, and he cranked the air conditioner up and made sure it was pointing at her. She smiled at him and then looked down at her list, which appeared to be a couple of pages long.

Driving through Divine, he pointed out Stigall’s Department Store and Cheaver’s Western Store just down the block. He gestured to The Dancing Pony and said, “We’ll have to take you there sometime soon. I think you’d love getting to know all the girls. If you meet Maya, I’ll bet she’ll introduce you to them. Did Chance tell you about Discretion?”

“Discretion? No, not yet.”

Clayton grinned and said, “I’ll bet you’re going to love that place. It’s a ladies’ adult boutique about twenty or thirty minutes away from here. That’s where Chance shops for you. I’ll bet you’d enjoy visiting there, too.” He hoped she spoke with her brothers before she made that particular stop, since their fiancée, Summer Heston, co-owned the shop with her sister.

Lydia looked animatedly out the windows as he drove through Divine. She pointed out the window and said, “Those crape myrtles are just gorgeous. I’m not used to seeing so much colorful plant life.” The crape myrtles lining the main street were in bloom in front of the various storefronts and the courthouse in shades of pink, red, and white. Her declaration gave him something to think about as he pulled into the parking lot of Batson’s Grocery.

Inside the store, he grabbed a cart and chuckled when she pulled out a second cart and said, “We’re going to need two of these, cowboy. Your larder was sadly lacking.”

Clayton chuckled and tried to hide his goofy enjoyment of the nickname she’d given him. It gave him a warm feeling inside that they’d settled into that little familiarity of nicknames and endearments so easily. She pointed out what she needed as they scoured each aisle of the store.

In the pasta section she pointed out a large box on a top shelf. He “accidentally” brushed his forearm against her breast as he turned to place it in the cart and heard her soft inhalation.

“Whoops. Sorry, Lydi,” he said, feeling not the slightest bit sorry.

On the canned goods aisle, she consulted her list and tried to act nonchalant but the blush in her cheeks was unmistakable. “I’m looking for canned, sliced mushrooms, but I don’t see them,” she said, scanning the shelves in front of her.

Clayton grinned at his amazingly good fortune as he placed his hands on her hips and squeezed before reaching for a can of mushrooms directly behind her. “I guess that’s why you have me to help you, Lydi.”

“Yeah, cowboy. You’re just
all
kinds of helpful,” Lydia quipped, brushing back a lock of hair that had come loose from her ponytail.

He turned a corner and nearly bumped into her with his cart when she stopped suddenly. She looked back at him with big eyes and then peered down the aisle again.

Clayton saw who was beyond her and grinned.

Grace Warner stood in the aisle looking at the label on a jar of pickles. Adam Davis stood behind her with both arms around her middle, stroking her very rounded abdomen as he kissed the top of her pretty blonde head. Judging by the blissful smile on her face she was definitely enjoying his attention because the label could not have been that enjoyable. Ethan Grant walked up and put a couple of boxes in their cart as he caught sight of Clayton and Lydia. Ethan grinned and raised his chin in acknowledgment.

Clayton didn’t yell but spoke loud enough so the threesome just down the aisle would hear. “Hey, no hanky-panky in the grocery store. You’re gonna start a dang riot in here.” Grace looked up and chuckled when she saw him.

He pushed his cart over to the side and then drew Lydia by the hand along with him to introduce her. “Lydi, these are friends of ours I want you to meet. Hey, Ethan,” he said as the man came around to greet them.

“Clayton, how are things out at the ranch?”

He shook hands with Ethan and then said, “Good. Hey there, Grace, Adam.” Lydia stood right behind him acting a little hesitant, and he slid his hand around her waist to draw her forward.

“Clayton, how are you doing?” Grace said as she hugged his neck. “And who do we have here?” Grace noted his arm around her waist, and he didn’t miss the avid curiosity in her gaze. He’d been looking forward to introducing Lydi to one of the girls, hoping it might instill a little confidence in her to see that other women in the town handled their multiple men with little trouble.

Turning to the dark-haired beauty at his side, Clayton said, “Lydia, I’d like you to meet some good friends of ours. This is Grace Warner, Ethan Grant, and Adam Davis.”

They exchanged greetings and Grace said, “Jack will be sorry he didn’t get to meet you, too. He’s out at a construction site this afternoon.”

Lydia’s eyebrows rose slightly, and she echoed, “Jack?”

Grace grinned and quietly said, “My
other
husband. So
you’re
Lydia.”

Grace looked like she wanted to pull Lydia aside and have a nice, long gab session but reined in her curiosity. Clayton watched as Lydia struggled with mild surprise and then blushed prettily as Grace continued, “I’ve heard a little about you from Chance and Clayton here. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”

“It’s nice to meet you, too,” Lydia replied, looking like she wanted to have that talk, too.

Grace said, “Have we met before? Something about you seems very familiar to me.”

Not wanting to chance the news getting back to Ace if Grace pinpointed the familial resemblance between her and her older brother, Clayton changed the subject to a little safer topic. “Lydia is the newest addition out at the Rockin’ C.”

Grace beamed with happiness at him, and Clayton couldn’t help but grin like an idiot. “That is fantastic news.”

They talked for another minute, promising to get the whole group together one Saturday night at The Dancing Pony, then said their good-byes.

When they turned up the next aisle, Lydia whispered, “She has three husbands?
Three
? Really?”

Clayton studied Lydia as he tucked a strand of her silken, brown hair behind her ear. “Yes, three husbands.”

“My gosh, I can’t imagine the amount of laundry she has to do.”

“I believe she has someone who keeps up with their house and takes care of that. She’s a pretty active businesswoman in her own right. I think the three of them work pretty hard at keeping up with
her
.”

“Amazing.”

Seeing how content Ethan, Adam, and Jack were with Grace called into question any reason why he hadn’t gone along with Chance from the very beginning. The fact that Lydia had such a sweet disposition and was nothing like his last girlfriend should have been a good indicator, too. Clayton doubted that Lydia played games with people’s hearts.

They rounded the corner to the bulk goods aisle, and she put him to work. “I need two of those five-pound bags of brown rice.”

He loaded them and grimaced. “Brown rice?”

Pointedly, she said, “Yes, cowboy. It’s healthier for you, and wait until you see what I can make with it. Not one of you will complain.”

“Yes, ma’am! I’m sure I’ll happily eat
whatever
you serve me,” he murmured suggestively as he placed the bags in the cart and then brushed the wavy lock of hair back from her cheek again. He snuck a small peck on her cheek.

Clayton almost chuckled when she opened her mouth to say something, gaped at him, and then slammed her mouth closed and blushed. He noticed she didn’t complain about his mild innuendo.

They finished the grocery shopping with two full carts, just as she’d predicted. He enjoyed shopping with her, in the sense that it gave him time alone with her but also because he enjoyed helping her and watching her respond to him.

At home, he insisted she let him carry all the groceries in, and then he helped her put them away.

“You don’t need to get back to work on the ranch?” she asked as he helped her stack canned vegetables in the pantry. The scent of chili powder and cayenne hung in the close air of the pantry, reminding him of his mother’s and grandmother’s cooking.

“No. I have more paperwork to do, but it can wait. I’d rather spend time with you,” he murmured, close enough to her to catch the scent of her shampoo.

She squatted down to the bags they still needed to unload and said, “I appreciate the help, Clayton.”

“Lydi, can I ask you something?” When she smiled up at him and nodded he continued. “Does the fact that I’m Chance’s identical twin make getting used to me difficult?”

Lydia shook her head confidently. “No. And I think if you were standing side by side I could tell you apart.”

That was news to him. “How?” He’d heard from every other woman in their love lives over the years that they were identical in every way, which had occasionally equated interchangeable. He hadn’t liked that very much.

Lydia tipped his jaw at an angle and stroked a spot on his cheekbone with a soft fingertip. “Did you have chicken pox when you were little?”

Clayton nodded and said, “Bad. Chance had them, too, but they were much worse on me. I can still remember how much it itched and how awful I felt.”

“I could still tell you apart even without that chicken pox scar.” Her voice was low, and she held him mesmerized as she gazed up into his eyes. Lydia’s eyes were an unusual pale color. Standing this close to her, he could make out shades of pale green and blue.

Everyone
says we're identical, even at this age.”

Lydia slowly, but confidently shook her head. “No. It’s in the way you hold your mouth. You hold back more than your brother does and you don’t trust as easily.”

His heart dropped in his chest, and he felt ashamed that she could see that much so clearly. If his face didn’t give it away, his attitude toward her in the last several weeks should. He hadn’t trusted his brother or her, and even now he was still holding back from her. She hadn’t minded his familiarity in the grocery store. Stuck in the pantry with her like this, he should’ve been taking the opportunity for a little friendly “getting to know you” groping and kissing.

He already knew what she sounded like when she whispered his name as she came, which was a pretty good indicator that she wanted him. All those things considered, he should’ve made more progress.

“I’m sorry, Lydi.”

Lydia smiled at him and brushed her fingertips over his lower lip. “It’s not only me that needs time, Clayton. You do, too. There’s nothing wrong with waiting. Is this all the canned goods?”

“Yes, this is all of them. What else can I do to help?”

“I need potatoes peeled, vegetables washed, and the table set for thirteen people. Can you handle that for me?”

“Sure.”

Clayton washed the vegetables and laid them out for her so she could get started and then set to peeling the potatoes. Once he was done he placed them in the huge pot of water that she had boiling on the stove.

She fiddled with the radio installed in the wall under one of the kitchen cabinets, and music began playing in the room.

Clayton watched with a little awe as she set to work in her kitchen. She prepared an aromatic marinade and placed skirt steaks for
fajitas
in it, then began preparing a hearty-looking vegetable side dish. She hummed along with Sugarland’s “Stuck on You” as she checked her bread dough resting in a large bowl on the back of the stove. He enjoyed watching as she sang along and danced to the beat, shaking her hips to the music. She was so “into” her tasks, Clayton wasn’t sure she was even aware of being observed. Once everything was rising, soaking, drying, or boiling, she went into the dining room to get the dishes they would need for supper.

“Clayton?” She called to him in the kitchen.
