Jayne stooped to greet
the dogs. Laughing, she touched Shredder's tie. "Well, someone dressed up
for the occasion."

Zander fought to keep his
voice casual, "Looks like there's a new tag hanging off of Patch's
collar."

He took hold of Shredder
while she stilled Patch's wiggling and peered at the tag he'd had Luke add that
morning. Her eyes widened. "Zander."

He knelt beside her,
grasped her hand and then repeated the words stamped on the metal heart.
"Will you marry me?"

Mouth open, she gaped at
him and her hand tightened around his.

He reached his other hand
into his pocket and pulled out the ring he'd purchased the day before.

"Oh my God."
Tears sparkled in her eyes like sunlight reflecting off the ocean.

"I love you. Because
of you, I found what was missing in my life."

"I love you too. You
gave me a family." She raised a shaky hand to cup his cheek.

He slipped the diamond on
her finger. "You're the only one I want to start one with."

Nodding and crying, she
pulled him closer and lifted her lips to his. He fisted his hand in her hair,
holding her to him, holding onto his forever.

Applause and cheers spilled
out from the open patio doors. Gasping, Jayne broke the kiss and looked up. His
band mates, Irisa and Dom, his parents, some of the road crew, Chad, Kate, and
Dalton joined them in the yard.

Zander grinned and pulled
Jayne to her feet. Surrounded by love and celebration, wrapped around the woman
he loved, his heart finally had everything it had been yearning for.

And with Jayne along for
the ride, he'd have it all for a lifetime.
