“Dave! Emma!”

“Emma! Dave!”

“Wake up, baby doll. We’re about to have company.”

He recognized the voices of Gage and Seth, and he had a feeling Gage might not be as understanding as he had hoped.

Emma got to her feet and he shook out his shirt and pulled it over his head. She smoothed down her dress, but it was a wasted effort. Nothing except a warm shower and clean clothes could make them look like they hadn’t been having sex all night.

“Your hair is sticking up all over the place. Is mine?” she asked.

“You look like you just got fucked all night long by your loving mate.”

“So wild, hot sex hair?”

“Yep. You ready?”

“Yes. Let’s go.”

They emerged from the cave holding hands, at the same time Seth and Gage walked up the hill to inspect the dwelling.

“What the hell is going on?” Gage roared, but he didn’t let them answer. Instead he continued to yell and point an accusing finger at each of them. “First
you
go missing for a day and a half, and then
you
don’t show up to work. You two need to get your act together and either be a couple or break up for—”

Gage zoned in on his mate mark, and a smile lit up his face.

“Well, I’ll be damned,” he laughed. “Congratulations.”

Gage hugged Emma, and Seth pulled him into a hug, offering congratulatory words. They switched places so Seth could hug Emma, and Gage shook his hand.

“I already considered you a member of my clan, but it’s nice to make it official. Welcome to the family,” the man said, and pulled him into a hug.

Suddenly, Aaron appeared on the top of the hill behind them.

“Gage, it’s Kate,” he said. “She’s in labor.”

Epilogue

Emma looked around the tiny waiting room of the clinic and studied her clan mates.

At six feet, seven inches tall, her cousin Seth had always been bigger than everyone. He’d always been like a huge teddy bear to her, but she’d seen others keep their distance when he walked into a room.

Even though Darcy stood nearly a foot shorter than him, she somehow made him seem more approachable. Maybe it was because his love for her was tangible, and everyone around could see it surrounding them.

She’d only had a few encounters with the twins, but if you saw Sam, their mate, alone with only one of them, you’d instinctively know something was missing.

The way they held their mate made her smile.

Cade’s arm rested around Sam’s shoulders, and Collin’s hand laced with hers and rested on her thigh. It was obvious only one twin would never make their mate completely happy.

Aaron and his mate, Sara, huddled together and talked in whispers.

She’d met Aaron through Gage, years ago, and she hadn’t been lying when she’d said she never thought she’d see him mated. He’d battled his inner demons for a long time, and it was nice to see he’d found someone who could love all of him.

Seeing his love for Sara proved miracles happened when you least expected.

Even though pregnancy rates were nearly one hundred percent for bears, Sara was the only one in the room expecting. She was a month along, and Aaron doted on her constantly.

The chatter died down as they waited for Gage to return with news, and Emma felt something stir inside of her. She carried not one, but two energies, proving that bears were prone to carrying twins.

The excitement of the morning must have covered up their presence.

“What are you all looking at?” Dave demanded.

Startled by his outburst, she looked up to see all of the men smiling at her, and all the women looking on with hopeful interest. They suspected, but they didn’t know. The only one in the dark was her mate.

Luckily, she’d mated a police officer and he was used to piecing together clues.

“Are you pregnant?” he whispered in her ear.

“Yes,” she whispered back.

“Twins?”

“Yes.”

Before he could say anything else, Gage burst into the waiting room carrying his sons. Their beautiful, perfect faces looked up at her, and she knew she’d made the right decision to stay in Bear Mountain.

As everyone took their turn to welcome the bundles of joy, she stood back and dried her eyes. Her two new cousins needed their aunt, and she needed her family and her clan, but most of all, she needed her mate.

Dave appeared next to her, took one look, and smothered her in a hug.

“I love you, baby doll,” he said, and kissed her forehead. “I’m so happy.”

“I love you, my mate,” she said, and tightened her arms around him.

For the first time in her life, she believed in everlasting love.

When you found the right man…he stayed.
