It dawned on her that he didn’t have any other clothes. Unless he had a bag waiting for him outside the cabin door, he’d entered with nothing but the clothes on his back.

They lay crumpled on the floor, torn to bits, along with her clothes. Damn shame he’d have to remain naked while with her.

She didn’t have a clue what to do with him. Well, other than fuck him silly. He told her he was there to take her home. Whatever the hell that was supposed to mean. Moira no longer had a pack, a den or anything to return to. And he knew that. He wasn’t one of her thieves, he’d known she would be arriving here, which was more than she had known. Until she had a clue what he was really up to, it might be best to keep an eye on him. And she sure as hell didn’t mind staring at him. Not that she’d get her job done if she continued to do so.

“I really am here to take you with me. Home will be wherever you wish.” His eyes didn’t open, not a muscle in his body moved.

And he’d just read her fucking mind.

Chapter Three

“What did you just say?” Her full, red lips puckered. Perfect for kissing or wrapping around his cock.

“It’s been a long time, Moira. Gather your things and we’ll leave.”

“I’m not going with you anywhere, wolf man. I’m not out here on vacation.”

Although she had a feeling he knew this already.

“The other agent on your mission had a disc like the one you’re looking at. It made it pretty easy to find you.”

“What did you do with him?” She chewed her lower lip, searching his face—then looking lower.

It was all he could fucking do to stay soft when she drooled over him like that.

What he wouldn’t do to have this conversation after they had sex.

He shrugged, pulling her gaze up from his cock and back to his face. “The other GWAR agent will find all of your criminals. I left their bodies together to make it easier for GWAR when they search the mountain. I’m sorry, sweet bitch, that he’ll get all the credit for this mission and not you. It has to be that way this time.”

“You killed them all?” She stared at him in disbelief and the bag on her lap fell to the floor. She looked down at it, holding clothes in her hands and then shook her head, trying to accept everything he’d just told her. “Then there’s no mission.”

“Nope. And it gives us an extra day or so to disappear before GWAR starts looking for you.”

“Disappear. You think I’m just going to prance off by your side?”

“I’ve given you five years. You’re twenty-three now, plenty old enough to take a mate.” And it had been beyond torture waiting. A promise was a promise though. He didn’t go back on his word. Bruno Tangaree had known that.

“How thoughtful of you,” she snapped, pursing her lips into a fine line while staring at him with dark orbs. “I think I know when and if I want a mate though.

Barging in here and hauling me off isn’t going to work, wolf man.”

“You would have disappointed me if you’d responded any differently.”

She ignored him and instead fumbled with the clothes in her hands. Her slender, delicate-looking fingers stroked the material, carefully stretching and pressing the clothing probably without realizing it. If she gave that same meticulous attention to a werewolf’s body, he’d have to have her soon. In spite of the throbbing headache he now had from the gash he’d foolishly gotten, it was impossible not to enjoy staring at her.

Skin the color of caramel with long, silky black hair that fell just past her curvy hips to her ass and firm, perky tits—she was one fucking hot bitch. Her arms were slender, as were her legs. Muscular yet thin, with a narrow, willowy look about her. Blood rushed from his head to his cock while he watched her dress.

The teenage girl he’d rescued five years ago had turned into one hell of a stunning woman. Her life had hardened her, made her appear older than she was. A strong smell of mistrust and hatred emanated so fully from her that he swore it was part of her natural scent. Yet she was turned on. Lust swam thickly in the air around them. And it wasn’t all from him. She liked what she saw. Hell, she fucking craved it. Remaining naked more than distracted her. His body excited the hell out of her.

Which was a damned good thing.

He moved deeper into her thoughts.

Careful. He had to be damned careful. Just as he’d been five years ago and every minute of every fucking day ever since.

She was her sire’s pride and joy. Bruno had been right that she’d figure out the gift on her own. The fact that she was still alive was proof enough. No werewolf would survive the life she’d endured. Unless they possessed the gift. The gift in full force. A gift she’d been born with. Just like her parents. Just like him.

Having lived that life, shielding the gift that coursed through his veins, he understood the battle she dealt with daily. Not being trusted. Being needed. No pack welcoming him. Fear. Aching for a den, a pack, yet fitting in nowhere. He’d done his research thoroughly with Moira. It had kept him busy while enduring the torturous years Bruno put him through waiting to claim her. Introductions at eighteen, allowing her to mature, then seduction. He sure as hell was going to enjoy this stage.

Before Bruno Tangaree’s pack had been destroyed, Dante had learned enough to survive. No one knew his connections back then. No one knew his connections today. It had to be that way. Survival instinct ran inside him as powerfully as the gift.

Now the gift would be taken to the next level. He had found her. Moira Tangaree.

His destined mate.

When she stood, every thought in his head washed away like a greedy tide had just attacked it. He looked up, focusing on her belly button when it creased as she stretched.

What he wouldn’t do to lick her right there.

She pulled a knit dress over her head, briefly covering her face. Her dark nipples were hard, eager peaks that made his mouth go dry. Allowing his cock to go hard as a rock would scare her. There was no doubt that she’d attack again. He knew fighting turned her on, made her blood boil with the need to gain respect—and a need to be overcome. Already he respected her or they’d be fucking right now. He would overcome her slowly, watch her submission blossom. The thought made his cock lengthen in spite of his order to himself to remain slack.

For one warped moment he wondered how many changes of clothing she had in that small bag. Couldn’t be that many. Force her to change again and he might render her naked—without more clothes to cover that hot little body of hers.

God, he couldn’t wait to touch that body, feel her come to life underneath him. He wanted to watch need relax her expression, see her dark eyes fog over with lust.

Her thoughts were shielded. Mingling with them briefly, he receded. The obvious was easy to pull from her. Loneliness—fear. She didn’t trust GWAR. Wondered how much truth lay in his words. Plotted possible means of escape. And she thought about his cock.

Dante suppressed a grin. His nudity definitely had an impact on her. She fought her interest toward him. But he smelled it, sensed it. Moira had been turned on by him the moment she’d detected him in the woods. She didn’t understand why she wanted him and he doubted she’d believe him if he explained it to her.

We’re destined to be together, little bitch. Two halves of a whole. No other werewolf will do
for you, so kindly spread your legs and let’s fuck.
Yeah. That would go over real well.

“How did you find me?” She pinned him with black eyes, like glowing onyx.

The thick, pungent odor of fear faded quickly. Something salty, like irritation, surrounded them. It mixed with a sweeter smell. If the little bitch couldn’t hide her sexual curiosity, then she wasn’t that scared of him. And she should be. She should be damned scared. He was about to change her life forever.

He kept his muscles relaxed. All of him. He focused on his heart, keeping the beat steady. Her closeness, her scent, her intense beauty—damn, he wanted her. For now, for her, he fought not to appear a threat.

“I never lost you.”

“That doesn’t answer the question.” She adjusted the dress to her body, the knitted material hugging her firm, small breasts, her flat tummy and the curve of her hips.

Sitting down in front of her laptop, she gently ran her fingers through her long black hair. There was no physical resemblance to her sire—something she should be grateful for. Bruno was many things, but for the life of Dante, he never understood why Renee, his mate, continually told him how sexy he was. Females were odd creatures though, and Bruno and Renee’s happiness and love for each other made Moira the strong bitch she was today.

“You have connections inside GWAR then?” she asked.

“Yes. But connections can be made anywhere when you have something others want.” He stood slowly, watching her gaze drop before she shot it back to his face.

There was not a damn thing he cared to do about his nudity at the moment. “I’m afraid you aren’t going to get answers to satisfy you completely. What matters is that I have you and GWAR no longer does.”

“And now what?” She focused on the screen of her laptop.

“A car will arrive for us soon.” He walked to his torn clothing, lifting his jeans and taking the cell phone from his belt. It didn’t surprise him that there was no signal.

“We’ll leave here and go to a place a bit more accommodating.”

“I’m not going anywhere with you, wolf man.” By no means was she a large woman, yet she held herself with dignity, with confidence. There was no hesitation in her expression. “Act like a mutt and that’s how you’ll get treated. Without answers, you can walk out that door and go back to wherever you came from.”

“I came from the same place you did,” he said quietly, ignoring her insults.

She managed to maintain her indifferent expression. Those dark eyes smoldered though. He saw in them the anger, frustration, curiosity and sexual craving that plagued her. There had never been doubt that she’d be fiery by nature, a bitch willing to fight with tooth and nail. He wouldn’t want her any other way.

“You need help getting back there?” She raised an eyebrow, challenging him.

Slowly she crossed one of her legs over the other, doing it on purpose to show him that she didn’t fear him. In spite of his human eyes impairing him in the dark cabin, her slender, muscular legs were hard to ignore. She relaxed, cocking an eyebrow, which showed off her alluring eyes. Every bit of her was a weapon. That sexy-ass body of hers would distract any werewolf. And at the moment, she was more than aware she was distracting him. She believed she had the upper hand. Perfect. She had no clue what strengths he possessed. In time she would learn to use her gift to determine the extent of danger a predator could be. The gift was raw inside her. No one existed in her life to draw out its strengths. Until now.

He grinned, pushing away from the wall. Her expression changed quickly and he enjoyed the look of hesitant prey, the way her dark eyes widened and her mouth opened slightly. He focused on those full lips, just slightly damp, and wondered how they would taste as he moved in on her slowly.

“What I need, I take. Pretty simple, actually.” He reached for a strand of her hair.

Immediately alert, she jumped from her seat, putting the chair between them.

“If you can handle simple, then handle this—hands off.”

The second she reached for the gift, focused deep inside her mind to call forth abilities she’d been born with, he prepared himself. Now wasn’t the time for her to discover his secret. Blocking what he possessed, creating a mental shield, he diverted her probe.

But there was no attempt to climb into his thoughts on her part. Instead of entering his mind, she used her gift externally. Interesting. The logical method of attack would be to use the gift to search the mind of the aggressor. Moira didn’t do that. She searched the cabin instead, wanting to throw something at him. Attack.

She searched for a diversion, anything to throw him off her scent. Preventing her from learning that he possessed the same powers took more concentration than he’d anticipated. Dante wondered if Moira realized how strong she was. He’d apply his own diversion the old-fashioned way.

“I can handle it simple. Or I can complicate things.” He grabbed the chair, tossing it to the corner of the room.

Moira jumped, her body tensing. Her hard nipples poking through her dress were more of a diversion than anything she could throw at him. Her dark eyes were perfectly almond-shaped. They narrowed as she scowled, not daring to take her gaze from his as she took a step backward.

His nudity distracted her. That was one advantage. Fear and anger still presided.

Curiosity bested her fear though. And lust remained the strongest scent between them.

But Moira was a hunter, addicted to adventure. It was in her nature. Turning her into the hunted changed the pace for her and had her creaming between her legs. The scent of it was intoxicating. That was his second advantage.

“Either way, I’m not interested,” she hissed.

She glanced at the laptop, his only warning before it flew through the air straight toward his face. Intercepting her thought, he ducked before she could do serious damage. The dull ache he nursed from her previous attack was sufficient enough. The laptop crashed to the floor, breaking into two pieces as it slid in opposite directions. She growled in frustration, the sound as erotic as it was deadly.

Dante moved quickly and grabbed her arms, her silky black hair brushing against his palms.

“Change and I swear I will too,” he snarled, pushing her backward until he pinned her against the wall. “Or do you like to play rough?”

“I’m not playing.” Her body physically relaxed but her mind still churned, emotions clogging the room.

Like hell she wasn’t playing.

He didn’t relax his grip. “Then clear your mind and pay heed to who you’re messing with.”

“Tell me who you are.” She ignored his first order.
