Greylan spins
around realizing he forgot about Red for a minute. A reluctant look
has returned to her face. He crosses the room and grabs her hand.
She lets him lead her out the door. When the cool night air hits
his face he turns to her, only inches separating them and
apologizes, “I’m so sorry, Mollie, my sister and her fiance’ it’s
just a mess.”
She pulls her
hand from his and takes a step back. Her eyes seem to cloud in
fear. She shakes her head admitting, “Why do you always have to be
so good?”
He’s surprised
by her statement.
She takes a
step toward him again, “Did you know that I have a list, things
that you do that I love. That right there, it just made the top of
the list. You care so much and you’ll do anything you can to
protect those that you love.”
His brows
raise, “You have a list?”
“Is that all
you heard of what I just told you?”
He gently
brushes her cheek, “No Red, I heard you loud and clear. Five years
ago, I didn’t know it at the time, but I do protect everything I
love and I would go back and do it all over again.”
She flinches
at his words. He wasn’t expecting that reaction but it makes him
want to prove to her that he does care. He leans in kissing her
deeply and she opens up for him freely letting him take the lead.
His hands move slowly over her sides and down to her hips. His dick
gets hard remembering how wonderful this woman is and how she
causes him to feel things he’s never felt before. Her hands move
around his neck pulling him closer. A low growl sounds from deep in
his throat. He’s not sure if they’re going to make it back to the
hotel or not. He fears if he breaks the connection she’ll have
regrets. And he wants no regrets.
The next
morning Red is still in his bed when he wakes up. He didn’t wake up
one time and it was dreamless as far as he can tell. His breathing
slows as he watches her chest move up and down with her own
breathing. He listens for the soft air moving her delicate skin.
His hand moves to her face and he traces her pert little nose and
oval face. Her velvety skin under his rough fingers feels
wonderful. His hand trails down her arm to her hand where he laces
their fingers together. He knows the feelings and thoughts swirling
around are chick thoughts but he doesn’t care. She does something
to him and he doesn’t want to give it up. Her body stirs rolling
into his side. She nuzzles her face into the side of his chest. Her
muffled voice asks, “Grey, what are you doing?”
“I’m adding to
my list of all the things that I love about you.”
Her heart
stops. He can feel the erratic beats against his own skin. His
mirrors hers and he holds his breath, afraid she’ll run again.
Instead she looks up at him placing her hand on his chest. She
looks to her fingers as she swirls them around on his tanned
skin.
“You have a
list? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I do and you
didn’t ask.”
She chuckles,
“What exactly is on this list?”
“It’s pretty
long, it would probably take all day for me to tell you everything
that is on it.”
Her playful
side rears its head as she says, “Well I have pretty much all day.
I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours.”
“Okay, fair
enough, I love all the sides to you, the shy Red, the playful Red,”
he kisses her deeply as his hand runs along her arm, “And my
favorite the feisty Red. I think the day you tried to punch me
turned me on so much.”
She smiles,
“Really, that’s good to know.” She moves above him straddling his
stomach with her naked body.
“Um, maybe not
as turned on as I am right now but close.”
She laughs,
throwing her head back. He moves his hand to touch the hollow of
her throat.
“I love your
skin Mollie, every luscious part of it.”
He brings his
hand around her neck and pulls her down to him. He kisses up her
neck tasting every space leaving his searing touch all over her.
She moans in response causing him to stiffen further. He reaches
over for his wallet as she moves down over him teasing with her
warm core. He moans in response causing a smile to reach her lips.
He fits a condom on before she lowers over him and moves up and
down causing them both to breathe heavily. He reaches up to her
cheek, “Red, I love everything about you.”
A moment later
they both come together and he couldn’t feel more free. This woman
in his arms is something he never wants to let go. He’ll do
everything he can to hold on to her no matter what.
After finding
Mollie again and winning his first pro fight Greylan had some
decisions to make. The first was something he vowed he would never
do but he did it anyway, he moved for a woman. Convincing himself
that it was for his fighting career was his reasoning, but in
reality it was because he didn’t want to let her out of his sight
again.
He moved into
Meyer’s house on the outskirts of town with a few possessions from
home leaving his apartment in Jersey, just in case. Trinity and
Parker went back home to pack up the brownstone. They decided to
make the move officially to Vegas later in the month. Greylan
thinks his move helped to make the decision easier for her.
Although he’s still not happy that she decided to take Parker back,
having her near is all that matters.
He spends most
of his time with Mollie or training at a facility that Jackson
found close by. Unfortunately Jackson had to go back but Jimmy
stayed to keep an eye on him. Vegas seems to be made for Jimmy or
vice versa, he’s in his element all the way.
Tonight he has
a dinner with a sponsor that Jimmy and Meyer set up. He’s a little
nervous about it because those two when separate are trouble,
together, it could be a disaster. But he’s counting on the fact
that they have already got him three other fights all of which he
won. Tonight he’s going into the meeting with a record of
four/zero. He’s feeling pretty okay about things.
He asked Red
to go with him but she had something else she has planned. He’s
getting ready at her apartment in the city in a high rise and she
won’t stop kissing on him.
“Hey, if you
keep that up, I’ll have to strip you and miss my meeting.”
She bats her
eyelashes throwing herself back on the bed sprawling out her arms,
“Would that be so bad?”
“Oh hell.” He
moves to the bed and crawls up her lithe body that he loves so
much. He moves over her on his knees and knuckles. His lips lower,
teasing her mouth. She moans and he knows if he doesn’t stop he’ll
either need a cold shower or he’ll strip her down and do all the
things rolling through his mind to her. He shakes his head and
crawls back off the bed.
“Aw Grey, it’s
cold over here now.”
He shakes his
head, “Won’t work. It’s like ninety degrees out there right now?
Just so you know, I hate summers here.” Changing the subject will
make his evident excitement go away, he hopes. The cold shower is
starting to sound like a better option.
“Ah, Grey, I
love that about you, you’ll move to a place that you don’t like,
just for me.”
He smirks.
That is their game, they have yet to actually say the words but for
now, this is enough. He suspects she’s been through some tough
stuff in her past just like him and the time just isn’t right.
A limo pulls
up to the curb as seven o’clock hits. He slides in to find Jimmy
and Meyer already in the back. Meyer has a shitty grin on his face
and Jimmy looks like he’s up to something. Always. He asks, “what’s
up with you two?”
He notes that
suddenly they have become extremely close. When he was on the
amateur circuit before with Jimmy as his manager, Meyer practically
whined like a chick at the ridiculousness of having a manager at
that level. He didn’t seem to care for Jimmy. Now though, they seem
pretty tight.
Jimmy looks to
Meyer exchanging an understanding and sits up. His tone comes out
serious as if he’s conducting a business meeting. That’s why
Greylan stuck with him. He knows how serious this is to Greylan and
he’s also serious about it.
“Okay Champ,
the man you are going to meet tonight is a serious player as a
sponsor. He knows you’re in a unique situation and I think that is
what intrigues him. His name is Vincent Luciano. If he likes you
and feels you have potential, we’re a shoe in.”
Greylan
nods.
“Let me do the
talking.”
Greylan
smiles. Are his communication skills that bad? He remembers Jackson
doing the talking with his parole officer to let them come here to
fight and then again for him to stay making it his permanent
residence. She still doubts him but Jackson has the talking
capabilities with her.
He nods again
relenting to let Jimmy do all the talking. As long as Greylan can
get more fights. He’s itching for more. Unfortunately after the
night in the bar a couple of months ago, Parker has been on his
best behavior with his sister so the urge to kill him has left, at
least momentarily. He would like to get in the cage with him though
and see what he can do.
The restaurant
is packed, but a hostess leads them to a table in the corner
obscured from the rest of the room. A greying man that Greylan
recognizes stands as they approach the table. He holds his hand out
and smiles, revealing perfectly white, straight teeth. He remembers
seeing this man at his first fight in Vegas. He sat with Jimmy and
Meyer that night.
“A pleasure to
finally meet you Greylan Pace.”
“Nice to meet
you, Mr. Luciano.”
“You can call
me Vince; we are going to be business partners after all.”
A fist of
doubt or call it uneasiness forms in Greylan’s chest but he decides
his nerves are a mess.
They sit and
order drinks. He looks over at the older man. His hair is slicked
back and when he glances over Greylan notices light green eyes,
almost a hazel color. His suit looks like it could be Armani or
some top end brand. Greylan isn’t sure, he’s not familiar with name
brands as much as Mollie is trying to teach him about fashion.
Dinner rolls
on, Jimmy is on his game. Greylan glances over at Meyer and notices
that he seems down lately. His eyes have purple under them telling
of a lack of sleep and his hair is longer than Greylan has ever
seen it. He’s been drinking heavily but Greylan decides he can’t
save Meyer, he tried so many times to get through and he was
unsuccessful.
The day he
told Meyer he was going to move to Vegas, he was fully supportive
and offered to share his house. It became his when his mom passed
the year before from liver disease. He’s tried talking to him about
her but he suspects that is something still bothering him. When
Greylan told him how serious he was about Mollie, he was sure Meyer
would take back the offer. But to his surprise, he didn’t. Now he
mopes around or doesn’t come home most nights when Greylan is
there.
“So Greylan,
Meyer here tells me you are going for the top.”
“Of course I’d
like to win it all, who wouldn’t?”
“True, very
true.” He picks up his drink and swirls the vodka around before
taking a long sip.
He looks to
Meyer who gives him a nod.
“Okay, I think
we might be able to work out a deal. I’ll set things up with Jimmy
here and we’ll see what kind of fights we can get you.”
Greylan’s lips
turn up slightly. Not much can bring him down right now. It’s been
a while but at that moment, everyone he cares about is okay and
he’s okay.
Finally
