Our Best Man

“Here,” my
fiance says, “put it in. I trust you.”

Then he's
pressing a cock into my hand, folding my fingers closed around it.
It belongs to his best friend. My ex-boyfriend. The best man at our
wedding.

The wedding is
tomorrow, but tonight I'm here with them, all of us naked, my
fiance, Matt, on his hands and knees and Richard's penis throbbing
in my fist. They're both watching me, Matt peering back over his
shoulder. Richard, our third for the evening, licks his lips. “Go
ahead, Lizzie. Help me fuck him.”

I guide the
spongy tip of him to my fiance's virgin, waiting hole.

“Here goes
nothing,” I whisper, and it begins.

“Hey,
Beautiful.”

I jumped.
“You're not supposed to be in here.”

Soft sounds of
footsteps behind me, then the smoky smell of him before he appeared
with me in the suite's mirror. “Yeah, well...I couldn't resist a
sneak peak at the blushing bride. And besides,” he said, his face
next to mine in the reflection, “it's the husband who's not
supposed to see you. No one says anything about the
ex-boyfriend.”

I scrunched my
nose at him, and the perfect face in the mirror did the same. It
was hard to believe that it was
me
looking
back: the trial run of makeup on my face had hidden all my flaws,
making me look like myself, but... perfect. My hair was done, too,
and even though Matt wouldn't be seeing it, I couldn't help but
flinch away from Richard to protect it. “You're messing up my
hair.”

Ah, come on now. Nothing could ruin you. I really mean it,
you look... amazing.” His voice broke a little on the last word but
we both pretended we didn't hear it. His pupils were wide in the
mirror as he took it all in. He swallowed hard, and I put my hand
over the one he'd laid on my shoulder. I wondered if he was
thinking it, too; that it could have been him I was marrying
tomorrow.

I missed my chance.” He said it so softly I barely heard the
words.

I turned to
look up at him. “This was a bad idea, wasn't it.”

What?”

Asking you to be in our wedding. I mean, I love you to bits—”
he winced slightly at that, but recovered, “—but if it's going to
be too hard for you... I'm sure Matt will understand.”

His eyes
flickered, then warmed. “Matt and I have talked about this, you
know. Probably more than you realize. I told him, and I'm telling
you, that I can handle this. I blew my chance back then, but that's
my problem, not yours. I just want you to be happy, Bunny.”

Bunny
: because we started dating the first
Easter after we graduated. He'd said it the first time almost by
accident; it didn't exactly mesh with his tough-guy persona. And
when his friends heard him...

Remember how embarrassed you were? When your little friends
heard you say that? I thought you were gonna be kicked out of the
Cool Kids Club.” I smirked, though it faded when I saw the glint in
his eye.

It made you smile, though. You and Matt have my blessing,
okay? I want to be there for you.”

He squeezed my
shoulder, then he was gone, the door closing gently behind him.

Okay, everyone! Listen! We don't want to keep our lovely
bride and her groom up past their bedtimes.” My father's voice
boomed down the long table. “Everyone say goodnight, and you two
head upstairs.
Separately
.”

I told you, Jim, you could've saved some money if you just
let us bunk together,” Matt said, smiling sweetly.

No way. Paws off, buddy. My little girl needs her sleep.” Dad
turned to me and raised his glass. He'd had a few by that point.
“You'll be the most beautiful bride. Now get going, honey, and
sleep well.”

I stood and
looked at the faces of all the friends and family who came with us.
Even my grandma, the one who's terrified of flying, had managed to
come all this way to see us get married. I felt overwhelmed for a
moment. “I just want to thank you all. So much. I always wanted a
beach wedding, and because you were all able to join us I get to
have my dream. I love you.”

I caught Richard's eye by accident when I said
I
love you
.

Maybe this
was
a
mistake.

Then Matt was
beside me, his arm around my waist. “I'll walk you to your room,
Milady.”

We left the
family gathered around the banquet table. Knowing my Dad, they'd be
there until the wee hours of the morning. Mom wouldn't sleep, and
my sister would match Dad shot for shot. I tried not to think of
what they'd look like come morning.

I felt the
first twinges of nervousness.

What am I supposed to do in the room? Watch tv? Everything's
ready to go, and I can't possibly be expected to sit there like
nothing is happening.”

Whoa, relax! Your dad sent you away so you could get some
sleep, and he's right. Tomorrow's your big day, and you need to be
rested enough to enjoy it.”

I thought it was
our
big
day.”

Of course it is. But let's not kid ourselves: tomorrow it's
all about you. I'm just the lucky guy who gets to take you home
after.” We'd reached my room, and he pulled the key card out of his
pocket. “Now you rest up. You've got a lot of excitement
coming.”

Yeah, yeah. What are you going to do tonight?”

Oh, I have some plans.” He winked, then kissed me on the
forehead. “I love you.”

Love you too.”

He let me into
the room and handed me the card. “I'll see you later.”

I must have
fallen asleep, because the sound of the door opening startles me.
For a second I forget where I am; this isn't my bedroom. This isn't
my apartment. Then it hits me: this is the hotel. We're in the
tropics. And tomorrow Matt and I will be married.

This all
cycles through my mind before I snap back to the matter at hand:
Who is this coming uninvited into my room? I freeze atop the hotel
comforter.

A dark head
appears around the door. It's Matt, and he's grinning that
up-to-no-good grin of his.

You're not supposed to be in here. Dad said.”

Well, what Daddy doesn't know can't hurt him. Can I come
in?”

I open my arms
wide, my body already waking to the thought of him in this bed with
me. He glances over his shoulder (is he really watching out for my
father?), and he seems to be talking to someone. I'm beginning to
feel silly with my arms held wide. I let them drop to the bed.

What is going
on, here?

The door opens
wider and I get it: Richard's with him. They're probably drunk, the
two of them, and came by like boys sneaking around at summer camp.
I sit up against the pillows and wait to see what these geniuses
are up to.

Richard hands
a bouquet to Matt and he flourishes it clumsily at me. He never was
one for romance. That was more Richard's territory. When we'd
dated, I mean. Speaking of which...

What are you doing here, Rich?”

Hurt flashes
across his face, and he starts to reply but Matt holds up a
quieting hand.

Honey... this is the last night we'll be single. Technically,
I mean. And I got thinking; maybe it would be good to have one last
crazy adventure.”

You can go to the strip club, if that's what you're asking.
Get it out of your system before you're an old married
man.”

The two of
them perch on the edge of the bed, and a look passes between them.
They look guilty somehow, and I start to wonder if they've already
done something they shouldn't.

No, it's... not that. It's...” He's looking to Richard for
support, or back up, and I'm starting to get nervous. There's a
tense beat of silence, then Richard clears his throat.

We want to have sex with you. Both of us. A, uh...
threesome.”

My mind is
reeling. I'm looking back and forth between them, waiting for the
first smile, the first hint that they're kidding me. It must be a
joke. Must be.

But no one's
laughing. They're both watching me intently, and they're both
serious.

What.

What? I... you want to... I mean, how did
this even come up?”

Rich and I were talking, hon, and we got
to talking about old times. How we met through him, when you two...
well, when you moved and the two of you broke up. Remember? He'd
called me and asked me to show you around, to make sure you were
okay.”

I remembered.
I'd called it off with Rich when I decided the long-distance thing
was too much. Matt had been a friend of his, chivalrous enough to
show a young lady the town, and the next thing you knew...

We started dating.”

Right,” Rich said. “I wanted to make sure
you'd be safe, and I knew Matt would watch out for you. I still
loved you, Lizzie, and I was worried about you being alone. Truth
be told, I still love you now.” His eyes drop to the
comforter.

I'm watching
Matt, waiting for him to deck Rich, for him to get territorial and
claim me for his own. But he's smiling gently, and I'm starting to
get the feeling this is for real. “Rich told me when we were
downstairs in the bar. He never got over you. So I offered him one
more chance. One last night with you.”

My palms are
sweating and suddenly I can't get comfortable.

And you? Why would you let him think he
could be with me again? Don't I get a say?”

Of course! Of course you do. But I got
thinking: Remember that night we were talking about the things we'd
never tried? Things we were still... curious... about? You said
you'd always wanted to try a three-way, and I
said—”

That you always wanted to experiment with
a guy.” It hits me like a ton of bricks. They really mean for this
to happen. And I could say no, of course, but...

I
have
always wanted to try a threesome.

And what
better night, than the night before I settle down?

I look into
Matt's eyes, watching for any hint of hesitation. “You're sure?” I
ask.

If you are.”

Rich chews his
bottom lip.

Okay, then,” I say, “Let's do
this.”

The tension in
the room breaks instantly, and there's a flurry of activity. Rich
hops up to lock the door; Matt shuts off the movie I fell asleep
to. I freeze, heart pounding, waiting for what comes next. None of
us have ever done this before. Who starts? What do we do?

Rich takes the
lead, sitting down beside me, leaning in close, nibbling my neck.
His teeth nip gently at the pulse under my skin. His lips kiss my
throat where it joins my shoulder. He knows that spot, because he
knows my body.

I look for
Matt over Rich's shoulder. He's watching, sitting just off to my
side, and he nods his permission.

My body starts
to respond to Rich's touch, a tiny fire growing inside me, and when
Rich pushes me down to the mattress I don't even try to resist.
He's on top of me, his weight pinning me down, his lips making
their way up and over the sensitive flesh of my throat, climbing
higher until his mouth reaches mine. His tongue finds its way
inside and suddenly it's just like old times, when we'd sneak a
quick make out session on his sofa before his roommate came back.
My hands are in his hair, and I'm arching up into him, the taste of
his breath awakening old memories.
