“I wasn’t the one who was able to disable it. There is another person who knows how to disable the implant. The one who designed it,” Seal commented. “The Leader… tried to kill the researcher after stealing the design.”

“Who?” Kordon demanded.

“Morgan Miller. Anastasia Miller’s younger sister. If I do not return with the module, he will kill her,” Seal replied quietly.

“Krac, contact Roarrk and Anastasia. Tell them to get Morgan somewhere safe. I don’t care if they have to bury her ass under a mountain,” Kordon ordered.

“No!” Seal interrupted, sitting forward. “The Leader was able to get inside to Morgan. Whoever it is can move freely among the council. I just don’t know who the hell it is. If anyone tries to move Morgan, including her sister, she’ll be murdered. I… I have to return. When I do, I’ll either kill the bastard when we meet for the exchange or I’ll get her out. Any sudden changes and the Leader will know.”

“You can’t give them the information,” Gracie protested.

“No, I can’t,” Seal agreed. “But, I can give the Leader false information. He still thinks I am under his control. It will buy time to get Morgan out safely and time to find out what in the hell the Alluthans are planning.”

“How can we do that? We would need to travel to their star system, board one of the motherships and connect to it, all without being caught,” Bran said skeptically.

“You would need a way to link with them to really know what is going on,” Gracie added, biting her lip.

“We would need an Alluthan to do that,” Kordon responded, looking at Krac and Seal.

“Or one of us,” Krac reflected quietly.

Chapter 30

Skeeter looked up at her father and nodded before her eyes moved to Krac who stood staring at her with a quiet hunger in his eyes. She rose and moved toward him instinctively, knowing he needed to hold her as much as she needed to hold him. She glanced at her father who nodded his head in understanding.

“Thank you, daddy,” she whispered, clutching Krac’s hand in hers.

“He makes you happy, Lulu Belle,” Bulldog murmured, brushing her red hair back from her face. “That is all I’ve ever wanted.”

“I love you,” she said with a tender smile and rose up onto her toes and brushed a kiss along his cheek.

Bulldog sighed as he watched Krac put a protective arm around his daughter’s waist. He sat down in the captain’s seat and pulled up the star charts again. As he studied them he thought of the huge male who had claimed his little girl.

“If I had to choose someone who could protect her from what is to come, I couldn’t have chosen any better,” he murmured to himself. “I love you, baby girl. I promised to always protect you. Now you have someone who might be able to do a better job than even me.”

Krac sealed the door behind him as they stepped into Skeeter’s cabin. They were heading back to Sallas but it would be a short stay. They would be leaving the
Lulu Belle
behind and traveling on to Paulus, the capital of the Confederation, shortly after that.

“What is going to happen?” She asked quietly, her fingers slowly undoing the buttons of his shirt.

“A mission to the Alluthan star system more than likely,” he answered her, briefly closing his eyes as her fingers caressed his shoulders as she pushed his shirt off. “At worse, war.”

“You are going to have to go on the mission, aren’t you?” She asked in a trembling voice as her hands rubbed over his chest.

“Probably, along with Seal and the other two Allbreeds if he can find them. It makes the most sense,” he said heavily. “Perhaps this is the reason we were created.”

Skeeter heard the hesitation in his voice, the doubt and a touch of self-loathing. She gently cupped his face, forcing him to look at her. Reaching up on her toes, she brushed a kiss across his lips tenderly before deepening it when he groaned.

Her arms wrapped around his neck as he lifted her up in his arms and carefully laid her down on the soft covers of her bed. She sighed when he pulled back far enough to look down at her. His fingers gently kneaded her hips as he stared into her eyes as if trying to decide whether she would accept what he was about to tell her.

“I was not born, Lulu Belle. I was created in a lab. A mutation of human and Alluthan DNA. Even the scientists who created us thought of us as monsters. They were trying to perfect what the Alluthans had started. They wanted the ultimate weapon, one that could regenerate itself and heal its wounds. They wanted a cold, emotionless killing machine,” he whispered.

“And they made you,” she said with a tender smile. She raised her left hand and ran her fingers along his face. “They made a wonderful man who lit a fire inside me that I’ve never felt before. They made a man who can protect those of us who can’t what is to come without your help. They made…”

“A monster! Didn’t you hear what I said?” He asked harshly. He wanted – needed - her to understand that if she was with him, others wouldn’t see what she saw. “I am a monster.”

“Then they were blind,” she replied. “A monster is someone like Harden. He killed Frog because he enjoyed it. A monster is like the Leader of the New Order and his followers who would destroy millions of lives and worlds for power. That is what a monster is. You, you are none of those things. I love you, Krac. I love the man inside here,” she whispered, touching her hand over his heart. “I love the man who would fight to protect a little girl from the monsters of the world. I love the man who would stand up to a full-grown Triterian and tell him he was sleeping wherever his daughter was sleeping. I love a man who would fight for what he believes in. You are that man.”

Krac could see the sincerity in Skeeter’s eyes as she stared into his. Her heart shone in them as she talked of who she saw. He blinked as an unfamiliar burning stung them. He lowered his head, burying it in her shoulder and pressed a hot kiss to the side of her neck.

“I love you, Lulu Belle,” he whispered in a voice thick with emotion. “I don’t know what the future holds for any of us, but I want mine to have you in it forever.”

“Krac,” she murmured. “I hurt.”

His warm breath caressed her neck as he released a chuckle. She ran her hands along the smooth skin of his back and rotated her hips. A small knowing smile lit up her face when she felt his response.

“I know how to make it stop,” he chuckled again.

“I was hoping you would say that,” she breathed, before gasping as he sat back and ripped her shirt open. “You know, I’m not going to have any clothes left.”

“Good,” he growled. “I like you without them on.”

Skeeter moaned as his hands moved up to her breasts, cupping them while his forefingers and thumbs pinched the taut nipples. It was becoming a familiar argument with them. One that she hoped would continue for many, many decades as he quickly took care of the rest of her clothes.
