“The vermin will
be exterminated. They will not live to see me die!”

Chad Perry’s
voice thunders as an unforgiving rain begins to fall from the summer sky.

The world of the
living becomes an illusion for the dying green-eyed man. He pleads for life not
to let go of him. The irony is that when he, though not always directly, took
the lives of others, he never acknowledged that they too might have been begging
life to have mercy on them.

His green eyes
beg for pity. The scene is poignant. New York has many great people and the man
in the pool of blood is one of the city’s greatest.

Thunder rolls in
the night sky. Nature’s fury reflects the chaos in one of New York’s most
expensive mansions. The heavens crack open as lightning pierces the sky. Death
looms as the sky darkens and the thunder rolls.

Chad sees a fear
he never knew the brave possessed. Though he hates the man on the floor, he
always knew he was one of the most brave and powerful of the city.

The man doesn’t
beg Chad for mercy or for pity. Cowardice is for the weak-hearted. “Fuck you,
Chad Perry. You will always remain a poor boy from the slums who was never
loved. You’ll never reign supreme, even after my death. The city will avenge
me. This city
will
avenge me. Mark my words, poor boy. I helped make you
who you are, and I will take you down, even if death consumes me.”

Chad does not
bother to reply to the man. Instead he makes a phone call.

“I presume you
got my letter that I was still alive … but I can tell you who is dead … your father!
Your old man is dead,” he says, as the man on the phone shouts hysterically
before Chad hangs up.

“Now that is
what you call payback!” he mutters to himself.

Chad leaves the
mansion, dropping his cigar as a sign of defiance on the finely mowed lawn.

She looks at him with dread in
her eyes. She had managed to get into the mansion, and tears pour from her
eyes.

He stops,
frozen. His icy and motionless stare is filled with regret. He does not want
her to see the ruthless man that he is. Suddenly, out of the blue, she screams
piercingly into the air as the thunder howls in the sky. He runs over to her
and covers her mouth, stifling her screams of horror.

“Please, be
quiet, Sierra. I can explain.”

She stares at
him angrily with terror in her eyes as he slowly removes his hand from her
mouth.

She screams once
more, and he stifles her scream again as she bites him.

“Please,
princess. I am begging you. If you love me you will remain quiet and let me
explain.”

She pushes his
face angrily and he removes his hand from her mouth.

“But we have to
get out of here immediately before I explain anything. Okay?”

Reluctantly, she
follows him as they run out of the mansion and into his car.

CHAPTER 40

In the car, Sierra hits and
pushes him angrily as she screams abuse at him. “You fucking murderer, you
killer.”

No woman has ever spoken to or
insulted him the way Sierra does, nor has a woman ever laid hands on him, but
he allows her the luxury to vent her anger on his hard and impenetrable body,
knowing that he will never hit her back. As a matter of fact, he likes it when
she is rough with him; it shows him that she is somewhat like him – unable to
be tamed when enraged.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for you
to see that.”

“How the fuck
can you say you didn’t mean for me to see that,” she sobs hysterically. “You
killed him. You killed Uncle Danny. You killed Uncle Danny!”

Chad’s eyes
ignite with fury. “He was not a good man Sierra, so I suggest you stop crying,”
he says coldly.

“W – what!?”

“I said stop
fucking crying for him,” Chad thunders, making her shiver. “Daniel Benoit is
father to Sebastian Benoit and half-brother to your boss!”

Sierra almost
faints from the news. Her mind fails as she tries to unravel the words in her
head. Fresh tears cloud her eyes. Her heart beats violently as words fail her.

“The three of
them plotted against me. They ordered your kidnapping to get to me because they
wanted me dead. That was why I never came to rescue you, as it was all a trap.
New York is not my city for no reason. It is my city because whatever I need to
know will be made known to me, and all was revealed to me about how they had been
targeting me and how Sebastian stalked me and tried to emulate me in every way
possible. But he couldn’t because there is only one Chad Perry, the only King
of New York. Before he made himself known to us he stalked me for weeks,
watching my every move with you. His uncle considers himself the King of New York;
however I overthrew him a long time
ago, alongside his brother Daniel. They had fallen but felt they could rise up
against me. Nonetheless they could not conquer the conqueror
. The day I
met you was the last time I saw him, and I made it known to him that I am the
only king in this city. They must fall one by one. Daniel Benoit made sure you
got the job on Wall Street in order to get closer to me. That way they could
keep an eye on you. You were the perfect piece in their puzzle. They knew that
you were my only weakness.”

Sierra sobs quietly.

“Daniel Benoit
was the man that shot me. He tried to kill me, and you sit here fucking crying
for him. He and Sebastian were the two men that had been stalking me!” he says
with anger in his voice.

“I … I … I’m
sorry, baby,” she sobs quietly, and her sadness immediately fades as she
realises that Uncle Danny was really her worst enemy because he’d tried to kill
the only man she loves.

Chad touches her
hair gently.

“It’s alright.
I’m the one that should be sorry for allowing you to witness that,” he says and
softly kisses her lips. “Do you trust me, princess? Do you trust that I’ve
never killed a man before?” His voice is cold and lacking in emotion, almost as
if he may be lying.

Sierra is unable
to answer as a look of evil and danger reveals itself in his cold eyes. “You
have to believe me, princess, you have to,” he urges as his hands shake
feverishly. “Please tell me that you do, please, princess.” Her heart beats
violently as his cold stare fixes itself in her eyes. A cold shiver runs down
her spine.

She looks at him
awkwardly with a thousand thoughts rushing through her mind. The coldness in
his voice is like opium to her. She senses that deep down he wants someone that
understands the evil within him, someone that will love him no matter what his
crimes, someone that will take his pain and still feel the pleasure it brings.
A profound desire consumes her to be the one that Chad needs.

“I love you,
baby, and I will always believe what you tell me.” She is shocked at the
darkness within her that allows her to believe him without proof, and the fact
that she is no longer fearful of the man that is Chad Perry.

“Make love to me
right now, baby.” Sierra is shocked at her own boldness, but more so her disregard
for what has just occurred in favour of Chad’s touch. In all his anger, rage
and regret she sees him as beautiful.

“This is not the
time for such things, princess. I have just killed a man.”

“The emphasis is
on ‘may’. You may not have. With all his money he is probably being treated at
a private hospital as we speak.” She smiles at him in an effort to ease his
anguish. “Even if you have, so what? What can they do to the King of New York?
Nothing!” His eyes spark with a look of shock in her direction. Her mind
confusingly questions her morals as her heartbeat escalates.

“Are you not
afraid of the man that I am?” His stare is so cold that it almost freezes her
senses.

“No,” she says
with a confidence that shocks her.

“Why?” he asks,
his breathing low and deep as he stares into her eyes.

“Because I too
possess my own demons, and only when I’m with you do they disappear.”

Without warning,
he starts to slowly undress her. She feels her blood awaken with desire as his
fingers softly caress her.

“Why do I feel
like this for you, Sierra?” His eyes are filled with passion and desire. “I
have never needed a woman so deeply and purely before.” His voice is so soft
that it makes her instantly wet. “Only you are truly able to take away my pain.
I love you, princess,” he whispers, as he stares lovingly into her eyes.
“Promise me that you’ll never take your love away.”

“I promise to
never leave. I will never leave you, Chad,” she says softly, as he kisses her
neck. She moans as the softness of his wet tongue licks her flesh.

“Come out in the
rain with me, princess.”

She follows him,
hypnotically. He lifts her onto the bonnet of the expensive car.

“Spread your
legs, baby, let the rain caress you.”

She moans as the
water flows inside her, making her feel good.

“Say my name,
princess, say it out loud,” he says softly.

His blue eyes
are hypnotic as he starts to take off all his clothing. She watches him as he
reveals his finely sculpted body to her. He takes off his bandages, and for the
first time he reveals his wound to her.

“I need you to see
all of me, princess.”

She cries as she
watches him with admiration and hurt as she sees the deep gash in his flesh.

“Don’t cry,
baby, please don’t cry. I hate it when tears fall from your eyes.”

He walks to her
and softly kisses her tears away. She craves him and it drives her wild as he
softly kisses her breasts, biting and pulling her nipples as her moans fill the
night sky.

“Please take me,
Chad,” she begs, as his eyes cause her to melt inside.

“As you wish, my
queen.”

Slowly, ever so
slowly he enters her, and she gasps with pleasure. “Yes, baby, yes,” she
whispers. Tears of pleasure fall from her eyes as he makes sweet, sweet love,
without any pain, to her. She plays with his soft locks as he moans her name.

“Yes, Sierra, I
love how you feel, so warm and soft.” He exhales deeply and she hears the
pleasure he feels.

“I love you,
baby, I love you,” she moans, as he slowly penetrates her. She digs her fingers
deep into his flesh as he causes sweet pleasure inside her. She cries tears of
happiness and pleasure as he brings her to a climax. He holds her gently as she
orgasms on his manhood.

He gently kisses
her lips and she feels a deeper love for him that she didn’t know could surpass
the way she already loved him.

“Promise you’ll
always love me and that you’ll change, because the life you live is too
dangerous, babe,” she says lovingly.

Chad is feeling troubled in his
heart. He knows he cannot offer her the love she requires. He wishes that she
hadn’t asked for such a hefty promise. The love she needs requires him to
change. He will have to change his lifestyle, the ways he makes money, the way
he fucks her in the forbidden room, but most importantly, it will require him
to denounce his throne, and that is something he knows he cannot do.

“I love you,
Sierra. But not the way you want and I can never love you like that. I am not
that man. I can’t be with you,” he says calmly, as tears well up in her eyes.
“Sierra, please don’t. You know I hate it when you cry.” His voice lacks
emotion as he looks straight ahead, unable to look at the pain he’s causing
her.

“I am hopelessly
in love with you and you know it. I’ve taken your love and your pain – fucked-up
pain – just to satisfy your sordid and depraved desires. Anything to please you
I’ve done, even when it hurt me. You can’t keep taking me through this
emotional rollercoaster of euphoric highs and devastating lows. I can’t take
any more of your elusiveness, it’s driving me crazy. Stop trying to control
everything around you and just let us be,” she says, with a pleading look in
her eyes.

“I’ll only hurt
you, Sierra,” he says quietly.

“I don’t want to
live without you, Chad. Don’t you feel the same?”

His eyes darken
as he stares at her frostily. He sees the hope in her eyes as she desperately
waits for his answer.

“No. I don’t
feel the same. I can’t change who I am, Sierra. This is me in all my dark
glory. My thoughts are dark, the ways I want to fuck you are dark, and the
things I’m involved in are dark. I know you don’t want such a man.”

“But I do, I
do,” she insists tearfully. “Ok, fine, just love me how you already do. I’ll
take your pain and accept you the way you are. I’m sorry I asked you to change.
I should have known that it’s too much to ask for.”

The pain and
need in her voice hurts him. He knows she’s only saying such words because she
is afraid of losing him, not because it’s want she truly wants.
