“Kia, really…?” Duke said with a smirk on his face.

Just then there was a very loud noise that came from the other side of the kitchen where Sammy was standing with the fridge door in his hands. Not as in an open fridge door, but as in holding it in his hands after ripping it off its hinges. Then they all watched as he quickly emptied the items that were sitting on the shelves on the door, turned to his alphas, and said, “We’ll buy you a new fridge, boys, but these pups need to know who they are dealing with, and the only way they are going to believe us is to see it with their own eyes.” And then Jeff walked over, took the fridge door from Sammy, and folded it in half.

Everyone turned to see Tony, Duke, and the rest of the men inside standing with their mouths open.

“Close your mouths, boys. You’ll catch flies.” Jeff laughed and placed the bent fridge door against the wall and sat down again.

“Damn, Jeff, you couldn’t break something a little less expensive?” Alex asked through his laughter.

“We told you we’d buy you a new fridge, Alex,” Sammy said.

“Yeah, but next time, break a bedroom door or something, will ya, Dads? Sheesh, how are we going to keep things cold now?” Kianna couldn’t help but laugh.

“Nothing to say, Tony? Duke?” Teaghen turned to the two men who just continued to stare at Jeff and Sammy in awe.

“Sorry, guys, we didn’t mean any disrespect. We just hadn’t seen you around much, so we were leery, that’s all. We want to make sure that everyone who is able to can help in protecting Kia and the alphas,” Tony said, his face showing how chagrined he really was feeling.

“Kianna is our daughter, and no one other than her mates would protect her better than us,” Sammy stated firmly.

“All right, boys, let’s all settle now so that we can figure out a way to set our plan into motion.” Kianna glanced up at her dads and winked and blew them both a kiss.

“Kianna, honey, you really don’t need to be involved in this, do you?” Sammy asked with a worried look.

“Yes, Dad, I do. Ray still thinks I’m like the little girl he used to kick around like a weak, little puppy. He needs to learn that this little puppy has grown big and strong and now has very sharp teeth.” She smiled brightly. “And with you two, Tony, and Duke, I won’t be alone in the house with him anyway. Teaghen, Duncan, and Alex will take care of his partners, and I’ll let Ray take a swipe at me before opening a really big can of whoop ass on him.”

“You talk as if you’ll be dealing with someone who has some sense left in his brain. Ray doesn’t. He’s pure evil and will probably come at you with a gun. You may be strong enough to beat him in a fight, but you can’t outrun a bullet,” Jeff said sadly.

“No, I can’t, but you two have taught me well on how to protect myself in almost
every
possible scenario. I’m not reckless enough to think that he won’t come at me without a weapon. Of course he will, that’s his style, but as long as I’m prepared and have backup, he won’t get a chance to use it.” Rising from her chair, she went to stand by her dads. “The two of you took me as your own from the day you married Mom. Through your love and devotion to Mom and me, we both blossomed. The memories I have of the beatings by Bubba and Ray will always be with me, but they don’t control me. You showed me my worth as a person, and that helped to make those memories just that, memories.” She pulled both her dads in for a big hug and kissed their cheeks before going back to her seat.

“Shit, you guys are so lucky to have found her,” Duke said quietly.

“Yeah, she’s something special all right.” Duncan smiled and gently cupped the side of her cheek.

After a round of debates on how to handle things, the details were finally made, so the only thing left was to put it into action.

Kianna, Alex, Duncan, and Teaghen entered the diner and were greeted immediately by many of the patrons as they headed to the booth in the back. Everyone had been on edge over the last couple of days, so it was nice to be able to get away from the compound awhile.

“What can I get for y’all today?” Maisy asked them.

After writing down their order, Maisy turned to leave but quickly turned back and kissed Kia on the top of the head and whispered in her ear, “Everything’s going to be just fine, honey. We’ll make sure of it.” And she headed back into the kitchen.

“Does the whole pack know what’s going on, Duncan?” Kianna asked in a whispered tone.

“Everyone who has any contact with Ray on a regular basis will have been made aware of the coming events so that they can be more alert for strangers that come into town.” Duncan didn’t want to get into how Maisy and some of the other pack elders had ripped a strip off of all three of them for allowing Kianna to do this. But they hadn’t said anything to them that he and his brothers hadn’t already felt. Kianna was strong willed, which they’d have to tame her in the bedroom, but she was a perfect match for them.

“Duncan…Duncan?” Kianna had asked him a question, but he’d completely zoned out.
Way to go on the alertness scale there, Dunc, old boy.

“You must have been thinking about something awfully important, sweetie.” She smiled and leaned into him.

Placing his arm around her, he tugged her harder against his side and whispered in the ear, “I was thinking about all the orgasms we’re going to give you once this is all over.”

Kianna felt her face heating and the cream flow from her pussy. Just the thought of them pleasuring her was enough to almost give her an orgasm.

“Heads up, guys. Ray and a couple of his friends are heading into the diner. Looks like it’s time to get the show on the road,” Teaghen said quietly.

Kianna watched as Ray and two strange men entered the diner. Ray walked with them over to a booth at the front of the restaurant and then headed in their direction. As soon as he got to the table, Kianna leaned back as if she was afraid of him. Not fucking likely, but she wanted to make sure he thought so.

“Well, boys, have you thought any about my offer?” Ray smiled down at Kianna.

“No, Ray, they haven’t. They love me and wouldn’t let you hurt me,” she said meekly.

“Now, Kia, baby,” Teaghen turned to her. “I wouldn’t say it’s exactly love but more like a real big case of lust.” All three of her men laughed along with Ray.

“What exactly does that mean, Teaghen?” Kianna said in a voice full of outrage.

Still smiling on the outside, Teaghen hated having to even say the words. “It means that as long as you can satisfy us, we’re more than happy for you to live with us. It’s nice to have a woman around the house again that can cook and clean. None of us can do it, and with you around, it saves us a whole lot of money hiring more staff.”

Pushing Duncan, she screamed, “Get the fuck out my way, Duncan.”

Once she was standing beside Ray. She leaned in toward the three men still seated at the table.

“You all are a bunch of bastards. I thought you loved me, that I was someone special to you. But I’m nothing more than free maid service.” He could tell Kianna’s heart was ripping into pieces just saying it.

“Well, if you don’t like it, you can go back to your ranch anytime?” Teaghen yelled back at her.

“That’s exactly what I’ll do then,” she blinked back the tears that were threatening to fall. “Don’t ever call me again, do you hear me?”

With that, she ran out of the diner, almost knocking Maisy over on her way out.

“See, I told you she was nothing but a whore, didn’t I?” Ray started to sit down at their table, but neither Duncan nor Teaghen would move, so he continued to stand.

“Don’t worry. I’ll get her out of everybody’s hair right quick.” Ray gave them all a sickening smile. “My friends and I can make sure she disappears and isn’t a bother to any of us anymore.” Ray gave one last nod and headed back to his table.

Kianna’s skin crawled at the thought of any of those men putting their hands on her, but she trusted that Tony and the boys would make sure she was as safe as she could be. Even though she knew it was all an act, it still didn’t feel nice having them say such awful things to her or having to walk away from them. They were her men, and she wasn’t going to allow Ray or anyone else to continue to make their lives difficult, and this was the quickest way to stop them.

She’d driven to the diner in her own vehicle because she knew she’d need to be able to leave quickly. Heading back toward her ranch, she tried to go through every scenario that could happen, but she found it was only giving her a headache. Her dads, Tony, Duke, and a couple of other men had gone to the ranch house early in the morning and were waiting for her arrival.

Pulling the truck in front of the house, she quickly exited the vehicle and headed inside, scanning the area along the way. She didn’t want any surprises to suddenly pop up.

Opening the door, she knew right away that everyone was in place. Jeff and Sammy were sitting at her kitchen table drinking some of the iced tea that she’d made a few days previously.

“Is everything all right, sweetheart?” Sammy asked as he pulled the chair closest to him out and waited for Kianna to sit.

“Everything is good so far. Ray thinks that Teaghen and his brothers are done with me and that since I’ll be all alone on the ranch, I’m sure that he’s going to try and take me very soon. The men that he came to the diner with today didn’t look like they were the patient sort.” She smiled wryly. “Are the rest of the guys upstairs, or haven’t they arrived yet?”

Jeff and Sammy looked at each other and smiled. “Oh, they’re not in the house, honey, but they’re not far,” Jeff said.

“They’ll know, probably even before you do, when Ray makes his move. We decided that they’d remain in wolf form so that they could use their senses better. When we’re in human form, our senses are heightened dramatically, but as a wolf, they are off the charts, so having five or six male wolves watching the ranch is the best protection.”

Kianna nodded and decided that she needed to act like nothing out of the ordinary was wrong, other than the fact that she’d just had her heart ripped out of her chest. That way Ray wouldn’t suspect a trap.

* * * *

As they exited the diner, Ray and his friends headed to his truck.

“We need to make our move quickly, Ray,” one of them said. “The faster she’s taken care of, the faster we can start the shipments again.”

“I know that, but I need to do this alone. If we all head up there, it’s going to look suspicious, and even though the Featherstones won’t say anything, I don’t want others around here to know what the hell is going on. Head back to your motel room for now, and I’ll bring the little bitch to you. Once you get her out of town, you can do with her what you want, but when you’re done, send her to the bosses overseas. I told them she would be shipped to them soon, and they’re getting a little anxious.” Ray climbed in the driver’s side of the truck, started the vehicle, and pulled out headed in the direction of the ranch.

This was it, he thought. He was finally going to remind that uppity little bitch exactly where her place was. On her knees groveling for forgiveness. All he had to do was grab her, throw her in the truck, and take her back to his buddies at the motel. They could get her out of town quickly and quietly, and then everything would be back to the way it was before Bubba had gone crazy, leaving everything to his whore of a daughter. He still couldn’t understand why he did it. Out of all his brothers, he had been the most loyal to their daddy. He always made sure that Bubba had any type of woman he wanted anytime he wanted one. He smiled remembering the last time, before Steve’s death, that he’d grabbed a woman and brought her home for his daddy. Bubba had smiled and told him what a great son he was and that, after he finished with the girl, he could have her. He’d never done that with his other boys, only him, so why didn’t Bubba leave him the ranch? He must have started to get all addlebrained in his old age. That could be the only reason.
