Chapter 23

The following Friday……

Daniel was in a good mood as he set off for the office, he was going to see Nicole tonight.  He settled into the Audi
’s leather seat and checked his mirror as he manoeuvred the country roads to the office; work was taking up more of his time.  He had spent long nights in the office this week it was the end of the year and his profit’s were looking good.

They had hit their target and he had to
work out where to take it now but he was distracted, he just wanted to see Nicole again. They had been talking all week, either on the phone or Facebook.  He smiled when he thought of the way he could talk to her, now he knew her again in real life and he wanted to make this weekend so special.  He felt nervous when he thought about his plans; there was still a fragile tension between them.

This weekend was about
answers, he needed to know if there was a future for them, he had to find out how she really felt about him.  He couldn’t believe he was going to see her again so soon, her train arrived at 7pm and the minutes ticked by.

He
sat at his desk and faced all his unread emails he had to plough through until lunchtime and then he could wind down in the afternoon.  The draft accounts received from his accountant read well and he was pleased with the balance sheet, he had worked so hard to get this and now he had it in his hand it felt like a hollow victory.  His priorities had changed, he realised as he checked the time.

Giddiness rushed through him
as he left to meet her, he had booked a restaurant in the city that he knew she would love. A little table in a covered courtyard, it was intimate enough and they could catch up on the week without being interrupted.  He wanted her so much, the thought of her beautiful body and mind, the way she looked at him, how she was quiet and unassuming but under the surface so complicated.  The niggle from the voice in his head was suppressed for now, but he still felt she was holding something back from him but he couldn’t think what it was.  He was concerned she might have someone else but then he thought about her eyes and the way she looked at him and it just didn’t make sense.

As h
e stood on the station and watched her get off the train, he felt a surge of emotion; she had a dark red dress, cut above the knee and it showed her slim tanned legs.  He watched her walk down the platform and felt a surge of love for her, she was amazing and he walked over to greet her.  She saw him and her face lit up, he grabbed her and kissed her hard on the platform.

“Hi” he said, looking at her eyes “
God I’ve missed you Nicole, this week felt like forever”.  She smiled at him as he took her bag from her and she held his free hand as they walked to the car park.

“Oh it’s so good to be back Daniel” she said as he put her bags in the car and he turned around and she put her arms around him reaching up to kiss him again.  He wanted to ditch the restaurant and take her home now.

“I’ve booked a table, I hope you don’t mind” Nicole felt slightly disappointed, she knew this weekend was going to be hard and she just wanted to spend their time together alone.  She wanted to remember the magic they had between them before she broke the spell and told him the truth and he walked away, she smiled up at him.

“That’s lovely, we can eat and go back yours, I have missed you so much” she said and he looked over at her, he knew what she meant and he instantly regretted his dinner choice
as they arrived at the restaurant.  They both studied the menu, she had the langoustine pasta and he went for the rack of lamb.

Nicole sipped a glass of wine and they chatted about the week, she listened to him tell her about
his work and studied his face. She forgot how gorgeous he was in real life and she still had an image in her head of a fragile, sensitive man when they talked on Facebook. When she was with him and he was confident and sexy like this she couldn’t put the two together, she had taken her shoe off and as he was talking she ran her foot up his leg. She took a sip from her wine glass and watched him as he carried on talking. He was getting aroused as her foot touched his erection and she ran her tongue over her lips and moved her hand down to her chest. As she pulled the neckline of her dress a little lower he looked at her she wasn’t wearing a bra, a passer by wouldn’t have noticed but Daniel knew exactly what she was doing. When he had finished his story he lent forward.

“Nicole you are playing a dangerous game tonight” she raised her eyebrows and brushed her hand across her breast, he could see her nipples through the thi
n red fabric he took a breath “Right that’s it we are going”

He put his knife and fork down
, his lamb barely touched, asked for the bill and they walked out into the night air.  Edinburgh was full of people and the sounds of the city were intoxicating, they walked back to the car in silence their hands entwined.  He turned to her as they got to the car and pushed her against the door, kissing her sensually and she giggled as she pushed him away, she loved that she had such an effect on him.

His iPod played
a dark dance beat as he drove through the city and Nicole put her hand on his leg, circling his thigh and edging higher. She looked at his face but he was just looking straight ahead. He pulled up at some traffic lights and glanced over at her and she bit her lip and stared back at him, her eyes large and innocent. They arrived at the gatehouse and he opened the door, she stood in the hallway in front of the mirror as he stood behind her looking at her.

He was losing control of himself now, he ran his hands underneath her dress and she wasn’t wearing any underwear.  She watched him in the mirror as his hands moved across her body. He lifted her dress and his fingers teased her, he kissed her neck, his other hand found her nipples and he ran his hand over the fabric. He could feel her becoming more aroused as they watched
each other through the mirror. “You are beautiful, I need to fuck you Nicole” He whispered to her as he watched her becoming more aroused, a smile played on his lips as she gasped.  He hadn’t spoken like that before and she found it alluring. She tried to move his hand away but he kept hold of her and she was unable to move.

“I told you, you are playing a dangerous game tonight N
icole” He smiled and knew she was close to orgasm.  She stood and looked at him incredulously through the glass of the mirror.

“Oh
God Daniel this isn’t fair” she said as he looked at her, amusement playing in his eyes.

“What?” his eyes were laughing, he didn’t know if he could keep this pretence much longer, he needed her.

She returned his smile “I thought you were a womanising playboy?”.

“I need you Nicole” he couldn’t control his response and he unfastened his trousers with his spare hand
.  He trapped her against the small hallway table and she gasped as he slammed into her from behind, he moved his hand and slowly teased her as he kept himself inside.

“Oh
God Daniel” she was powerless to move as she felt the orgasm building up inside her.  He kept her pushed against the table, as he kept moving inside her, his hand played with her nipples and he kissed her neck, sending shivers down her body.

“I don’t think I can control
myself any longer” He whispered and she shook her head, unable to speak and she knew she would come.  She moaned as the intensity of the orgasm flooded through her and he pushed himself deeper inside her, letting go of her as he came. He traced her face with his hands.

He lent up and kisse
d her “You” he said “You drive me crazy, you just seduced me again, and you have such an effect on me I don’t know how I managed to drive back” they laughed “I couldn’t even eat my sodding dinner”

Nicole looked at him; she didn’t want to break the spell of being here with him.  She felt so close to him now, she knew he was her soul mate and yet she kept her deepest secret from him.

“Do you want some cheese on toast?” She stood up, her thoughts were broken. Her emotions were so mixed up, she couldn’t tell him yet. Just one more day she promised herself, she needed clarification from him about how he really felt about her, she knew he cared for her she just didn’t know if he loved her.

They found some fresh brea
d and he lit the grill and melted cheese on it. He opened some wine and they sat together on the sofa, her legs on his as they ate their supper. They talked about everything and anything but not about the issues they both wanted to discuss, Daniel felt nervous around her when he thought about what he had to say to her. He didn’t want her to leave on Sunday. He wanted her to stay forever.  He didn’t know what the future would hold for them and he needed more, he just needed to know what she wanted.

He couldn’t ask her, scared that the answer would
n’t be what he wanted to hear.  The words choked inside him and he just tried to enjoy her company while she was with him.  They returned to bed and lay naked together.  He kissed her and she felt herself floating away as he moved down to her navel, she moved underneath him urging him to go further.  Daniel stopped when he noticed the scar “I’ve not noticed this before” he said tracing the line of her C-section.

Nicole froze,
God he couldn’t find out like this, she sat up. “I had erm appendix problems, had to have an operation” she said, suddenly back in reality “It was ages ago, it’s fine now” she said seeing the concern on his face as he kissed her again.  She pulled him back up to her face and kissed him, but she felt sad, sad for lying and sad for not being able to find the moment to tell him the truth.

“I’m tired” she sighed “I need to conserve my e
nergy for tomorrow” she tried to keep her voice light. Daniel looked confused but he kissed her and lay back on the pillow, tracing her face with his finger. The scar on her forehead was fading away and he kissed it. A memory of when they first met. He could just speak to her now he thought but he just couldn’t find the words to say and froze inside, he felt miserable as he looked at her. This beautiful strong woman he loved so much, he was scared of breaking the magic between them by asking too much of her, he could sense she was holding back and he didn’t want to come over too pushy.  He turned the light off and held her close, they both fell asleep lost in their own thoughts and their dreams intermingled as they slept through the night.

Nicole woke up and Daniel was not in the bed, she sat up rubbing her eyes through the morning sun.  He needed to invest in some blackout blinds. She could now smell the aroma of coffee
, she grabbed a dressing gown hanging on the door and went downstairs. He was dressed in a grey t-shirt and shorts and was dancing around the kitchen as he prepared some pancakes for breakfast.  His iPod was in a good mood she mused as it played happy songs to them.

“Good morning” he smiled “A
re you hungry?  Because I’m bloody starving” he kissed her on the lips he tasted of coffee and she grabbed herself an espresso from the machine.  His blue eyes shone in the morning light, he looked happy and beautiful.

He makes wonderful food
she thought as she ate the soft buttery pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup.

“Where did you learn to cook Daniel” she asked him.

He shrugged his shoulders “I’ve eaten out at some fantastic places” he said “That and too much free time and a subscription to the cooking channel I guess” and he pointed to the cook books “And a lot of reading material, I would love to have to kind of life where you have friends over every weekend for dinner parties, but I guess it’s not really panning out that way, so I cook for myself” he pointed at her plate with his fork “Well for you now” he smiled “I’m glad you liked it” and she looked at him, his hair was still messy from waking up and his face was shadowed with stubble.  He had an earthy look to him this morning, like he was part of the country.

She walked over to him and sat on his knee, kissed him and he put his fork down to
wrap his hands round her waist.  She took the opportunity to steal the last piece of his pancake and laughed at his crestfallen face.

“I was saving that” he said in a childish voice and she kissed him

“Well I will have to make it up to you then” his hands found her belt and he undid it, slowly took her robe off and wrapped his arms round her naked body.  He gently teased her with his hands and she kissed him.

Daniel st
ood up and gave her robe back “Well that’s enough of that” he said teasing her “You will have to make me another pancake if you want me back” he pouted and she laughed.

“You are too easy Daniel” as she traced her finger up her thigh and walked towards the stairs, “I will be upstairs, you will only have to imagine what I’m doing up there” he stood up and chased her up the stairs.  She was laughing as he grabbed her and pulled her onto the bed, her robe off and they made love again in the morning light, last night was forgotten.

“What are we doing today” she asked him as they lay on the bed “I fancy going shopping, we can get some food, cook a nice meal and stay in.  We could have a bbq on the patio?  Do you have a bbq?”  She asked him quizzically and he had to think.

No I don’t think I do” he said “we can get one though”

They got dressed and Nicole sat in the passenger seat as he drove them to the supermarket “I can’t believe we are going to a supermarket, we have a market garden and as much meat as we need on the estate” he laughed but Nicole wasn’t sure why.
