Keep that in mind.”

“You seem to have given this some thought,” Grady said, watching Dave with measuring eyes.

“It’s been on my mind since I found out about the experiment. I think overall, it’s a positive step forward for both our races.” Dave smiled at the warrior, but Mike wasn’t so forgiving.

“Now that you know where we are, we’ll be taking greater precautions,” Mike stepped forward to face the soldier. “You won’t catch us by surprise again.”

There seemed to be a trace of respect in Grady’s eyes as he returned Mike’s gaze. “If it’s any consolation, you two were a great challenge to me. I almost regretted taking you in, but it was my duty. I know you’ll be more vigilant with your mate from now on. But rest assured, you have my word as Prime that this location will never be divulged by me to any Alvian.” Grady put his hand over his heart and bowed slightly. Jaci put one hand on Mike’s forearm, squeezing lightly and he took that to mean that Grady’s actions had some significance to her.

He hoped Grady could be trusted, but he didn’t see they had much choice. If he disappeared, the entire Alvian army would be out searching for him.

“Thank you, Grady Prime.” It was Jaci who acknowledged the warrior’s words with a slight bow of her head. “I and my mates thank you for your discretion and we wish you well.”

“As I do you, Jaci 192.” Grady looked at all three of them for a final moment before turning on his heel and leaving the chamber.

Long minutes later, after the trio had cleaned up and dressed, Sam signaled them from the cave opening.

“He’s gone. Bill and I followed him all the way out to be certain, then Bill went after him and sent me back here to let you know what was going on. BURTIN alerted us when he got in but we were too far away to warn you in time. Then, when we got here and saw him throw down his weapon, Bill held us back, out of sight.”

“Good move,” Mike agreed. “Better that Grady Prime thinks it’s just us down here. He doesn’t need to know about you and Bill.”

Bill moved into their line of sight from the outer tunnel. “Thank you for that.” He nodded at Mike in acknowledgment. “I followed him to his ship. He stowed his gear and took off toward the city. He did not see me.”

“I’m glad,” Jaci said, stepping between the cousins. “I think he will keep his word. He won’t tell anyone about this place. He swore it.”

“I saw that, “Bill agreed. “You must have made quite an impression on him, Jaci. Grady Prime does not give his word lightly.”

David growled and Mike held back, just barely. “We have interacted several times. I know he had a sort of…fondness for me.”

“It’s more than that, Jaci,” Bill said. “He respects you. That is rare between a soldier and a science sector tech.”

“Then that gesture he made…?” Mike asked the leading question.

Bill turned his focus to the cousins. “That gesture is a symbolic promise among soldiers. It is not lightly given. Grady Prime will not divulge the location of this complex to any Alvian. He will take the secret of it to his grave, if necessary.”

Mike whistled between his teeth. Dave just looked grim. Jaci took them both by the hand and led the way inside, leaving Bill and Sam to secure the blast doors behind them.

“I know we owe him for not even trying to capture us this time, but I’m jealous as hell that Grady Prime has a soft spot for my girl,” Michael admitted as he cuddled her in his arms on the soft bed in their quarters.

“Don’t be jealous, Michael.” Jaci smoothed the hair back from his brow as she looked up at him. “He may have wanted me, but I never wanted him. I’ve only ever wanted two men in my whole life and they are both with me now.”

She reached out with her other hand to touch David, reveling in the instant Hum the blessed resonance created. They couldn’t hear its perfection, but it was enough that she could. The Hum was the very real evidence of their compatibility…it was evidence of their love.

Epilogue

He’d seen them together and both heard and seen the evidence of resonance for himself. Grady Prime knew theirs was a union of true mates that would last for all time. He wanted that—or at least the chance of finding that—for himself. It might not happen. He might go mad from the emotion, but it was a chance he had to take.

Somewhere out there, there might just be a woman meant for him. A woman he could resonate with and pledge his heart and life to. A woman who would temper his aggression with her love.

With that oddly comforting thought in mind, Grady Prime placed the skinpatch on his thigh.

The Orionseries

As a novice interpreter aboard the space ship Orion, Calla Fellura is in uncharted territory. Especially when it comes to figuring out how to approach the ship’s sexy navigator, who seems to have no shortage of willing women vying for his attention.

Tryon Jag is an alpha male tyger, one of the few who possess the instincts to guide a ship safely through the deadly Cattarus system. Handsome, wealthy, and of royal blood, Jag controls his universe—and most of the females in it—as easily as he navigates the Orion.

But when Jag unexpectedly undergoes his mating shift on board ship instead of safely on his home planet, he must have a woman or go mad with rage and lust. With an eco-saboteur somewhere aboard, there couldn’t be a worse time for him to lose his mind.

For the sake of duty, Calla forces herself into Jag’s lair. And finds herself blossoming into a true Tyger lily, a woman born to enchant a powerful beast.

The only woman who can save Jag—and the entire crew—from certain annihilation.

Warning: Submitting to a big cat can lead to a tongue-lashing & steamy sex at his command.

frame and graceful curves. Her hair curled riotously about her head as it dried in the warm air, and her skin glowed soft golden tan, a rosy flush on her slanting cheekbones. He saw a red mark from one of his claws on her hip, and frowned. He would have to be more careful with her.

The sight also afforded him a glow of sheer Tyger satisfaction, though. Only a true tyger-mate would allow him to use his claws on her, and even be sexually stimulated by it. He pulled her a little closer, enjoying her soft curves pillowed against his hard muscles. Whoever had sent her to him had made an excellent choice.

He had noticed her at crew lineup that first day of the voyage. She had looked up at him with clear interest, then blushed shyly when he looked back. He had felt a quick surge of desire, but dismissed her as a possible sexual companion for the voyage—he didn’t like the emotional baggage that came with taking a younger woman. They inevitably thought themselves in love, and cried and made demands even as a male’s interest was waning.

But when Calla had offered herself here, he was in no position to refuse. He had to have a woman or go insane with the demands of his body, in thrall to the male moons of Bryght. And he was well pleased with her—she was lovely and she had spirit. Even though she was a Tygean, it would have been frightening to offer herself as the sex-mate of a big male like himself in mating shift. She had even fought him a little, daring his anger.

Her surrender had been sweet as jaguari honey. He purred softly, recalling how she had allowed him every liberty he demanded, and even crawled to him, pouting so prettily, to ride him. She enjoyed being mastered. And that was very, very good, because it enhanced his own ferocious pleasure twofold to have a spirited female surrender to him, and take pleasure in it.

Now that he had her sexually bonded to him he could relax, knowing that she would be within reach, ready whenever his hunger swelled. This was his tenth shift, as he was in his thirties, although it was the first time he had been caught off-planet. Always before he had been able to den up with a willing female and do nothing but mate and sleep and eat. His chosen females had always left with smiles of satiation on their pretty faces, and reluctance in their footsteps. He was sure Calla would be no different.

He stretched lazily, enjoying the heightened cat senses of his shift. He could smell every plant in the arboretum, the water in the pool, every food still in the hamper, and every nuance of her body, from the herbal scent of her shampoo, to the heady musk of her pussy mingled with the tyger-nip oil, and his semen that lingered inside her. There

was nothing like the scent of his come on a favored female, nothing like the scent of her pussy on his fur.

He could also smell the items in her small duffel, which lay discarded nearby. His nostrils flared, enjoying the scent of chataulette, the rich creamy golden confection dear to Tygean adults. It had a slight bitter edge to its sweetness, and was a mild stimulant, but it also seemed to soothe females. Strange, but he had noticed that the females of every planet had a similar substance, from the glowing green chlorogyn of Pangaea, to the chocolate of Earth.

Perhaps she would share some with him later. But now, he sighed. He had a job to do, the one he had signed on for, guiding the Orion to planet Bryght. It was time to communicate with the other crew leaders. The cat in him was still uppermost, and he felt no shame in his current situation. His Tyger needs had come first, now he would do his job.

Bryght had once been isolated by the risks of navigating through its dangerous asteroid belts and past its several moons, all of which had their own gravitational pulls. Now it was a lucrative market for intergalactic trade. Tyger navigators were highly prized. The owners of the big shipping companies courted them, and put up with their quirks. This was one he had certainly not planned on subjecting them to, but it had happened, so everyone must deal with it.

He reached up to his ear, and manipulated the tiny com link button there.

“Captain,” he said quietly. “Commander Jag here.”

The reply was immediate.

“Jag, how are you? And how is the girl?”

“Both fine,” Tryon drawled. “You picked a good mate for me. My thanks.”

“I didn’t have much choice,” the captain replied, an edge to his normally mild voice.

“Neither did I.”

“I suppose not. Commander, we are three and a half days out of the Cattarus system. We’re starting to pick up some stray asteroids. The deflector shields are taking care of them, but we’d all feel more confident if you could resume your duties.”

Unspoken was the fact that if he did not, they would reach the dense asteroid belt, and certainly die there—unless they turned around, and made the long voyage back to Earth. That would be a very expensive decision, and one the captain would make only if he had to.

“I am at your service, Captain,” Tryon said politely. “If you’ll open a passageway to the navigation room, I’ll take over.”

The captain sighed. “You’re going to keep the arboretum to yourself.”

“I need it—I can’t be cooped up in walls all day; it would drive me mad. I’ll be keeping the woman with me, of course.”

“Of course. I, ah, need a visual of her. Commander Mra is worried about her.”

Tryon pulled Calla’s leg a little higher over his cock, and slid his large hand down her ass, to cover her pussy. No one but he would be looking at it from now on.

“Go ahead,” he said. He smiled slightly, knowing that the captain and probably the other crew leaders were now looking at a holographic image of the two of them, lying relaxed, naked and replete in the sylvan glade.

Eat your hearts out, he thought, closing his eyes. A quick cat nap and he would go to work.

He’s waited centuries for her rebirth. Can he persuade her to love again?
