―How do you know I‘m not?‖ she counters.
I don‘t trust her. But if I call the police, and she
does
know where Cam is, there‘s no way she‘s going to tell them.
―Hadley tied me up,‖ she says, ―And now she has Cam.‖
She gives me a look, like
„If she did this to me, what
else do you think she"s
capable of?"
I look at the white butterfly, not sure what to do. She flutters down from the window ledge, and lands on a big rock that‘s pushed up against the house. I pick it up, feeling the weight of it in my hand. The butterfly flutters through the air, landing on my shoulder.
I pull my arm back and throw the rock at the basement window as hard as I can.
It shatters into a million pieces. I take a second to col ect my thoughts.
And then I get down on the ground and go in after her….
