“He’ll never see me as anything more than a ‘poofter’,” Caine said.
“That only proves what a fool he is,” Macklin replied. “What a fool I nearly was.”
“You weren’t a fool,” Caine insisted. “Just scared, and that’s all in the past. Neil may say I’m their poofter, but I’m really all yours.”
Macklin smiled, if a tad uncomfortably. “Don’t tell Taylor that. He won’t survive the news.”
Caine laughed and squeezed Macklin’s hand before going back inside. He’d have to apologize for his choice of words later, but since that would inevitably lead to makeup sex, he’d wait to do that until they were alone in their bedroom—the big bedroom—to mention it.
Macklin shook his head and followed Caine inside.
