“Good afternoon,” she said. She stood and extended her hand.

The receptionist nodded to him, left,
and closed the door.

“Please have a seat,” said Sadie.

Kyle pulled up a chair in front of her desk and sat while placing the clipboard on his lap.

“I believe you’re interested in becoming a client of Perfect Pairing.”

“Definitely
,
and here’s the
name of the
woman I want to be paired with.”

He leaned across the desk and slid the clipboard toward her.

Sadie looked at it and then at him.
Had he seen a grin on her face?

“And how
do you k
now
that
this young lady is a client?
After all, all our files are
very
confidential
.

Kyle pulled out the business card. “The lady dropped this abo
ut ten minutes ago when she exited
the elevator
.
I’m gu
essing she was here signing up for your services.”

“And you can’t just ask her out?” Sadie raised one eyebrow.

“Nope, it’s sort of complicated
,
and knowing her as I do
,
she’d probably say no to us going on a date.”

“I see, but you’re adamant yo
u want to be paired with he
r
,
an
d not any of our other clients?”

Was she grinning again?

“Oh yea
h
, only
Evie Winters
will do
.”

Sadie l
ifted a pen and made some notes on his application form.

“Any particular pick of
locations for your first date?”

“Somewhere romantic. In fact, how about
dinner at Ghiderelli

s
restaurant?”

He hoped Evie w
ould see the irony in his choose
of venues. He couldn’t wait to see the look on her face. He just hoped another martini wasn’t coming his way
,
but he’d move heaven and earth to get just one date with her.

Chapter Six

Evie opened the package with her name on it. There was no return address
,
so she was intrigued. She snipped at the tape and
pulled aw
ay the paper
. Inside sat a box bearing Renee’s
lingerie shop
’s
logo splashed acr
oss the top. Now she got a clearer idea of what was
inside the box and who it was
from.
She felt herself blush from her neck upwards as she lifted the lid and saw not only a new p
air of red lace panties
but a matching bra,
stockings
,
and a garter belt
,
too
.

An envelo
pe bearing her name
sat on top of them.
She lifted it up and ran her finger along the fold to open it. Evie
pulled
out a card and began reading.

Evie,

Once again
sorry about ripping your underwear
,
but hope this gift package more than makes up for ruining them. Maybe next time y
ou have a
date you can wear this
matching set
.

Kyle

She got flushed
yet
again thinking about what had happened in t
he elevator. She wasn’t usually that impulsive
. Never
before had she ever
given into her sexual ur
ges so quickly and easily. And
she’d
never
resorted to
sex in a public place before. She only hoped the security
camera had shut down at the same time as the elevator
. Any day she was expecting to see her and Kyle doing
t
he wild thing on
YouTube.

Evie didn’t regret it though. Kyle had given her a
n off the charts orgasm that would make any
wom
a
n
envious
, and
,
yes, want more.
She slapped the card
a few times
onto her open palm.
Wear this
on a date. Was he psychic or what?
Perfect Pairing had called that
morning and told her they’d found her
a match
,
and she’d be going on her first date that evening. A limo
,
which was part of the service
,
would be by to pick her up and take her to the secret location where her perfectly chosen date would be waiting.

She lifted out the garter belt and fing
ered the tiny r
ed bows on the top. She’d worn a garter belt just once and that had been when she’d been her cousin’s bridesmaid. She’d liked the feel of them
against her skin
,
so hey, why not wear them tonight? Who
knows
?
I might get lucky like I did in the elevator
.

Kyle ordered a mineral water
while he waited for Evie at the restaurant. He’d asked that his limo pick him up ahead of hers because he wanted to
be
there before she arrived. He wondered if she’d be wearing
the underwear he’d sent her that
morning
.
Guess he’d just
have to wait and see.
That was if their date concluded how he hoped it would. He’d asked Sadie to request a private room
at the restaurant
so no one spotted them dining
there and alerted
the media
He wanted to get to know Evie without having photographers hound them
. He had to say he was more than impresse
d at the service and every little
detail Perfect Pairing supplied. Sadie had even made sure the red rose he’d ordered was waiting for him. He lifted it and took in its scent.

Kyle
put it back on the table
when he heard the door opening. His heart beat double time
,
and for some strange reason his legs turned wobbly as he saw the
maître’d
holding open the door and Evie stepping inside the private room.

She stopped in her tracks when she saw him. He stood, hoping he wouldn’t need to run after her.
Fortunately
,
Evie continued
walking toward him as the maitre’d
shut the door.

Kyle stood. “Surprised?” he asked.

“Shocked would be a better word. I suppose you’re going to gloat that I res
orted to using a
matchmaking service. I mean if this is what this is all about. Setting me up. Maybe having a secret camera in the salt or pepper shaker.”

He held up his hands, palms flat facing her.

“It’s for real
,
Evie
.
T
rust
me on this one.”

He signaled for her to sit but not before he
rushed around to the other side of the table and
held the back of her jacket as she slipped it off her shoulders.

Wow, tonight she wore a black dress that was a little on the tight side but all the more alluring. She had curves
,
and
the dress
clung to her waist and hips. Her black pumps had tiny
bows on their backs.
Very sexy
.

“Something wrong?” she asked.

H
e realized he’d been staring,
hadn
’t budged
,
and was still
hovering
at the back of her chair.

“Nope, just thinking how nice you look.”

“Thank you.”

He held
the chair
,
and she sat. He reached across the table
and presented the rose to her.

She took it and
fingered
its petals.

“I have to say I’m impressed with all this,” said Evie. “Did you think of it
,
or was it all Perfect Pairings

doing?”

“A little of both
,” he said sitting down.

“And you just happened to be a client of theirs
,
too.”

He raised h
is eyebrows. He hoped this new relationship with her was going somewhere
,
so he’d be up front about everything and not lie.

“I joined after
I found the business card you dropped in the elevator
.

“I could have been doing an interview with them.”

“I took a gamble.”

“And just happened to get paired with me.”

He shook his hea
d. “I requested that I be matched
with you.”

“Sort of cheating
,
don’t you thin
k? I mean you’re probably not my
perfect mate.”

“I’d have to disagree with you on that one.”

“Surprise, surprise. Us not agreeing about something.”

“I thought if we went on a
few dates, got to know one another, we’d find out just how compatible we really are.”
