Chapter 1

GABBI stopped the car in the middle of a clogging in South Head Road, near the district of called Sydney Elizabeth Bay. Miro' their nervous clock and rythmically struck the fingers in the steering wheel.

In one hour it had to shower, to wash the hair, to dry it and to comb it, to make up themselves, to get dressed and to receive to the guests to the supper. Lengthy remaining ten minutes in the middle of the traffic did not comprise of its plans. It watched his painted and neat hands: it had not had lunch to go to the manicure. It had taken an apple in average afternoon, which could not consider a suitable substitute of a food. The car of ahead began to move.

It followed it, but when changing the traffic light had to return to step on the brake. To that step, it would cost two to him or three attempts to pass the intersection, it thought. It must have marched before the office not to see itself affected by the hour of more traffic. But his cabezonería had not allowed it.

Like she was the daughter of James Stanton, did not need to him to work. Their properties, an extensive portfolio of actions and an appreciable annual rent located it in the list of rich young women of Sydney. In addition, she was the wife of Benedict Nicols, and its position of advisory assistant of direction of the Companies Stanton-Nicols was sight often as a nepotism sample.

Gabbi tightened the accelerator with satisfaction, but it had to return to stop. The movable telephone sounded. She answered automatically.

" Gabrielle.

There was a single person who refused to use her diminutivo: Mónica.

" you are leading? " I am retained " it answered, asking itself which would be the reason for the call of his madrastra.

Mónica never called to greet it simply.

" Annaliese comes late this.

It would matter to you that it went to have supper tonight with us? The years last in a boarding school of an elite school made it answer courteously.

" No, absolutely.

We will be enchanted from which it comes.

" Thanks, wanted.

The voice of Monique sounded smooth when it hung.

Wonderful, one said, while it called to Marie to say to him that it put another plate in the table.

It sighed.

It hoped that the fact that they were thirteen people was not bad luck in any sense, thought after hanging.

The traffic began to move.

James Stanton had married ten years ago with one divorced of twenty-nine years with a small daughter and that had filled it of joy.

Monique was very sociable, just as he, and an exceptional host.

The pain was that the affection of Monique had not arrived until the daughter of its husband.

It had been then fifteen years old, and had felt the superficiality of his madrastra.

One had spent six months asking themselves why, until a friend had said something about the characteristics of a disfuncional relation from the psychological point of view.

Like answer, Gabbi had decided to emphasize in everything what did.

Since consequence had gained sport championships, the race with an insurmountable academic file in Administration of Companies had finished.

It had studied languages, and it had spent a year in Paris and another one in Tokyo before returning to Sydney to work for a rival company.

Soon one had appeared to the position in Stanton-Nicols, and it had gained it, thanks to his experience and efficiency.

Thinking about the past had a certain danger, thought Gabbi, while it put in a street of an exclusive district, full of houses luxurious that hid behind high walls, and adorned with leafy trees.

After crossing about one hundred meters, it stopped.

It tightened a remote control and the forged iron doors were opened so that it happened.

A way in zigzag took it until a house of Mediterranean style of two floors, nailed in a beautiful landscape, far from the highway.

They had been four parcels with four houses acquired by Conrad Nicols, that had been demolished to give rise to a house of thousands of dollars with magnificent views of the port.

Ten years later, rooms for guests and garages for seven cars had been added, remodelado the kitchen and roof terraces and balconies.

The gardens had sport sources, tracks, pools of adornment and lands inspired by the English field, with shrubs and trees.

Pain was one that Conrad and Diandra Nicols had had a car accident weeks after finished the adjustments.

Nevertheless, Conrad had obtained after died what it had not obtained in his last ten years of life: his son and heir had returned from America and had taken the reins from Stanton-Nicols.

Gabbi put the car between the Jaguar of Benedict and a black Bentley.

It was not the car that Benedict used every day to go to the city.

The doors of the garage were closed.

Gabbi gathered its briefcase of the seat of back and left the car in the direction of a lateral door where it touched bellboys, activating with them the security system that gave entrance to the house.

Although the word mansion was more suitable to define it, thought Gabbi.

It called by the inner telephone to the kitchen.

" Hello, Marie.

He is everything under control? The twenty years of work to the service of the Nicols family allowed him to answer with a drowned giggle and: " Without problems.

" Thanks " Gabbi, thanked for, before running by the corridor towards stairs snail answered that raised the plant of above.

Marie would be putting the last ones I touch to the supper of three plates that had prepared.

His husband, Serg, would be proving the temperature of the wines that Benedict had chosen so that they used, and Sophie, the charwoman per hours, would be finishing the last ones I touch in the dining room.

Everything what had to make era to go down, perfectly neat, when Serg took care of the timbre of the door and made happen to first from its guests to the hall, in about forty minutes or something less.

The mother of Benedict had chosen moqueta of pale colors and smooth painting in the walls, to contrast with the mahogany furniture.

In the dormitories, the painting of the walls matched with the curtains and edredones.

Each room was different.

The main dormitory was located in the wing this of the house.

It had acristaladas doors that they gave to two balconies from which were beautiful views of the port.

During the day they were panoramic views, and at night lights spectacle of and intermittent neon in the distance were transformed into a magical.

Gabbi took off the shoes, the jewels and the clothes and went to a room almost as great as the dormitory.

It was a marble bath luxuriously decorated color ivory with an enormous bathtub and a compartment with two showers.

Ten minutes later Gabbi it left the bath with a towel surrounding his thin body and another one as a turban in the head.

" Goes all good, Gabbi? " the jacket asked to Benedict, taking off and becoming loose the necktie.

Benedict had a hard…

and muscular body and a face whose factions denoted the origin Andalusian of their ancestros.

He had the black eyes and an intense glance that never dulcificaba neither before a man nor a woman.

" What happens with "Hello, affection, I am in house"? " she joked.

" Followed of a welcome kiss? " he joked, taking off the shirt and opening the rack of the trousers.

It felt that its breathing was accelerated, that felt a knot in the stomach, and its body was attracted by that presence.

But he was all physicist.

Gabbi put a silk dressing gown.

It was not more than the attraction of that powerful masculinidad, thought.

The towel took off and the hair was dried.

It was distracted when seeing naked Benedict walking towards the shower.

The walls were covered with mirrors; and its body was reflected.

It was a formed affluent body; of very attractive masculine forms.

It followed it with the glance.

Soon, the crystal doors were closed after him.

Gabbi cepilló the hair with unnecessary force, sadness and rages sudden.

A year ago, two months and three weeks since they had married, and not yet it could control the effect that it caused in her in the bed or outside her.

It still had the humid hair.

Its ash-gray blond color seemed darker, emphasizing its clear complexion and its blue eyes.

With expert movements the hair took shelter.

Soon, it began to make up itself.

Minutes later, it heard that it let sound the water.

It had to deliver an attack to concentrate themselves in the line of the eye and not to watch when Benedict left the marble pedestal and began to shave the beard of a day.

" you have been badly? " Benedict asked.

Gabbi stopped its movements a little while.

" Why it questions? " You have very expressive eyes " Benedict commented while the hand went through the cheek.

Gabbi watched it after the mirror.

" Annaliese is going to come to have supper.

She is a guest of last moment.

Benedict stopped the machine to shave and stretched the hand until the bottle of colony.

" That bothers to you? " I am able to hold to me and to assassinate the monsters that I take inside.

" There will be verbal swords in the dessert? " Benedict with sardonic humor said.

One knew that Annaliese was incapable to lose an opportunity, and Gabbi knew that that night would not be an exception.

" I will try to be civilized.

Benedict watched the curves of the thin body of Gabbi.

Soon he watched it, he smiled and he said: " the objective is to win another battle in a war that continues? " has presented/displayed You battle somebody sometimes, Benedict? " Gabbi left the maquillaje in the drawer of its cosmetics and bar of lips was applied.

It did not answer.

It was not necessary that said that he was a man feared and respected by his colleagues, and who nobody took the hair him.

Gabbi put one narrow long skirt of black silk and one blouse escotada without sleeves.

It completed his atuendo with heel shoes, a pendant with a diamond in pear form and slopes to game.

Soon one watched the mirror and later perfume was put Him Must de Cartier.

" You are ready? Gabbi heard its voice and it watched it.

That image of Benedict almost cleared the breath to him.

Benedict had a special force, something almost animal, that the elegant clothes as soon as she neutralized.

He was something irresistible for almost any woman.

They were watched a little while.

She envied that control to him, and she was wondered what thing could make to it lose it.

" Yes, I am ready " she smiled and she preceded it when leaving the room.

The main stairs, from marble, arrived at the ground floor covered partially by a carpet.

The grounds were of marble and gave to luminosity and sensation from amplitude to the lobby from entrance to the building.

The walls were painted of color ivory, whose uniformity was interrupted by upholstered doors of wood, objects of art, and some display cabinets.

It sounded the timbre when Gabbi put the foot in the last step of the stairs.

" It is hour of which the spectacle begins " Gabbi when seeing Serg murmured to walk towards the front doors.

" the cynicism well you do not have left " Benedict said.

She watched it with pride and she said to him: " I promise to You that I will behave well " he felt that its pulse was accelerated.

" I am safe…

" he said.

Those words caused a chill in the skin of Gabbi.

" Charles! Andrea! " Benedict exclaimed when Serg announced the first guests ".

You come to the hall, I will serve a glass to you.

The rest of the guests arrived at the few minutes, and Gabbi represented its paper of host perfectly, smiling all along, and hoping that Monique and Annaliese arrived accompanied by their father.

To Monique it liked to make an entrance triunfal, and its arrival used to be carefully studied and to happen at the most opportune moment so that it caused a great impact.

It did not use to arrive late excessively, but the time of arrival it was to the limit of socially accepted.

The announcement of Serg agreed with the expectations of Gabbi.

It asked excuses the guests with whom it was talking and went to greet his father.

" James " the cheek of the man with the lips grazed and accepted the firm squeeze in its shoulder like answer.
