“Be brave if you want to bitch. You just don’t know how badly I want to see if that skull is bulletproof.” I kept my strap aimed at her as I used my free hand to start the car and shift into drive.

“You’re just mad because yo man chose me. You remember how it was when we was strippin’. Muthafuckas always sweated me just a little bit harder.”

I looked over at the bitch as if she’d lost her mind. The bitch must’ve had a death wish, jackin’ at me like that. I pulled into the first alley I saw.

“Get yo ass out tramp,” I said as I popped the trunk. Kim K. looked at me like she knew she’d gone too far. I took the keys out of the ignition and marched around and pulled open the door.

“Don’t get scared now bitch,” I said with my strap tucked into the pocket of my Pelle Pelle jacket and pointed at her face.

I ripped the Gucci bag out of her hand after she climbed out.

“Ain’t no secret where you’re goin’.” I nodded towards the trunk.

The bitch actually had the nerve to plead with her eyes, as if we were still friends and I might have some remorse. I almost laughed in her face and told her that there ain’t no more love ho.

“You gonna make me catch a body in this alley.” I took one aggressive step towards her and that bitch hurried to the trunk and practically dove in. I slammed it shut before doing the same to the passenger side door.

When I climbed back in, I purposely turned up Dej Loaf’s
Ain’t No Ho In My Blood
. I giggled as i went through her Gucci bag. I figured I’d let the bitch ride to the beat. I pulled off once I found her Galaxy Note. I startled an old white man working in his garden when I swerved out of the alley with the speakers pumping the hottest new chick in the rap game. I was feeling bold and reckless and like I really didn’t give a fuck at the moment. The streets will do that to you, especially when everything and everybody seems to be working against you.

My seat belt was on, the music was playing real low, and both of my hands were on the steering wheel, about time I made it to Uptown. There were too many cop cars patrolling the hood for me to be banging and swerving, no matter how reckless and bold I felt. Once I backed the Charger into an abandoned garage, I practically dragged Kim K.’s ass out of the trunk and shoved her into the passenger side. After I parked in the back of Meka’s building I warned the bitch that I would pop her right in that big ole ass if she got outside the guidelines.

The apartment above Meka’s shop was old, dusty, and had one of those moldy smells to it. The wooden floors and beige walls were both scratched and dull as if they hadn’t been touched since the place was built. There was a lot of work that would’ve needed to be done before I would’ve considered living there. But it was perfect for what I was on at the moment. I shoved Kim K. onto the piss stained mattress in the corner.

“I’d rather sit on the flo,” Kim K. said, looking at the mattress as if she was disgusted.

“Don’t play the role just because Ivan has been throwin’ a couple of dollars at you. You’re still nuthin but white trash.”

I held my strap in my right hand as I scrolled through her phone with my left. The traffic flying by down below on Center Street was making the windows rattle. The evening wind had the flimsy ass wooden door that led to the small balcony flapping like a flag. A muthafucka would’ve lost their mind trying to get some sleep in that crib.

“I’ma about to find out how much yo trick ass is worth to that nigga,” I said as I found his number in her Galaxy Note.

“Since he won’t recognize the number, I better hit him from my phone.” I looked over at Kim K. and smirked. “He probably won’t answer yo shit because he’s with another bitch.” I almost fell out laughing when her mouth dropped open.

The bitch tried to get her swag back. She shook her head and whipped her long ponytail to the side. “Stop tryin to act like you still in the loop Phat Kat. My man don’t fuck with you anymore. I thought he made that clear down in Vegas.”

My nostrils flared and I clenched my teeth as I aimed the strap at her dome. The bitch instinctively ducked down and threw her arms up.

“Keep jackin’ bitch or Ivan will be payin me for a corpse.”

I kept the strap aimed at her as I dialed Ivan’s new cell number. While I waited for him to answer, I wondered if they had matching phones like we used to. I wondered if their numbers were practically the same except the last digit. Similar to the way ours used to be. The bitch had everything else of importance that used to belong to me. I at least wanted some of the little things to always be mine. Ivan’s phone went to voicemail after five rings. I immediately pressed send and listened to his phone ring again. My blood was boiling, knowing that he was too busy blowing my cash on another bitch.

I made sure to keep my distance from the windows, where there were no blinds or curtains to hide me from all of the activity on Center Street. My mind was set on killing Kim K.’s ass if this nigga didn’t answer the phone. I would just have to find another way to get to Ivan and the cash. I was gritting my teeth and tapping my foot and starting to see red. I was staring at that bitch Kim K. like a snake would stare at a mouse dropped in its tank. When Ivan answered the phone, I didn’t notice at first because he didn’t say a word. It was his breathing that caught my attention and made me jump a little.

“Ivan?” Kim K. cautiously looked up from the mattress. I lowered the strip but still kept my eye on the bitch. “You know who the fuck this is nigga.”

There was nothing but breathing for a few more moments before he finally spoke. “Is Kim K. dead?”

“She will be nigga if you don’t meet me somewhere with five hundred bands.” He went silent again. “What’s this white bitch worth to you?” His ass was still holding the phone breathing. “You went out like a typical nigga from the slums. Once you finally felt you made it, you dropped the black chick who helped you get there for Snow White.”

“I’ll hit you back once I get rid of my company,” he said, sounding as if his wheels were turning as he spoke.

“I trust you’ll do that because you know not to call my bluff.”

He laughed. “I’ll let you know where we’ll meet when I hit you back.” He ended the call the second the last word was out of his mouth.

I stared at Kim K. like I was the grim reaper as I tucked my iPhone into the same pocket with her phone. I couldn’t wait until I put a bullet into her forehead. It was only going to make it sweeter to have Ivan there to watch her execution. That would come right before I put a bullet in his dome. I leaned against the wall with my arms folded. The nine milli was still firmly in my hand and my eyes never left Kim K. Ivan wasn’t a stupid nigga by far. I didn’t expect him to meet me anywhere with 500 bands. He would call back and offer me some chump change because he knew that agreeing to my terms would only make me feel suspicious. His real plans were to kill me when we met up.

He must’ve forgot that for six years I ran the street with him, lived under the same roof and washed his dirty draws. I knew how he got down and I was going to have one hell of a surprise for that ass when we did meet up.

“Stand up bitch,” I commanded Kim K. She stopped rocking herself on the mattress and slowly looked up. “You need some help? Get yo punk ass up.” I aimed the nine milli and that bitch shot to her feet. I swear that muthafucka had magical powers sometimes.

“How long did you fuck my nigga behind my back?” I took a couple of steps in her direction with the strap at my side.

Kim K. shook her head. “I don’t remember.”

“Oh it was that long ago, huh bitch?” Kim K. shook her head again. “Was it after that first lick you hit with us? Or were you plottin the night I met him outside of the Back Leopard? You talked about the nigga like you were his number one fan. Remember that bitch?”

We stood about ten feet apart, staring into each other’s eyes, with our arms folded. The big difference was that I was holding the nine milli with a silencer screwed on the end of the barrel. I was able to rock a muthafucka to sleep without a sound. But Kim K. knew that I wouldn’t kill her unless I really had to. My temper initially had her shook up. She understood how dangerous I was with a strap in my hand. But she also understood how much I wanted that cash. I could see it in the defiant way she was staring me down. The bitch was gaining her swag back. She was confident that Ivan was going to have a trap ready for my ass, and they would finally be able to finish what they started in Vegas.

Chapter 11

I marched over and cocked my hand back as far as I could and tried to slap the skin off of the bitch’s face. The bitch damn near spun completely around before she crumpled to her knees.

“Look at me bitch!” I demanded. She had the same hatred in her eyes that I had in mine after she put her hands on me down in Vegas. I gave the bitch credit for having a little heart. Then I slapped the bitch senseless again.

This time she fell back against the wall and dropped on her ass. But she was still staring up at me like
Bitch What?
I stood over her with my arms folded as I ice grilled her back. I was cool with seeing my hand prints on the bitch’s face. I didn’t give a fuck about her not being intimidated.

“Don’t act like I never loved you like a sistah,” Kim K. said with her chest heaving and her eyeliner all sweated out.

“Bitch, what the fuck does that matter at this point? You tried to kill me. Like taking my man wasn’t enough.”

“I wanted to just leave yo ass drugged up in Vegas!” she shouted.

“Lower yo muthafuckin voice,” I said with my teeth clenched and the nine milli aimed at her forehead.

She closed her eyes and swallowed as a semi-truck rumbled by on Center Street and shook the windows like we were in the middle of an earthquake.

“I didn’t wanna come back here.”

“Bitch stop tryin’ to turn yourself into the victim.” I pressed the tip of the silencer against her forehead. My hand got to trembling. But I backed off to the opposite wall. I had to get what belonged to me first before I blew the bitch’s brains out. I crossed my arms and just mugged her white ass.

“I’m not tryin to make you feel sorry for me. I’m just tryin’ to explain how things went down.” She damn near sounded as if she was on the verge of tears.

“Well then bitch get to explaining because you’re goin’ back in the trunk once I get this call from Ivan.”

“He wouldn’t even consider goin’ anywhere else. He felt you had to die. because he knew you wouldn’t stop until either we or you were buried six feet deep,” she claimed.

“Bitch you knew that shit too!” I blurted out with tears starting to form. I was a little emotional from listening to how my man and my best friend were plotting behind my back. But they were my enemies now and neither of them would get the pleasure of seeing me break down. I willed them muthafuckin tears away and kept on mugging her.

“You still ain’t told me when you started fuckin’ Ivan,” I said in a little calmer tone. But you could still hear the edge in my voice.

“I knew what the hell I was doing from day one, but you know how it is when Ivan gets inside of yo head. He had a bitch feelin like she was hooked on dope. I found myself cravin’ that feeling 24/7. Until I couldn’t imagine myself livin without it. Shit, after a while I was willin to do anything to keep it in my life. Ivan is a muthafuckin drug that you never get out of yo system.”

I was sick to my stomach and pissed at the same god damn time. Kim K. must’ve seen something in my face because she finally spit out what I wanted to know from the jump.

“Ivan came into the Black Leopard one night and told me we need to chop it up. He was waitin outside in the Vette when I got off. He told me about da lick at the sports bar in Whitefish Bay and what he needed me to do. Once I told him I was game, he said he wanted to know if I could keep my mouth shut. He pulled his dick out and told me to show him what my head game was like. After I was finished he wanted to test da pussy out. So I hopped on top of that muthafucka and put my thang down. He kicked me out of the Vette once he got his nut. He said that if I didn’t run my mouth to you, I would have the potential to be a trustworthy bitch.”

I wanted to run across that small living room floor to spit, slap, and kick the bitch in the face. It wasn’t so much what her dirty ass said that was like a blow to the gut, it was more how her punk ass said it that made the words sting so bad. The bitch told the story as if she never even contemplated not betraying my trust. I took it as if the bitch had been waiting on her chance to get next to my nigga and when the opportunity presented itself, she hopped on his dick.

Ivan’s call came in and saved her life for a little bit longer.

“Did you have to think about whether this bitch was worth the cash?”

He laughed. “I’m surprised you haven’t killed her yet.”

“Is that what you were hoping for?” I asked, seriously.

He laughed again. “You really want this cash, don’t you?”

The nigga’s arrogance and calm demeanor was starting to piss me off. I began to pace back and forth.

“Nigga if it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t have any of that muthafuckin money. Now pay up or the bitch dies.”

He laughed again and I started pacing a little faster. “You think you deserve five hundred g’s? Just because you sucked a couple of niggas off?” he laughed again. “I should’ve just had a Vegas hooker do it for a couple of hundred bucks.” He laughed. “You see this is why we had to break up. Yo ass just became too got damn expensive.” He laughed harder than all of the other times.

He was playing with me and I knew it. I kept pacing as I tried to keep my cool.

“Give me my bread nigga. I’m tired of lookin at this white bitch. Now are you goin to pay for her life or not?”

He laughed. “No bitch is worth that many g’s. I’ll give you fifty. Twenty-five for Kim K. and Twenty-five for that fire ass head you gave them country niggas.”

I stopped in front of the flimsy ass wooden door that opened up to a balcony. I knew this nigga was going to pull this but his head games had me steaming, I wasn’t thinking straight and I didn’t realize that I hadn’t been keeping an eye on Kim K. until she tackled me through that flimsy ass wooden door and onto the balcony. I dropped the nine milli and both of our cell phones slipped out of my jacket pocket.

The white wooden balcony creaked and popped as if it was just as old and flimsy as the door. We both wrestled and strained and grunted, fighting to position ourselves on top. I yanked that bitch’s long ponytail down and pushed up on her chin. Then I swung my leg over her waist and slowly maneuvered on top of her. But before I could do any damage she struck me in the temple twice with the palm of her hand. I rolled off of her in a daze. We both made it to our feet at the same time and started throwing wild punches, scratching, yanking and everything else that goes down in a ghetto brawl. The sound of the squad car’s siren caught our attention. The po-pos dipped out of the Center Street traffic and parked across the street from where we were standing.

“You two! Stay right there!” the darkest of the two cops yelled out as him and his partner waited for a break in traffic to cross Center Street.

I shoved Kim K.’s ass out of my way, scooped up my nine milli and iPhone, and ran over the creaky wooden floors in the apartment trying not to go into panic mode. I ran down the staircase wondering if the po-pos had figured out the only way into the building was through the back unless Meka had her shop open. Which I told her not to do, just in case something went wrong I wanted everything to fall on me. I was a young street bitch who played the game by the old school street rule: Carry Your Own Weight.

When I busted through the back door and into the alley, I thought I was in the clear for a few moments, until the same two cops came running around the corner and into the alley, yelling for me to stop. I did the exact opposite by running even faster. There was no way I was going to let those pigs catch me in my own hood that I knew like the back of my hand. Throw in the fact I was madder than a muthafucka that there was going to be a delay in killing Ivan and Kim K. and being able to get my hands on the cash.

I could’ve shot the bitch on my way out of the apartment. But I would’ve been running from a lot more serious charges than carrying a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct and fleeing from the police. When I made it out of the alley I raced across Forty-Ninth Street without looking and almost got hit by an old ass Jeep Cherokee with tint

On the windows damn near darker than its black paint. I stiff armed the hood and kept on running. Most of the streets in Uptown were narrow one-ways that cats treated like a race track. It had cost more than a few shorties in the hood their lives.

I cut through a gangway that separated two houses and then turned into another alley after I made it through the backyard. The po-pos were still on my ass but they had fell farther behind. Both of them had looked to be in their mid-thirties with guts made of beer. Those pigs didn’t have a chance against a young street bitch who’d been running from the law her entire life. Don’t get it twisted, my lungs were on fire from all of the weed smoke, but my fear of a jail cell was more than enough to fight through that shit.

I found the abandoned garage on my left hand side in the middle of the alley that served all types of purposes in our hood. It was in the back of a boarded up house. The po-pos caught on to what the d-boys, smokers, homeless, and horny ass teenagers in the hood were using abandoned cribs for. So muthafuckas started taking the action out back. And when I went in the side door of the garage I was greeted by the different stanking ass odors they left behind. It didn’t help that I was gasping for air like a muthafucka who needed their asthma pump. I was wheezing and coughing so bad I had to cover my mouth with both hands when I heard the cops jog past the garage.

“Where the hell did she go?” I heard one cop ask as he was sucking for air.

They both were huffing and puffing when they stopped what sounded like a couple of garages away from the one I was hiding in.

“I have no freakin’ idea,” the other cop said as they began to walk and search.

I breathed in and out as deeply as I could a few times. I was trying to prepare my lungs for more running. I couldn’t take the chance of them doubling back once they got to the end of the alley. They sounded far enough away when I peeked out of the garage door. It’s hard to be quiet when you’re tired, but I managed when I snuck out and looked around the peeling white paint of the garage next to the one I’d been hiding in. The po-pos were standing at the end of the alley still trying to catch their breath. The black ass one was speaking into his walkie talkie, probably requesting backup. I had to get the hell out of there before they were able to box me in.

I made sure the pockets on my Pelle Pelle varsity jacket were still clasped shut. The last thing a bitch needed was for my iPhone or nine milli to fall out. I was going to need both along the way. Then I did the dumbest shit in the world. The type of dumb shit actors do in scary movies when they have the chance to get away. They always have to look one more time before running in the opposite direction. Well, I decided to peek around the cracked and chipped paint of that garage one more time and the white cop with a beard like a Viking saw me this time.

“I have a visual! She has a gun!” That lying muthafucka drew his Glock and fired twice in my direction. I took off running, thinking that if these dirty ass pigs gun me down from behind it will end up being ruled a justified homicide. All because the pig guessed right about me having a strap.

I ran through what was left of the back yard behind the abandoned crib. There was nothing but dirt where the grass used to be and rotten crab apples all over the ground. I cut through the gangway, confident those dirty ass pigs didn’t have the wind to keep up. I just had to worry about running into the backup they called in.

Niggas was hanging out on porches and barbecuing. Shorties were playing cans and cats were playing the block. Muthafuckas stayed out in the hood when the weather was decent. Some of them clapped and cheered me on when I ran across Forty-Ninth Street. They saw me when I ran through their block the first time and was happy to see I hadn’t been caught yet. The bad guy was the good guy in the ghetto. My intention was to make it to the abandoned garage where I parked the Charger. But I saw the po-pos questioning Kim K. in the back of the building.

I screamed under my breath as I cut to my right on Forty-Ninth instead. I remembered what Ivan taught me about staying off the sidewalk when running from the po-pos.
Run through the yards. Especially when people are out. They’ll be more hesitant to shoot.
I looked back and saw the two dirty pigs who had been chasing me finally make it through the gangway, on the other side of the street. Them muthafuckas had their Glocks drawn and were ready to light a bitch up. They yelled for me to freeze and damn near made the whole block scatter for cover. I kept running through the small front yards, trying to blend in with everybody else.

I didn’t know how much longer I could keep the athletic shit up. I’d done pretty good for a bitch who had smoked that bag since I was eleven. But I was tired than a muthafucka. My legs were starting to feel like I was running under water and if I didn’t find a place to hide or some kind of transportation I was going to get caught. So when I saw Toni waving at me from a gangway after I’d run across Clarke Street, I wanted to do the Shamurda Dance right there in the middle of the block.

Yet, I played it cool and ran a few more houses down and cut through the gangway to throw the po-pos off. When I came back around through the alley, Toni was waiting for me in her backyard. Her long dreads would’ve made 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne jealous. She was rocking a V-neck white t-shirt, True Religion jeans that she had cuffed over her white high top Air Force Ones. Her gold Cartier frames with the wide circular lenses made her eyes look big and excited.
