“Gavin!” Amy screamed.

“Get this fucking thing off!” Gavin roared.

Gavin pulled Amy up and tore the neckline.

“Gavin! What are you doing?”

“Damn it, honey! I can’t wait!”

Gavin was on his knees over Amy. He reached down and flipped her over, propping her up onto her hands and knees. He pulled the torn garment from her and discarded it. He was as hard as a railroad spike. There she was, on her hands and knees, and he knew if he didn’t get some control he was about to fuck her senseless and probably scare the shit out of her. He had to slow down. He ran his hands over her back and tried to soothe her as well as calm himself.

“Trust me, baby. I’m not going to hurt you,” Gavin said reassuringly.

Gavin kissed Amy’s lower back and she gasped. He ran his hands over her back and around her ribs, maintaining his mouth on her lower back. He ran his hands over the soft skin of her ribs again and felt her shiver. He reached around and started fondling her breasts, tweaking her nipples. He ran his hands along her ribs and down her hips, taking the thong with him. She was so wet and ready. He sank a finger into her pussy, and she shuddered.

“Amy, honey, do you want me?” Gavin asked.

Amy didn’t answer right away, which usually irritated him. This time Gavin had to let her mind get around the fact that even though he had been aggressive with her, he would never hurt her. She turned around and looked at him. He reached up and pushed her hair to one side so she could see him. He looked into her eyes as he kissed her lower back. He ran his hands over body.

“Trust me, baby. I love you and I won’t hurt you,” Gavin whispered.

Amy closed her eyes. “I trust you.”

Gavin knelt behind Amy, continuing to tenderly rub her back. He felt her relax. He rubbed his cock against her wetness and slowly slid inside her. It was agonizing for him to go as slow as he did because he wanted nothing more than to impale himself into her. He started a slow, easy rhythm. He heard her moaning and felt his cock lurch, so he increased the tempo of his pumping, reaching around to rub her clit. She threw her head back and cried out at his massaging. He pushed harder and faster, keeping his eyes open so he could look down at her enticing body. As much as he wanted to wait for her, there was no controlling himself. He was about to have one hell of a raging climax. He grabbed her hips and pounded himself into her, crying out her name as he came.

Gavin lowered Amy down and relaxed over her. As exhausted as he was from his adrenaline rush, he knew he had left her hanging, so he slid from her and helped her onto her back. He nuzzled her as he dipped his head down to her sensitive belly. She arched against him as he slipped a finger inside her slick pussy and found her sweet spot.

Gavin rubbed Amy and stroked her from the inside. He kissed and nipped around her belly button. She moaned her sultry cry as he felt her contract around his finger. She arched her back and dug her nails into his shoulder as she reached her end. Gavin pulled Amy close, both sated. He closed his eyes. He could have slept right where they were the rest of the night. She snuggled closer.

“Are you cold, honey?” Gavin asked.

“A little.”

Gavin kissed Amy’s forehead affectionately.

“I liked my present,” Gavin said with a smile.

Amy said nothing for a moment. “I never thought you’d react like that.”

Gavin moved away to get a better look at her. “Did I scare you?”

“A little,” Amy said, looking away.

“I’m sorry, but, honey, you pushed me off the map. That was the hottest thing I’ve ever seen. You looked so sexy doing that to me. I’d love for you to do that again,” Gavin said with a smile as he pulled Amy close again.

“Should I?” Amy asked, uncertain.

“Oh yeah, and I promise I’ll behave next time.”

Amy giggled. “Can we go to bed?”

“Yes,” Gavin said, rising and helping Amy to her feet.

Gavin followed Amy into the bedroom, watching her delectable hips swing in front of him. Climbing into bed, they both fell into a contented sleep.

Gavin woke startled. He didn’t know why. He hadn’t been having one of his nightmares. In fact, since he had started sleeping with Amy, the dreams seemed to disappear. He was fully awake. He listened carefully. Had he heard something? The wind had picked up at some point during the night after they had fallen asleep. He lay still, his sharp, battle-honed senses kicking into high alert.

There

Gavin heard it, this time consciously, a low, creaking sound coming from outside the bedroom.
What the hell is that?
He had pretty much grown accustomed to the house and its quirks. The sound was wrong and out of place.
Something’s wrong
. He couldn’t explain how he knew. He just
knew
. He started to rise, but Amy moved closer to him. The last thing he wanted to do was wake and frighten her. He kissed her shoulder and she relaxed once more.

Gavin put on his sleep pants that always laid at the edge of the bed. He quietly took out his service weapon stowed in Amy’s nightstand. He walked to the bedroom door and paused, taking a peek around the corner. The only lights on in the house were the lights from the Christmas tree. He scanned around the room as best he could and froze. He saw the kitchen door to the garage slowly open.

Gavin managed to maneuver around the entryway and toward one of the openings to the kitchen. The intruder had chosen the opposite way out and into the living room and looked toward Amy’s bedroom. His eyes narrowed as he recognized the intruder. He watched the intruder’s eyes widen as he took in the scene in front the fireplace where Amy’s torn negligee and thong still lay. Silently and quickly, he closed the space between him and the intruder. The wind picked up as he placed the muzzle of his weapon against the back of the intruder’s skull.

“Who the fuck are you? Santa Claus?” Gavin snarled.

The intruder squeaked in terror. Gavin caught a scent. It was urine. He smiled evilly.

“That’s right, motherfucker. You better be scared.”

“What the hell, man! I just wanted to talk to her,” Tim whined.

Gavin shoved the muzzle a little more firmly against the back of Tim’s skull.

“All right, Timmy, let’s go back to the kitchen,
slowly
. You fuck this up and you
won’t
live to regret it,” Gavin whispered in an evil growl.

They made their way slowly back to the kitchen. Gavin switched on the lights.

“Put your hands behind your head and get on your knees,” Gavin ordered.

“Jesus! I’ll leave, just don’t shoot,” Tim whined again as he turned to face Gavin.

Gavin aimed his weapon and Tim threw up his hands. “Do what I said. Get on your fucking knees and put your hands in back of your head,” he snarled.

Tim complied this time without question. Gavin retrieved the handcuffs that he carried in the assault pack that went back and forth to work with him every day. Luckily, he stowed the bag next to the kitchen door so it was within easy reach when he left in the morning.

“You fucked up good this time.” Gavin cuffed Tim.

“I just wanted to talk to her!” Tim wailed.

“Breaking and entering
and
she’s got a restraining order on you. Yup, this might actually mean prison time. You might get a new boyfriend before this is all over with.” Gavin picked up the phone.

Gavin called the station and requested that an officer be sent to the house.

Amy
!” Tim yelled as Gavin ended his call.

Gavin kicked him to the floor and Tim went down, face first. He stepped in the middle of Tim’s back. “You’re getting on my nerves,
boy
,” he said in a menacing voice.

“I want to talk to Amy!” Tim whined.

Gavin put his knee to Tim’s upper back and pressed, constricting the airflow.

“She doesn’t want to talk to you!” Gavin snarled. Tim was fighting for air as he pressed harder. “Stay the fuck away from Amy! She’s told you and now I’m telling you.” He raised his knee slightly, allowing Tim to take a swallow of precious air.

“Here’s the deal. I don’t play nice with the other kids and I don’t share my toys,” Gavin said as he kneeled once more, pressing harder and feeling the air release from Tim’s lungs. “So stay the fuck out of
my
sandbox and quit trying to fuck with
my
favorite plaything. You understand?” he demanded in the same evil growl.

“Gavin?” Amy called from the living room.

“Go back to bed, Amy,” Gavin called.

“What are you doing?” Amy asked, her voice nearing them.

“Pest control. I found a cockroach.” Gavin rose off of Tim.

“What?” Amy exclaimed as she walked into the kitchen.

It was a good thing Gavin had Tim cuffed. Amy looking sleepy, tousled, and totally adorable was a distraction. She quickly came alert when she surveyed the scene.

“Oh my God! Tim! What are you doing here? What’s he doing here?” Amy exclaimed to Gavin.

“Tell him to let me go, Amy!” Tim demanded.

Gavin felt like kicking Tim again. Looking at Amy, he shook his head.

“Go back to bed, honey, please. There’s a squad car on the way,” Gavin said.

Amy complied, turning and leaving the kitchen.

“Fucking fat, frigid bitch!” Tim screamed.

“You know something, I’m beginning to think it’s
you,
not her,” Gavin said, walking over to the cupboard. He retrieved a glass and served himself some water.

“She is!” Tim screamed.

“No, there ain’t a damn thing wrong with her. But there’s everything wrong with
you
,” Gavin said, muttering to himself, “frigid! My ass! I know you figured out what happened in front of that fireplace…”

The squad car picked up Tim and the patrolman took a statement from Gavin. By this time everyone in the department knew Amy and Gavin were seeing each other on a pretty regular basis. The patrolman shook his head as he stuffed Tim in the back of the squad car.

“This guy just doesn’t learn. I wonder if he’s got a death wish. G’night, Lieutenant, and Merry Christmas,” the patrolman said.

“Same to you, Roger. Hope you and yours have a good Christmas,” Gavin said.

“Yeah, I stopped by on my lunch hour and helped the wife put all the presents under the tree. I should be home by the time the kids get up in the morning,” the patrolman said with a wide grin.

Gavin smiled and the patrolman took off with Tim. He went back into the house. Amy was sitting on the couch drinking a cup of tea. She looked up at him as he walked toward the couch and lowered himself next to her.

“I heard what you told him,” Amy said.

Gavin leaned his head back, took a deep breath, and released it.

“He gets mad when you tell him things like that. He called me at the library after I filed the restraining order and asked me why I would do you and not him,” Amy said.

“Tell him it’s because he’s a fucking nut job and doesn’t know what to do with a woman,” Gavin retorted. Despite Amy’s mood, she started laughing. Gavin always had a way of putting things in very sharp perspective. He looked at her, clearly annoyed. “The next time he calls you at work, hang up on him. And then call the cops.”

“I did hang up on him.”

“Amy, why didn’t you tell me he was calling you at work? A restraining order means no contact. When he does that crap call me or David.”

“I do hang up when he calls. Usually, he’s very drunk. I don’t think he knows what he’s doing.”

“The hell he doesn’t! You don’t think he thought about what he did tonight?” Gavin demanded, annoyed. Amy said nothing and looked away. “Amy, he’ll end up hurting you, and you’re playing right along with him. Honey, we can’t help you if you don’t help us.”

Amy remained annoyingly silent.

No
contact. Do you understand?” Gavin demanded.

“Yes, Gavin,” Amy said as she placed her cup of tea on the end table.

Amy went to the bedroom and slid between the sheets. Gavin didn’t follow. She took a deep breath. The last thing she wanted to do was ruin Christmas. Every Christmas for the last ten years had been a living hell. She knew she should have called them and told them that Tim was calling her. She thought it was trivial. But Gavin was right. For every inch she gave Tim, he took the proverbial mile. Tonight had been over the top.

Amy heard the TV switch on. Gavin was angry with her. She felt a deep twinge because he was the last person she wanted to disappoint. He had done everything in his power to protect her and now she felt she had violated his trust. It was one more thing Tim seemed to ruin in her life. She lay in bed fighting tears. He just didn’t understand how hard it was to recondition years of abuse.

Amy remembered how she could hardly contain her excitement the entire week. She loved Christmas. She loved everything about it, the traditions, the family, the joy, but mostly she loved sharing with people she loved. She fought the urge to have Gavin open all of his presents tonight. This would be a very special Christmas, and all of the people she would be with she loved and cared for deeply. Amy made up her mind. This holiday, despite Tim’s attempts, would be one of the best yet. She needed to talk to Gavin and take his advice this time on how to handle Tim.

Gavin sat on the couch seething. He wanted nothing more than to go and roar at Amy and demand from her why she was being be so damn stupid. This guy was dangerous. It was a matter of time before Tim would have really hurt or even killed her and she was still making excuses for him. He knew he had hurt her feelings. He thought about the ring he had bought her a couple of days ago. For the first time he had doubts about Amy.

Gavin planned on proposing to her tomorrow morning while they were opening their presents. When he got the ring, he was sure nothing would ever change his mind about spending the rest of his life with her. He recalled telling Amy he loved her. He had wanted to say that to her for so long. Tonight it slipped. He had been planning on telling her when he placed the ring on her finger. She wasn’t ready to make a future with him because he wasn’t sure she was ready to let go of her past. He wondered what it would take to get it into her head that this guy was a serious risk to her safety.
