He raised an eyebrow. Ok, so maybe I said it not so nicely.

I changed the subject, “
So why are we going to California
?”

“Matt Campbell has
just given
his endorsement and he throwing
a fundraiser this weekend for the campaign.
” Will explained, “He’s invited us to stay with him, also.”

You've got to be joking
!” I was
jumping up and down like a little girl
squealing with her besties.
Matt Campbell was one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood and had been my crush for the last five years. I couldn't believe I was actually going to get me
et him, let alone STAY IN HIS HOUSE!

I get to meet Matt Campbell
? Really? For real?” I couldn’t contain my excitement. I had turned into a star-obsessed tween.

Will laughed, “Y
eah
, of course you get to. You’re my girlfriend,
remember
?” He said
girlfriend
with those annoying finger quotes.

I rolled my eyes, “
Well
, yeah, I guess that pretend fact
would make it so that I would. I just can't believe that I get to.

I was seriously freaking out
. This had easily been the best week of my life. Just yesterday I was analyzing polls
f
or work and now I was pretend dating a Presidential n
ominee
, who also happens to
be a billionaire,
and meeting the hottest movie star ever. I couldn't believe my luck.
So despite the weird confusion with what happened after the love making, i
t seemed like things weren't so bad after all.
I could only hope. I crossed my fingers at the thought for good luck.

“Well, you get to, now have some breakfast.”
Wi
ll sat back down
to keep watching the news coverage of the fundraiser last night and
the unexpected, but hoped for, splash
I had made. The polls were
looking good and he was apparently obsessed with finding out everything he
could about it.

He turned around one more time, “Y
our contract

s on the table. You can loo
k over it on the plane on the ride over.” And then went back to watching the TV without waiting for a response.

My happy
e
xcitement suddenly died with the statement. T
his really was just a business arrangement and not any
thing more. The way he had announced it with such a
dismissive tone clearly meant that what had happened last night was just business as usual for him. My heart sank. But all I could do was accept it. After all
,
he was my boss and I didn't want to lose my job
, or his campaign because I couldn’t keep my feelings in check
.

“We’re leaving in an hour,
so get yourself ready so we can go
.” W
ill said
without turning around
.

“Ok
.

At least I would get be going to California and meeting Matt Campbell. I
had no problem
enjoy
ing the perks of the job, e
ven if my heart could potentially be crushed. But that was the chance I had to take. There was a sm
all chance that I could change Will's mind about our arrangement
j
us
t being a business agreement
,
and that
small chance was enough for me to sign the contract.

I walked over to the table and picked up the contract
. W
ithout even scanning it over
, I found a pen and signed my name to it. Whatever
it
stipulated
didn't matter
.
The only thing that mattered was a chance to capture
his heart.
