“But I
do
know you. Like I said, you’re my mate. If you weren’t, I wouldn’t have been able to come into your dream. We bond on a level that goes beyond the physical. We’re meant to be together. The more you think about it, the more you’ll know it to be true. You’re beautiful, vibrant, and the perfect thing that I’ve been waiting for all these years. You taste exquisite. I want more than anything to eat you all up. It’s hard not to drink from you all the way. Or think about taking you again. I could go all night, but I don’t think you’re up for that right now. Maybe after you’ve gotten used to me. Let me show you what I mean. How much I love you.”
Santino
arched his neck and with a stroke of his nail, he slit his flesh. Blood welled to the surface of his pale skin dotting it like small cherries. All she wanted to do was pluck the sweet fruit from his throat. She licked her lips. April opened her mouth and placed it over the wound. The first taste of it was like nothing she’d ever sampled before. Sweet and tart with a hint of copper, as if she’d sucked on pennies. Images flashed through her mind. It was so
sudden,
she wasn’t sure how to sort it all out. Long lines of women waited outside the club to be kissed. And all she wanted, no, all
Santino
wanted, was to find someone to be with. It had been so long since he had someone to love. He had searched for centuries and had given up hope. It wasn’t until the owner of Hell’s Gate suggested that he use one of the private rooms because she understood about being alone.
Another image of a beautiful redhead flashed in her mind and then she was suddenly replaced by the image of a wolf. April jumped and almost pulled away.
Santino
held her steady. She continued to drink and saw herself through his eyes, wide eyed and innocent the first time he had seen her with Cindy. He wanted her back. He sensed something about her. So deep was his intrigue, he had reached out and found he could penetrate her dreams. The yearning he had for her in the dream and that he needed her to come again. That if she didn’t come back to the club, he would seek her out again. But then they were kissing. From the first touch of her lips, he was transported to another world. His emotions overwhelmed her.
Relief of not being alone any longer.
The instant recognition that the woman he was kissing was the one for him. He couldn’t pull her essence from her. The longer he was around her, in just the few short hours, his love for her was growing. The taste of her blood lit him up. And he prayed she would accept him for all that he was.
Feeling and seeing all that through her mind, she understood how lonely
Santino
had been. How much he didn’t want to let her go. April licked his throat one last time. She looked up and saw the hopeful light in
Santino’s
eyes. He didn’t want her to reject him after everything she had witnessed and the time they had shared together. Seeing him and feeling his emotions, she realized she loved him. It was more than just the kiss. It was everything. He might be a monster to so many others, but to her he was the man she was meant to be with.
“Will you stay?”
Santino
asked.
April smiled.
“Forever.”
Santino
claimed her lips in a long kiss. What she said was true. She wasn’t going to go anywhere. They were going to be together forever. Nothing would pry them apart. The next time she saw Cindy, she’d have to thank her for bringing her to the club. If she hadn’t been so insistent, then none of this would have ever happened.
His lips turned into a large smile. “I was hoping you would say that.” He ran his hand over her chest and cupped her breast.
April saw the playful gleam in his eye. His cock was stiffening again. Her body was weary, but her spirit was empowered. She snuggled against him. “Ready to go again so soon, are you?”
“Vampires are insatiable. I’ll make love to you all night and into the dawn.”
She kissed him one last time. “Well, dawn is a long way off, and you’re keeping me up past my bedtime. You might have to think of things to keep me awake.”
He chuckled and sucked on her bottom lip. “I’m sure I can oblige you. There are many, many ways I can do that. I’ve learned a few tricks over the years.”
April giggled. “I’m sure you can. And we have a lot of time for you to show me exactly what all those tricks are. But now, it’s my turn to show you a few things.” She rolled him over so she was on top.
Santino
smiled. He took her hand and tugged on her wrist. “I know I love you.”
April claimed his lips. “And I love you. But I warn you, I can be a monster in the morning.”
“That’s nothing. I’m a monster all the time.”
