His grin filled his face making his lips disappear.

“Is that a proposal?” she asked twinning a lock of his hair about her finger.

“Ye heard me or shall I ask ye in French?”

He did not wait for a reply. He gave her a kiss that shamed all kisses that had ever been in the history of everything.

Then he took her right hand. He opened her fingers effortlessly, painlessly for her, and he placed something heavy in her palm. Her
sac
. She squeezed it, feeling the woolen ball, the coins and her papers inside.

“’Tis yours,” he said.

She shook her head. “’Tis ours.”

Sunlight suddenly filled the small chamber, or was it the sunlight bursting forth in Sabine’s heart?

Niall stared deep into her eyes. The blue!

“And yer answer is….?” he asked.

Sabine did not have to glance over her shoulder to confirm what her heart was shouting at her. Niall had brought her to Heaven. All she had to do was look in his eyes and listen to her heart to know that. And once she was in Heaven there was no need or want to go anywhere else.

“I love you, Niall MacGregor,” she said her heart filling so full that she thought it would burst.

He seized her up off the floor. In this Highland Heaven their spirits soared higher than the falcon.

Sabine laughed. “I will marry you!”

Niall laughed with her.

They kissed and slowly settled to the bare floor.

“Lack of a proper bed hasnae deterred us before,” Niall commented, nuzzling her neck.

“I want nothing,” she said, “except you.”

Niall toyed with the laces on her gown then brought his hand slowly to her belly. “I can think of one thing I want,” he said not breaking his gaze, “or two, or three, or four, or—”

She pressed a finger to his lips and smiled. She felt she would do so forever.
