He got up as they
approached the station where Salieri should get off to go to class, and he
wasn’t mistaken, as she got up a moment after, closing the folder and walking
up to the nearest door just as they reached the station.

“All right, Villani?”

“Fine.” Seth got up as
well, but he didn’t seem to be all there, his gaze wandering off.

Domenico frowned as they
entered the platform, walking slowly to let Salieri pass them. “Are your sugar
levels dropping?”

“I said I’m fine.” Seth
shuffled his feet, only looking at the girl every now and then.

Domenico sighed and
scratched his head. The guy was soft as a marshmallow, unable to separate work
from his private life. If it wasn’t for the respect he had for the late Donna,
Dom would consider the possibility of her having had an affair as well. It
would explain Seth and his happy-go-lucky attitude.

Dom would have never
said it to anyone but Luigi Tassa, his mentor, but the Don was wrong to think
Seth had what it took. Was it early-onset dementia? And in fact, despite the
jealousy gnawing at his insides, he did think Vincente could do the job better.
Not as well as he would, but the man who fathered him didn’t even consider
Domenico as a possible successor anyway.

Vincente was hard and
determined, but who knew what he had done to push the boss into such an absurd
decision. It could as well be a way of making Vincente apologize for whatever
he did. A way to teach the arrogant older son that the decision was out of his
hands perhaps? The brief stay at the Villani mansion made his feelings for Seth
clear though, and with everyone else appalled by Seth’s sudden rising in the
ranks as well, Domenico was cautious as ever.

Something else was on
Seth’s mind though. “Can I go home yet?”

Domenico sighed and gave
him a nod. “I think you did have your share of excitement for one day, let’s
go,” he said, moving to the other side of the platform.

Seth followed, giving
the girl one more glance. “How did she set me up?”

Domenico sighed and
entered the train that stopped by the platform. This one was almost empty. “She
had information from one of the men who knew where you were. We need to find
out who it was.”

Seth nodded and gritted
his teeth. “We’ll find him.”

“Of course we will.”
Domenico gave him a pat on the back and let his hand linger on the soft leather
jacket. “All in the right time.”

They traveled back to
their local subway station, and when they got out, Seth stopped at a
convenience store. “Give me some money.” He held out his hand, and Domenico
frowned at it.

“I’m not leaving you
here. I’m walking you home, and if you want something, we’re gonna buy it
together.”

Seth took a deep breath
and clenched his hands into fists. “Can you ask if they have any books in
English?”

Dom was fluent in
German, and he kept forgetting Seth needed help with every simple thing. “I
don’t think they have any here, but I could get something for you in town. What
would you want to read?”

“Just some fantasy or
something like that.” Seth put his hands in his pockets. “We don’t even have a
TV, so… yeah.”

They went down the
street, and Dom looked up when a plane from the nearby Tempelhof airport flew
over their heads. “For now, I want you to stay at home. I will have the cell on
at all times.”

“Finally some sleep.”
Seth stretched and opened his jacket when a few rays of sunshine peaked out
from behind the clouds.

Domenico wanted to knock
his head into the wall of the nearest building. “Better work on your skills
with a gun. Take the black one from my suitcase and train disassembling and
reassembling. Clean it, all the supplies are in the wardrobe. I will test you
once I’m back.”

“But… how?” Seth gave
him an unintelligible look and yawned.

“Just... you do know how
to do it, right?” Domenico was at loss. What the hell was wrong with this
Villani? Did he live in a cave?

“I can use it, but not
put it together.” Seth scratched his chin as they walked into their building
through a gate made of a thin sheet of metal. “I suppose I could try and take
it apart. Do I need a screwdriver?”

Domenico’s stomach sank.
“Do not fucking dare to touch my gun suitcase,” he said through clenched teeth.
This was unbelievable. “Especially my second Beretta.”

“Okay, okay.” Seth put
his hands up defensively, as they walked up the old, creaking stairs. “You were
the one saying I should do it.”

“You’re a Villani, I
assumed you are familiar with it.” Domenico dragged his hand down his face in
resignation. “I will have to teach you. Well, do some exercise then, I’m sure
that’s something you can do.”

“Are you my personal
trainer now as well? I’m in shape.” Seth frowned at him over his shoulder and
let out a deep breath when they reached the attic door.

“There’s no such thing
as too much exercise,” Dom told him as he opened the door. “Besides, you wanted
something to do, I’m just coming up with useful ideas.”

Seth took off his jacket
as soon as he entered. “I could go to the cinema. It’s on the corner.” He
looked out the window.

Domenico shook his head.
“Were you even listening to me? You are not to leave this place.”

“Just get me the book
then.” Seth sat down on the bed, negative attitude oozing out of his ears.

Domenico leaned against
the door frame. “Fantasy, that’s the one with dragons and imps?” he asked, not
impressed with Seth’s taste in literature.

“Yeah, vampires,
werewolves and stuff. I’ll take urban fantasy as well.” He lay on the bed, his
stomach peeking out between his T-shirt and pants.

“Is that imps and
dragons in New York City, or some shit like that?” Domenico couldn’t help but
let his gaze linger on that strip of flesh.

Seth closed his eyes and
smiled slightly. “Yeah, ‘shit like that’. And zombies, I like zombies.”

Domenico dragged his
foot over the floor, watching Seth’s chest and stomach rise and fall, but
eventually left, shutting the door without a word.

Chapter 6

Seth spent his afternoon
napping and wandering around the tiny attic. The sorry excuse for a kitchen
wasn’t making him optimistic, but he figured that if they went shopping the
next day, he could cook a few things if he was inventive. It was a challenge he
could deal with. Seth browsed his memory and his recipe book, considering what
simple but satisfying food he could make. He was sure it would lift his spirits
after the nasty morning with Dom. He sort of thought he’d be treated better
after sex, that they reached some sort of understanding last night. But that
had turned out to be all smoke and mirrors in the morning. In a way, Seth had
only himself to blame. He should have known better than to give himself up to
someone like Domenico Acerbi. The guy couldn’t possibly have normal feelings.
Everything with him was about power, and Seth couldn’t help feeling utterly
fucked. The slight pain lingering in his ass was only reminding Seth of it
every now and then.

At least washing again,
this time in privacy, was a lot less embarrassing than with Dom watching him.
Bottoming was easier at night, when no one would see. The passion of the night
before was like a wet dream. Seth had allowed himself to get seduced,
forgetting he’d have to wake up to the reality of what they had done. Something
was off, and he couldn’t exactly pinpoint what. He never thought less of Peter,
or any other guy who bottomed a lot, but in his culture, in the Family, it was
always considered the most shameful thing one could do. Being gay was bad
enough, but being gay and passive was inexcusable. The part of him that had
lived in the US for five years and listened to Placebo couldn’t care less, but
the part of him that was trying to establish himself as a strong opponent to
Domenico Acerbi was ashamed.

Seth had let himself get
swallowed up by Dom’s touch and smell, and his nimble fingers. He should have
been more cautious. Just because Dom seemed to know exactly what he was doing
at all times didn’t mean Seth should agree to everything. By the time Seth had
had any time to think whether he wanted to have sex or not, Dom was already on
top of him, pressing their cocks together. Seth would lie to himself if he
tried to pretend he fought Dom with all his strength, there was so much he
could have done if he really wanted to. Yet being mocked for liking it in the
morning left a sour taste of shame in his mouth.

It was already getting
dark, the buildings across the street gray on the background of a fiercely pink
sky when the sound of a key turning in the lock broke the silence of the tiny
apartment. Seth posed on the windowsill with a cigarette in hand, trying to
achieve the nonchalant look of someone with no care in the world.

Domenico walked in
carrying a plain black plastic bag packed with something chunky and heavy. He
was smoking as well, and he squinted at Seth before he even shut the door.
“Hope you haven’t touched the guns,” he said, moving the cigarette across his
lips without using his fingers.

“Why would I?” Seth rolled
his eyes, swearing at his insides for going all butterflies on him.

“Good.” Domenico walked
up to the table and placed the bag on top of it. Only then did Seth feel the
warmth radiating from it, along with a sharp, slightly bitter aroma that made
his hair bristle. “Unpack the food, I need to change.” Dom dropped the trench
coat over the backrest of the second chair.

Seth took a deep breath
and squinted at the boxes as if they were the enemy. He jumped off the
windowsill and came over to inspect what was already starting to make him gag.
“The fuck is this?” he groaned and opened the box just to check if it was in
fact tikka masala. Memories of never ending darkness flowed right back at him
and toppled over in a wave of nausea. Even the sight of Domenico dropping his
underwear wasn’t enough to stop him from gagging.

“Food, obviously.”

“Why didn’t you ask me
if I want a freaking curry, huh? I hate it! Why are you fucking naked?” Seth
spread his arms to the sides, once again, lost.

Domenico frowned, but
walked up to him, still in his birthday suit, gorgeous as a wild cat. “I got a
fucking tikka. It’s mild.”

“Eat it yourself then,
I’m not hungry.” Seth was getting so agitated by the smell alone, he couldn’t
find a place for himself in the room. The slanted ceiling wasn’t helping,
limiting the space even further. He was trapped.

Domenico rolled his eyes
and parked his bare ass in the chair, pulling out one of the Styrofoam boxes.
He opened the lid, and the vaporized smell of spices went up into the air,
clinging to every surface around them. “Just eat your rice.”

“Do you usually eat
naked?” Seth moved to the door, wondering if Dom would chase him naked if he
tried to flee.

“Dinners.”

Seth cringed, watching
Domenico shovel the spicy sauce and meat with their only fork. “Can you not do
it with me in the room?” Seth took deep breaths and sat down on the bed out of
lack of a better place.

“No, I need to feel
comfortable after working for an entire day while you were here, napping,”
grumbled Domenico, packing his mouth full of curry and rice.

“I wasn’t napping! It’s
not my fault I can’t leave and do something. And I don’t feel comfortable with
you sitting around naked, because I know it’s all a provocation.” Seth got up
from the bed, barely avoiding hitting his head on the ceiling, and moved to sit
in the window. The smell was giving him goosebumps and filling the apartment
with heat so thick he was getting the impression the walls were closing in on
him.

Domenico didn’t say
anything, apparently not considering Seth worthy of attention. He was eating so
fast it was embarrassing.

“I’ll go sit on the
stairs,” Seth muttered and went for the door. He couldn’t spend another second
in this room.

“Stay where you are, or
come sit by the table.” Dom knocked on the wood.

Seth swallowed and
stopped halfway, settling on sitting by the table. He was so miserable he
didn’t even want to ogle Dom. After another deep breath of air full of the foul
smell, he slouched and started drawing on the table with his fingertips. “You
know… yesterday… was that like a stress thing or something?”

The fork bit into the
Styrofoam, and Domenico frowned, closing his eyes in obvious annoyance. “What
the fuck are you talking about?”

Seth pouted. “About
yesterday. I don’t really… I don’t really understand what happened.”

Domenico’s snort made
his heart sink. “Oh? I thought your former ‘roommate’ taught you a lot about
what happened yesterday.”

“I just… didn’t think
you’d be interested in me.”

Amber flashed at him,
and Seth couldn’t help but press his thighs together at the intensity of
Domenico’s gaze.

“Why wouldn’t I?”

“‘Cause you can’t stand
me. I can see it.” Seth swallowed and got himself a cigarette to stifle the
clenching in his stomach.

“What does that have to
do with anything?” Domenico dropped the box into the trash and walked straight
to the bathroom.

This time Seth couldn’t
help himself and looked up at Dom’s ass. “Why would you have sex with someone
you don’t like?”

“Wouldn’t be the first
time.” Dom squeezed some toothpaste on his toothbrush and looked at him in the
small mirror. “Why did you do it if you can’t stand me either?” he asked before
stuffing his mouth.

Seth went silent in an
attempt to work it out in his mind himself. He’d spent all afternoon trying to
answer that question. “I don’t know. Heat of the moment. Doesn’t mean I’ll lose
my mind again.”

Domenico shrugged with a
mocking smile, mouth full of white foam. The fucker cared about nothing. Seth
sighed, staring at Dom’s back, marred with long scratches Seth had left there
the night before. Dom had the perfect shape, with his shoulders broad and hips
narrow. Maybe sleeping on the floor would be the answer.

His whole body stirred
when Dom turned around to face him, his gorgeous dick in full view.

“A shame for the other
curry. We don’t have a fridge,” said Domenico, slowly walking back to the
table.

Seth’s nostrils flared,
and he grabbed the box of food. Their place was so small, he only had to walk
two steps away to throw it out the window. “I don’t care!” Seth panted,
watching the pieces of meat and sauce splash someone’s car. “Never buy shit
like that again!” His heart stopped when he noticed a small smile on Domenico’s
face. When had he come so close?

“It’s not funny.” Seth
squinted and quickly took a step back toward the table, his skin tingling when
his move was mirrored by Domenico. Hypnotized by his startling eyes, Seth was
lost when warm hands moved to rest on his hips.

He couldn’t help finding
Dom so attractive. It wasn’t his fault. “I told you not to touch me.” Seth’s
heart sped up when his ass hit the table. Nowhere to run. Dom captured his gaze
completely, and Seth didn’t even know how he got to sit on the table, with
Dom’s hands forcing his thighs apart.

“Hey!” Seth pushed on
Dom’s shoulders, heat rushing up his chest. Was he not even worth speaking to?
“You’re not listening!”

“What is it that you
want to tell me?” Domenico ground his hips against Seth’s defenseless crotch.
The smell of his hair was already making Seth’s knees weak and helping him
forget all about curry. With this smell around him, he was safe. Or was he?

“I’m saying you can’t do
this.” Seth pushed back against Dom’s chest, goosebumps all over his arms. “I
told you I don’t want it! It was a one-time thing.”

Domenico shook his head,
cupping Seth’s face with both hands. It felt both constricting and incredibly
arousing, leaving Seth at a loss. “I don’t think you convinced me.”

Seth looked into Dom’s
eyes. Against all trace of logical thought left in his mind, he was getting
hard. “How the hell am I supposed to do that then?” He tried to pull his hands
away, to see how strong Dom’s grip really was, and his body shook with a
tremble that was both hot and cold when he felt the iron hold of Dom’s arms. It
was so fucking confusing, and it didn’t help a bit that Dom was clearly making
a move.

“I don’t think you can,”
he whispered, blowing hot, minty air against Seth’s lips.

Seth swallowed, shivers
running down his back at the memory of yesterday. Both the orgasms and the
pain. It was blurring together, and he was in quicksand. Of course he wanted to
have sex with a guy as hot as Dom, but he also didn’t at the same time. He
couldn’t make a decision this quickly, and it was unfair Dom forced him to.
“I…”
Come on, Seth, make the decision!

Domenico leaned forward
and lapped at his lips, slowly grinding his hips between Seth’s thighs. Why was
it now so hard to remember how nasty Dom was? Seth’s chest moved up and down
with every rapid breath. Even jeans and a T-shirt were becoming too much
clothing with the way his skin heated up. Seth slowly parted his lips, with his
hands still trapped by Dom’s. It didn’t hurt to make out.

Domenico was aggressive
in his kisses and pushed Seth flat on the table, still comfortably settled
between Seth’s thighs where the heat was strongest. Seth let out a nasal
whimper, embarrassed by its high pitch as soon as it left his lips. His mouth
was eager to accept Dom's tongue, but his hand kept pushing back Dom's stomach
as if parts of his body had made two different decisions.

Domenico’s sudden retreat
made Seth look up in confusion, but as soon as those strong hands grabbed his
hip in what was a clear attempt at turning him to his stomach, Seth fought
back, trying to stand on the floor again. This was a wake-up call. He grabbed
Dom’s wrist with one hand and pushed at his arm with the other. How could this
fucker be so strong? Seth grunted in exertion, but it was no use, and Domenico
pushed his face into the tabletop, holding him in place with his own weight.
The worst thing was that Seth could already feel the bulge straining against
his ass.

“It hurt last time!”
Seth yelped and hit his forehead against the table in frustration. He stilled
for a moment, but he had to face the truth—he wasn’t fighting with all his
strength. It was as if the decision still wasn’t there. One part of him was
afraid of the brutal man on top of him, the other aroused by his weight and
brute force. Seth’s skin burned in the tiny area on his back, between his jeans
and T-shirt where his body touched Dom’s with no barrier. A warm tongue at the
back of his neck made his stomach clench with desire.

“You’ll get used to it,”
whispered Domenico, his tone lubricating the way for his hand to slip inside
the front of Seth’s pants.

“I don’t wanna,” Seth
moaned, even though his dick was rock hard. He wiggled his hips, trying to slip
out of the vise-like embrace, but all he got was to rub his ass against Dom’s
cock.

“Stop being such a
wimp,” rasped Domenico, pushing the jeans and underwear off Seth’s hips. It set
off an alarm in Seth's head as loud as a fire engine.

Seth grabbed on to the
table, silenced by Dom’s words. Was he a wimp for complaining? Or was he a wimp
for not complaining enough? The breath on his neck and the slippery tip of
Dom’s cock on his buttock weren’t helping him focus.
