And what about Travis and Jess, you might ask. Well, once Betty-Sue got over the shock of Travis moving out—no amount of pie in the world could drag that boy back from the much sweeter dessert found between his wife’s thighs—they came to a truce, especially once Betty-Sue realized she was going to be a grandma.

Poor Jess. It would be a miracle if she ended up able to walk with all the food Betty-Sue was determined to make her eat.

As for me. Who am I you might wonder that I know so much about the town and its inhabitants? I was the town recluse, living there quietly and healing from the war. Left alone because that’s what I wanted. What I needed.

But now?

Now I think it’s time for me to maybe go back home where I belong. The swamp is calling me.

The past is no longer haunting me. Much.

It’s time this crocodile stopped hibernating and faced the world.

And took a bite out of life.
