A Trojan is a computer program that mimics real applications but do
es
completely unpredictable things to
systems when administrators
are unaware
that their security has
been breached. Normal commands
do
not work as they should

I was lucky to find this out. Let’s find out a bit more by sugrep on pty*

I
t

s not ‘Apostol’ but ‘epostol’
...probably
to confuse any obvious searches
.
T
his is unbelievable!

While
Francesca
studied her revelations
,
the temperature
in the room
dropped to about 4 degrees Celsius!
What was going on
?
Her
f
ingers were
practically
freezing.

I think the thermostat

s going crazy in here,
her mind
yelled,
sensing another drop
coming
.
As
she
s
tar
ed
at the console
,
Francesca
became aware of a soft sound behind her
.
W
hat was it
—it sounded
like breathing
....

The boring drone of the switches seemed to dull and disappear
.
S
training her senses, Francesca’s ears moved a little in reflex and decided to ignore the sound
as a figment of
her imagination
.

A draft
blew straight
on her shoulders this time, sounding more like breathing
but
heavier this time.
Francesca’s mind finally caught up with her senses.
I
t
is
breathing
!
her panicked mind screamed.
In dread, still focusing her attention
at the
screen
ahead,
Francesca pretended everything was ok,
not wanting to turn around
.
Steady girl, steady
.
L
uk
e is fully functional
.
All green
...
c
omplete!
Get out of here, let’s go
...
!
O
h
,
fuck
...
.

Francesca turned slowly and apprehensively
...
and the breathing noise
stopped
.
Really,
no breathing?
She
felt a bit silly
for her terror
.

Christ
,
thank God
it’s nothing...
but then, how stupid was that
?
What kind of air conditioning does this?
Francesca s
cann
ed
the immediate area
and
everything looked normal
—the only
unusual
thing was
the temperature drop. There were too many metal cabinets in her line of sight to see clearly
, of course
.
Still
,
she remained apprehensive
about
being here all alone.

‘Is there anybody
in here?
’ she shouted,
but heard
no reply
.
I must be going mad,
she decided.
I’m out of here

had enough of these bloody conditions
,
anyway!

Francesca
tried
to keep calm although her mind was
careening near
the edge
.
The constant humming and drone of the switches and electrical fans seemed louder in the air as she
made up
her mind.

Halfway towards the door

ten metres, now five,
si
,
closer

good!
Heavy breathing seemed to be following her
once more
,
and
not
from
far away
.
O
h my God,
don’t look back! Keep going
,
keep going
....
‘Oh no!’ she groaned audibly as she remembered her ID card.
She fumbled
, trying to pull it from her pocket.
F
aster!

WHOOSSSHHH! Cold air blew down on her!

Francesca jumped
,
her
breathing
coming
shallow and rapid. Hot breath from her mouth condensed visibly in front of
her face in the icy cold breeze
.
T
he blowers
switched
on again
and
a mad
rush of cold air flooded the room
from above.

WHOOSSSHHH!
It felt c
older than the Arctic, biting into her face!

Francesca’s hair flew about wildly around her face
with the fierce air current pounding into the room
.
The girl shrieked
—o
nly one thing in her mind now
.

Get out! Get out!
Get out!
It sounded like
someone else
was
panting
loudly
right behind her
,
now!
Was she
going crazy?

She r
each
ed
the
door
,
her
ID
card grasped tightly in
her
hand
.
O
ne accurate swish downwards
,
and
...
.

“BUZZZ
!
” the alarm sound of the door signall
ed
that the lock was
now
open.

Francesca pull
ed
hard using both hands
until the door flew open.
I’m
OUT!

BANG! The door shut tight behind her,
and she rested
her back against it
.
She
’d done it—she
was out!
