“Everything okay brother?”

“Yeah. What’s happening between you and the widow?”

“Probably the same as what’s happening between you and Ivy.”

Dec’s laughter was hallow and sounded fake to me.

“I doubt it. Ivy doesn’t give me the time of day.”

Unable to answer Dec right away, I finished the bottle of JB and lite a cheroot.

“To begin with Ellie was just a bit of skirt. When she started dating Adam, and began to see me less. I got a pain in my gut and I wanted to kill the bastard. The way I handled things, had me nearly losing Ellie. Fuck Dec, I still don’t know what I want. It’s just that at the moment, Ellie is the perfect libido killer, and my dick will not rise for anyone but her. And if you tell anyone that, I’ll obliterate you.”

DCMC

The return to Comfort Springs, was just as uneventful as I had anticipated. The knowledge of knowing who was behind the burglaries, but not knowing where the outlaws were, was vexing. Sundance and Fraggle had yet to return to the clubhouse. The cage was temporary unloaded, the cargo waiting idly in the basement, to be collected by The Scarlet Runners.

On our return, we had been greeted by Flynn, who had just won the UFC championship for the third year running. For all his growling, Linc and the rest of us greeted him like a long lost brother.

“Hey. I thought my lady would be here to say hello.”

This time, Linc’s growl was loud and menacing, which Flynn simply ignored as he slapped the VP on his back.

“Are you treating her right?”

Cassie has been a favorite with the majority of the bikers from the moment she married Linc. There had been no airs or graces, from the classy lady, and she had won all their respect. In fact, most of the brothers were protective of Baby Blu, Cassie and Rayven and it had nothing to do with the men they were partnered with. Ellie’s dead husband, was a brother who had fallen in battle and she also had the club’s respect. There would be no problems in the club, if we hooked up.

The cell in my pocket was burning and unable to ignore it any longer, I withdrew the instrument and press the pre-programmed number. Two rings later and Ellie was on the other end.

“Where are you? You should have been back here before us.”

“We got a puncture and the spare was flat, so we had to wait for the auto club.”

“You should have rung the garage.”

“Nick, it was quicker to ring the auto club, then wait for someone from Comfort Springs.”

“Perhaps. Tell Sundance to bring the SUV in, and I’ll check it out.”

The soft drawl of Ellie’s southern twang, was sending shivers through me, and my cock was twitching for a piece of her pussy. And there wasn’t a thing I could do about it tonight, or for the rest of the week

“Look, I’m tied up at the club and I don’t know when I can get round to see you. But give me a call when you get home.”

“Sure. Look, Nick, I need to go and I’m home now. I’ll see you next weekend.”

A part of me, hated hearing the disappointment in her voice, while another part rejoiced, knowing that she was missing me as much as I was missing her.

“Ellie.”

“Erm.”

“I meant what I said before leaving. It’s just you and me.”

“Sure, I’ll catch up with you sometime in the week. Okay.”

Ellie had already disconnected the call before I was able to respond.

Before leaving Bear’s this morning, it had been agreed that Tabby and I, would hit the road along with Quick Draw, to try and find Tats, and we were heading out at first light. It sure sucked that I would not be seeing Ellie for a week, but I didn’t have any spare time to sneak over for a quick visit, like Tabby had done.

“Are you joining us?”

The cheroot had come to an end, and I carelessly threw the remainder into an old metal canister, which was leaning against the wall. It was going to be a long night. With one last search of the parking lot, I followed Trax into the clubhouse. Instead of going to the room, which was used for church, I crossed over the main hall to Quick Draw, who was playing a game of pool with one of the biker bunnies. As the young girl bent over the table, to take her shot, Quick Draw slapped her ass and the room vibrated from her yell, yet no one looked in our direction.

“Check your Hog Quick Draw. There’s no time for pussy. When Fraggle arrives, fill him in about the change of drop with The Scarlet Runners.”

Fuck, if I wasn’t getting laid, neither was the pup. When I finally made it into the meeting room, it didn’t take me long to locate Bugsy, the garages’ supervisor. Together we went over last week’s business and the upcoming weeks.

“I’ve been approached by a new supplier.”

“And?”

“I don’t know Fudge. You know when they say something’s too good to be true. Well, that’s the feeling I get from this fella.”

“Stall him, if you can. Sundance will be here this week. Get him to do a background check. Then we’ll take it from there.”

Bugsy is a broad biker, the crown of his head coming to my eye level. He has also been a part of Comfort Springs and Devil’s Comfort, well before I moved to town. He partied hard. At last count, I think he had three ex-wives and number four was in the process of divorcing him. For all the mannerisms of a sloth, he showed to the world, nothing escaped this man. If he smelt a rotten fish. Then you were a rotten fish. He was also a damn good mechanic.

“If there’s any problems, while I’m away, give me a ring. Inferno will also be popping over while I’m gone. So if you can’t get a hold of me. Talk to him.”

My meeting with Bugsy is just wrapping up, when the other bikers began making their way into the chapel. The last one to trail in, is Tabby, who smirks in my direction and as a thank you, I flip him the finger.

“Rayven okay with you going away again?”

“She couldn’t get me out of the house quick enough. Fuck, Fudge, her and Silver will have been in charge of Tie me Down, for nearly two weeks by the time we go back. Fuck knows what we’ll come home to. The female dancers, will have been replaced by male strippers at this rate.”

“Hey, do they do private auditions?”

Flynn had made his way over to the vacant chair beside me. His grin, almost splitting his face in half.

“Stay away from Rayven.”

The rumble in Tabby’s throat has me smiling. I was not the only one leaving someone behind.

“Hey Flynn, They’re always looking for new totty, at Tie Me Down”

“Maybe Cassie will help with my outfit? What do you say Linc?”

“That you’re living on borrowed time. Stay away from Cassie.”

“Okay boys settle down. We’ve a debriefing to get through and plans to sort out for next week.”

Chapter 7

Nick had rung late last night, to let me know he was on his way back to Comfort Springs, and would meet me at Devil’s Comfort’s clubhouse this afternoon, for the monthly barbeque. I had missed the biker. The only thing to break the monotony of my week, were the phone calls from Nick.

During the week I’d had another argument with Eliza, over Nick and his life style. This has directly resulted in Eliza, just ringing to speak to the kids. The loud clatter of something breaking in the kitchen, has me jumping out of the bed and grabbing my housecoat as I ran down the stairs. The mess, which greeted me in the kitchen, causes me to groan.

On the floor lay a broken bowl of cornflakes, and milk was splattered up the kitchen cupboards and seeping across the floor.

“Amelia what happened?”

At five, Amelia was already trying to assert her independence and this was the second bowl she had broken this week.

“It was Annie, she wouldn’t wait until I got her bowl ready.”

“Stay where you are until I have this cleaned up.”

Annie has become a problem. At first when Amelia had introduced us to her invisible friend I had been over indulgent. Maybe just a tad too much. Now, whenever anything went wrong, it was always Annie, who Amelia blamed.

“Mama, are you mad.”

“No baby, I’m not. Come on, let’s go wash your face and go visit gran-ma.”

As soon as Toby and Amelia were fed and dressed, I took off for Eliza’s. She may not be speaking to me, but I was not going to let this little tiff, come between us.

“What are your plans for today, Ellie?”

Eliza has aged well, and it was a shame she never remarried or dated again after losing her husband, James. Her blond hair, perfectly coiffured, the gray slacks complementing her slim figure. Whilst, the gray striped shirt fitted perfectly. This woman was no mother goose, grandmother, yet she would often get down on the floor and play games with Toby and Amelia.

“We’re going to the picnic at Devil’s Comfort.”

Just as Eliza’s face began to shutter close, I decided to invite her along.

“You’ll enjoy it Eliza, and it’ll get you out of the house.”

“My social life is fine, Ellie. I have the gardening club on Monday and this afternoon, Helena, Elizabeth and Charlotte, are coming over for a game of bridge.”

“What about the afternoon dance and tea club, which Rayven has started. I’m sure you’ll enjoy that. Didn’t you say you and James used to dance?”

Eliza may not have said yes, but as I was leaving, she had not said no, to the idea of joining the dance class. Delighted, that I had managed to sidestep Eliza’s questioning, about my intended trip to Devil’s Comfort, I drove with a happy smile and hummed under my breath. The closer I got to the clubhouse, the sweatier my hands became, as my stomach began to churn.

“Mama?”

“Yes, Toby.”

“Who are all those people?”

With years of practice, I easily parked the car between two other vehicles, and opened the rear door to let Toby and Amelia out. From the parking lot, I studied the bikers and their old ladies. The ambiance of the party festivities, soaking into my bones.

“Their friends. Now come along and let’s join them.”

As I made my way over to Rayven, who was sitting beside Tabby, who was holding their son Kavan, I searched the area for Nick.

“He’s with Inferno and Dec, and will be along later.”

Was I really that obvious in my search for Nick? In an attempt to say it did not matter to me either way, I rolled my shoulders and sat beside Rayven. Toby and Amelia, bored by the adult company, soon ambled off to play with the other children on the bouncy castle, which the club has hired for today’s entertainment.

As dates went, this was not going very well. Nick was not around. Rayven and Tabby looked as though they were making up for lost time, and I had no idea where either Cassie or Baby Blu where.

Determined not to let this spoil my fun, I looked around, to see if I could find anyone else I recognized. When suddenly, a body dropped down next to me. Ivy, had her fiery red hair, piled on top of her head, her face surrounded by loose curls. Like me, she was wearing cut off denim shorts and a tank top, whilst mine was sage green hers’ was a silver gray. White ankle socks finished her assemble off, with a pair of sneakers.

“They’ve been like that since Tabby got back. I’m telling you Ellie, it’s a sickness and I’m glad I’m not afflicted by it.”

“Hey, you two are new. Want to join me on the dance floor?”

The Doors were playing,
You can re-light my fire
. The biker standing in front of me, was a dream boat. From his shaved head down to his biker boot covered feet. Slowly I let my gaze appraise the biker, resting momentarily on his junk, which was impressive if the bulge in his denims was to go by. By the time I turned in Ivy’s direction, she was already up and in the stranger’s arms, his hand held out expectantly. I was here to have fun, and without any hesitation I accepted the pro-offered hand, as the biker guided us on to the makeshift dance floor.

“Flynn Roberts. Take your hands of my woman’s ass.”

“Fudge you old dog. Don’t tell me this beautiful woman is with you. Fuck, honey, don’t you have any taste.”

Flynn was an easy going man and effortlessly, he let go of my body, as he stepped closer to Ivy, pulling her into his body. Their hips fitting snugly.

“I thought you’d deserted me.”

“No chance of that, Sugar.”

This is said as Nick, pulls me into his body. His arms loose around my hips, as one of his hand’s strokes the lower curve of my spine. That one touch, and I’m about to wet my pants. Nick’s touch has me stumbling over my own feet for a moment, and I hide my face in his chest. This gives me the perfect opportunity to smell the man. The light lingering smell of the cheroot mingling with his aftershave, and another tremble rocks my body.

“Where are the kids?”

“There on the castle. Cassie’s watching them.”

As I had been dancing with Flynn, Cassie had arrived with Linc and they had been joined by Inferno and Baby Blu.
