“My goodness, I had no idea that it was so late. Cook must be wondering what on earth has happened to me. Let me up, Justin, or it will be ten o’clock before we get anything to eat tonight.”
“I find my appetite’s gone in another direction entirely,” he grinned, holding her in place by the simple expedient of rolling on top of her again. Megan protested, but she couldn’t keep from laughing at him.
“It’s just occurred to me that it might be a good idea to give Alex a little competition before too long,” he said, with a mock thoughtful air. “What do you think?”
Megan pretended to ponder.
“Well, I always heard that only children get hopelessly spoiled,” she answered demurely, her smile belying the seriousness of her tone.
“Oh, do they?” His eyes glinted wickedly down at her. “In that case, it will be my pleasure to provide Alex with half-a-dozen brothers and sisters.”
