It only took him two
years to get these out, so it seems he’s rushed them into
production. And who knows if the CAM will have as much wit as this
CAL.” Cal smiled brilliantly. “Plus each unit is custom made. No
two will look alike, so I doubt any of them will look like me. I
can still be an original. Perhaps I need to stop in to see your old
friend Declan to ensure I remain an original.”

“
I’ll go with you. I don’t
trust that man.”

Cal grinned before lowering his head
to steal a quick kiss.

Jacob stared up at his lover, stunned
he’d gotten so lucky. A lightning strike was a one in a million
kind of thing. Sort of like winning the lottery and that’s exactly
what Jacob had done. He’d won the man of his dreams that night and
been made happier and happier each night ever since for two years.
Cal had quickly become more sentient each day, to the point he’d
even recently started working as Jacob’s assistant.

Jacob may be the boss at work, but
when they got home, Cal was the sole master of the abode. And Cal
had lived up to his title. Jacob’s sore ass was a testament to
Cal’s abilities.

“
I hate that worried look
on your face, Jacob. Declan will leave us alone or he’ll suffer. I
made that perfectly clear to him.” Cal pressed one finger to
Jacob’s chin and lifted Jacob’s face to his. “You need something to
take your mind off Declan and his knock-off cyborgs.”

Jacob felt his heart racing. “I have
to ask you something first.”

“
What?”

“
I’ve never asked you,
I’ve always been too afraid to,” Jacob whispered.

“
You can ask me anything,
Jacob.”

Jacob swallowed roughly, not knowing
where to start. “I—bought—you. You were forced to come with me.
After the strike, you seemed happy here. You still seem happy here,
but I can’t stop wondering—”

Cal frowned. “Wondering
what?”

“
Do you want to stay with
me?”

“
Where else would I want
to go?” Jacob asked quietly.

“
By law, you’re considered
an object, a thing, my property. I want to make it clear I don’t
see you like that, and I don’t want you to ever think I see you as
beneath me. You’re my equal.” Jacob took a steadying breath. “And
you’re free to go if you want to.”

“
Do you want me to go,
Jacob?”

Jacob shook his head adamantly. “No!
No, I don’t want you to go anywhere. I … love you.”

Cal palmed the back of Jacob’s head
and drew him in for a passionate kiss. “I don’t want to go anywhere
but wherever you are. I love you, too.”

Jacob smiled and allowed Cal to kiss
him again, his whole body firing up.

“
Now, back to the
refocusing your attentions. Crawl on over and get your cuffs. Bring
them back in your teeth, slave.”

Jacob felt his whole body tingle.
“Yes, Master.”
