Would you like to come in for tea?

The tingle inside of her had grown to such an extent that she wasn’t sure she would be able to control herself. Thinking of what Brandon could do with just his tongue had made Jada long for more. She had imagined what he could do with his other parts. She had imagined him filling her up inside. But Brandon had declined. He had said he had a big day coming up, but he’d drop by the dealership in the morning to say hello. Why the change of heart? Was he done with her already? Had he used her up after a single interrupted escapade in the woods? She almost thought he loved her. She certainly had feelings for him. Had he used her just for sex?

Jada, you’re going down a dangerous path, young lady.

Jada still called herself young lady, even though of late she had begun to feel her biological clock tick. What was she thinking, anyhow? Brandon was a player. Whatever he might claim, that was what he was. She’d learned that back when he stood her up for the prom. But Jada was no longer a schoolgirl. Maybe hooking up with Brandon had been a mistake. To expect a man, any man, to change was an exercise in futility. No, she would be happy with what they’d had. All his talk of them being together forever was just talk, Jada told herself as she got ready for work.

But even though she told herself that what had happened between them was a one-time thing, she still got dolled up just a little more than usual for her day at the office. She pulled on a set of sheer, black stockings and a push-up bra that put the girls exactly where they needed to be. Then she pulled on a hip-hugging black skirt, not too short but not too long, along with a red, form-fitting blouse. She finished the outfit off with a pair of black open-toe platform heels, red lipstick, and her signature yellow silk scarf. She didn’t need to do anything for her mocha-brown skin. Her skin was one of her best features and she alway glowed.

Set for the day, Jada cruised to work in the company car. The dealership always gave her the latest vehicle to drive. Not one of their super expensive brands but something nice. In this case it was a black C-Class Mercedes: leather interior, satellite radio, and a big old sunroof. None of those signs saying it was a loaner car for such-and-such auto dealer, either. Wild Alpha didn’t need to advertise like that. The car was just one of the ways her boss, Brandon’s dad, treated her right. She hoped that Brandon was cut from the same cloth.

“Hey, girl,” Amanda said as Jada walked in the door.

Jada smiled and walked up to the reception desk. The dealership had just opened and salesmen were still coming in and getting settled at their desks.

“I heard about what happened. Are you all right?”

Immediately Jada’s thoughts went to her and Brandon. Amanda had heard. Had the hikers seen? Jada didn’t mind sharing her personal life with her girlfriends, especially Amanda, but was it public already?

“You heard?”

“Yeah. I heard about the accident and that creep. Are you going to testify against him?”

That’s what she was talking about. “Yeah,” Jada said. “I think so.”

“So what about you and Brandon?” Amanda asked with a grin.

Even the sound of Brandon’s name made Jada tingle down there.

“What about us?”

“Don’t hold out on me, girl. I know he brought you home after the police station.”

Damn. That was the fun of living in a small town. Everybody knew everything. Amanda had a brother on the police force, so it didn’t surprise Jada that she knew this, but still. “He brought me home, that’s it,” Jada said, not quite ready to share her secret.

“That’s all I need,” Amanda said with a smile. “FYI—you look hot today.”

“Thanks for noticing.” Jada was pretty sure Amanda understood that whatever had happened or hadn’t happened with Brandon, she wasn’t ready to discuss it yet. “And, Amanda. I’ll tell you if something really happens.”

“You go, girl.”

Jada grinned and went to her desk. All morning she waited eagerly for Brandon to arrive, but he never showed.
The morning probably got away on him,
she thought. She ate her lunch and waited expectantly, but it was the same thing. Brandon never showed. Greg was there, and Amanda, and the mechanics, but nobody said a word about Brandon, and Jada wasn’t about to go asking. As the day progressed, she realized that maybe she’d been right all along. A leopard didn’t change its spots. The
new
Brandon had been too good to be true. She left work that evening, not pleased, but at least settled in the fact that she and Brandon had shared one amazing afternoon together.

Halfway home, Jada realized she had forgotten her purse. Unfortunately, it contained her bank card, her house keys and pretty much everything else she needed to live her life. Jada did a quick U-turn and hoped that the dealership would still be open. The cleaning crew usually came on Wednesdays, so she was pretty sure she’d be able to sneak in and grab her stuff.

When Jada arrived, the dimmed lights were shining down on the sports cars in the showroom, but the door was locked. This was getting better and better. Now she’d have to call a locksmith for her apartment, or maybe Amanda could tell her who could get hold of a spare set for the showroom. Yeah, that might be the way to go.

Jada was so busy trying to figure out her next move that at first she didn’t pay much attention to the woman in the sedan parked under the street lamp. From what she could see through the car window, the woman was a stick-thin blonde. Perfectly made-up, straight hair, button nose, and big boobs. The kind of trophy wife most guys swooned for. There were so many of them in Wild Summit these days that Jada didn’t give her a second thought. Didn’t give her a second thought, that is, until Brandon poked his head up from beneath the dash.

Bastard!
She felt her heart drop. It was as if a horrible hollow had suddenly taken up residence in the pit of her stomach. Jada couldn’t believe it. Well, she could, but she didn’t want to. Had he really had his head buried in that woman’s lap? Jada slunk off into the night. The last thing she wanted was to see him. But then she had a change of heart. Maybe she did want to see him. Maybe she wanted to tell him exactly what she thought.

Chapter Four

Brandon was very pleased that the woman had been able to come up to Wild Summit on such short notice. He knew she was busy. He knew she had other clients. But after what had happened with Jada at the hot spring, he had needed to see the woman immediately. Fortunately, she had agreed to his request.

Earlier in the day, Brandon was simply going to visit Jada at the dealership. He was going to tell her about his bear. But the more he thought about it, the more he realized that his best course of action was to stay away until he had a solid plan. After all, how was he was going to explain this very complicated part of his life? Jada may have been the one, but he hadn’t won her over yet. And though he had done many things with his life business-wise, he knew that winning Jada would be his biggest test yet. If he couldn’t do it, everything else was for nought. He had to have his mate.

Brandon waved goodbye to the woman and headed to the front entrance of the dealership. He had some files he needed to pick up, but even when he should have been thinking about business, his mind sprang back to Jada. Her fresh skin. Her luscious body. Her sexy smile. She was a curvy, full-figured goddess, and what they had between them was a jewel. It wasn’t a casual fling to be treated haphazardly. His bear told him that whatever he did, however he did it, Jada needed to be treated right.

“Once a player, always a player, hey, Brandon?”

“…Jada,” Brandon looked up to see that she had snuck in the showroom door behind him. “I meant to call you.”

“You don’t owe me a call.”

“No, but…” Jada stared him down.“What’s wrong?”

“Why don’t you ask your blonde friend?” Jada said.

Ah crap. This was not going the way Brandon wanted. “It’s not what it looks like,” he said.

“Really? And what does it look like?”

Brandon searched for the words. He didn’t want to tell Jada about the woman, but the thought of causing his beloved any pain was much worse than any embarrassment he might feel. He was, after all, an Alpha, and being an Alpha meant there was one way to deal with the problem. Head on.

“Never mind, Brandon, it’s not my business.”

“Jada.” Brandon put his hand on her arm. “She’s a doctor. A therapist…My therapist.”

“And what’s she doing here?”

“Helping me.”

“Helping you what?” Jada asked incredulously.

“Helping me with some decisions I have to make.”

“Were those decisions in her lap?”

“What? No, it’s not like that,” Brandon said, understanding what Jada must have seen. “I dropped the keys to the showroom on the car floor.” Brandon looked into Jada’s sparkling eyes. He saw pain in her eyes. Hurt. He took both her hands, interlacing her fingers with his. It didn’t matter what the plan had been. Instinct took over. His bear knew what he had to do.

“She was helping me with decisions about my future. About our future. I want you to be a part of my life, Jada. I want it more than anything in the world.”

************************

Now didn’t she just feel like the cat’s behind. If Brandon was telling her the truth, and she believed he was, then she had just totally misread the situation. His face wasn’t in that woman’s lap. She was his therapist. But what was troubling him so much that he needed to call up his therapist from the city? Maybe it was those big personal issues he had alluded to earlier. The ones that had caused him to bail on her before prom. Jada was losing her patience. Sooner or later he was going to have to tell her just what those personal issues were. Besides what kind of therapist made house calls? Maybe more to the point, what kind did of therapist made house calls, parked in a car, while looking all done-up like that?

“How can I trust you, Brandon? Therapist or not, how can I trust you when you waltz into my life like this after all these years?”

“I don’t know, Jada. But if you find it in your heart, I’ll make it up to you. I’ll make up all the pain I caused you.”

“Why?”

“Why what?”

“Why are you expending all this energy on me?”

“Don’t you know?”

Jada shook her head.

“Because you’re the one.”

His words hit her deep. Right at the core. She was the one. Jada took a deep breath. She knew she needed to slow down, to reevaluate,

but she wanted to believe him. She did believe him. She had the tingles again, that electric energy that shot straight from the tips of Brandon’s fingers to her spine. She couldn’t believe that a man could have this effect on her. But Brandon wasn’t just any man. Once upon a time, when she was still a girl, she had imagined that he could be hers.

Brandon let go of her hands and went to the showroom door. He locked it with a click. Then he turned off the overhead spots, leaving only the streetlights to cast their glow on the highly buffed sports cars. He came to her.

“Brandon? What are you up to?”

“I need to please you, Jada. I need you to know how I feel.”

He ran his hands up Jada’s back. She thrilled to his touch. Even through the silky fabric of her blouse, his fingers sent sparks through her. Brandon guided her to the front of the nearest car, a shiny, orange Lamborghini. Then he placed his hands lovingly around her waist and sat her on the hood.

She forgot her prior anger and wiggled a little farther up the hood of the sleek race car, her legs dangling over the front bumper. Jada could hardly believe she was in this situation again. One minute Brandon was consorting with who knew who, and the next he was here with her, her behind firmly planted on the hood of a four-hundred-thousand dollar sports car. But she didn’t want to stop him, not when he spoke to her the way he did. The way he talked to her made her feel like the only woman in the world. Brandon moved in close. So close that their lips almost touched.

“Lie back, Jada. I need to make you mine.”

His lips hovered over hers.

“I’m my own woman, Brandon. I may choose to share myself with you, but I’ll never be yours. I’ll never be a possession.”

“No. But you’ll be my mate.”

“Will I?”

“Yes, Jada. You will.”

Okay. Jada wasn’t going to fight that. She lay back. The carbon fiber hood of the car felt surprisingly good on her back as she stretched herself out, out all the way up to the sleek raked windshield. Brandon moved in between her legs. She felt his hardened rod touching her, teasing her.

So hard. So fine.

Brandon planted a strong hand on either side of her and bent low, kissing her neck, almost biting it. But he stopped himself, and instead Jada sensed only a tiny pinch. Brandon moved up to her lips, but this time Jada didn’t wait. She opened her mouth, thrusting her tongue out to meet his. Brandon met her with as much force, maybe more, touching the tip of her tongue with his, probing her mouth hungrily. His feet still firmly planted on the showroom floor, he wrapped his arms around her, kissing her harder and deeper. He ran his fingers up her blouse, removing it.

“Brandon.”

“Relax, my love.”

Brandon unclipped her bra, sliding it over her shoulders as he dropped butterfly kisses along her neck. She felt her nipples harden at the touch of his sweet lips. He bent down lower, licking around them with his tongue, caressing the sensitive skin before taking a whole nipple into his mouth. He bit down gently.

Jada moaned.

“More.”

Jada couldn’t help herself. She reached down for him. The tip of his massive member was already sticking out the top of his jeans and she massaged it downward, undoing the buttons of his jeans with her left hand. She felt him burst out of the denim as the buttons popped open. Brandon was a large man and even larger where it counted.

“I want to taste you, Brandon. I want to taste all of you.”

“Not now, love. I need to be inside of you.”

She felt the dew leaking from his tip and slicking his shaft.

“Relax.”

Jada did her best. She wanted him closer. Brandon hovered over her. His hands were planted on either side of her again, but he wasn’t yet pressing down on her She wanted him on top of her. She wanted to feel his skin touching hers. She wanted him inside of her. Brandon reached down and pulled her stockings down. She wiggled out of her panties as he sank his fingers into her slick folds.
