She turned her
eyes to the floor, unsure that she could face him after that
passionate demonstration. She hadn’t felt that kind of chemistry,
well, ever. She craved more, but didn’t know the right way to ask
for it without sounding like a promiscuous girl, which she was
not.

Skylar reached
for her chin and lifted it up. When she looked into those warm,
whisky eyes, and saw his soft smile, she couldn’t help but
blush.

He let her
face go, but his eyes continued to snare hers. “I’m sorry. I was
taking advantage of you. I won’t let it happen again.”

Is that
what he thought she wanted?
She wanted so much more. When she
took another swig from her bottle, she realized that it was already
empty.

“Oh, wow. Look
at that,” she said. She couldn’t believe she had polished off the
whole bottle. He was easy to talk to and even easier to kiss. Maybe
a little too easy.

Skylar flashed
her slanted smile and teased her. “How did that happen?” He stood
from the sturdy, old couch and went to the fridge for another pair
of beers. After cracking them open he held one out for her.

Destiny
reached out for the drink. She thought she had a good hold on it,
but she was so busy swooning over those sexy eyes that she didn’t
realize her grip wasn’t nearly strong enough for a full bottle. The
bottle tipped and, though Skylar tried to catch it, it poured all
over his light grey hooded shirt, nearly emptying all of its
contents on him.

“Shit!” she
yelped.

Skylar
laughed, obviously shocked by her choice of words, as he fumbled
with the bottle.

“I am so
sorry,” she said, scooping up the wet bottle and holding it
upright. She tried to wipe some of the wetness off of him, but it
had already soaked through the fabric.

Skylar rested
his hand on top of hers. “It’s all good.”

When her eyes
met his, everything felt all good –warm and fuzzy and wet. And if
she hadn’t known just how good he meant, then she most absolutely
did when he lifted his shirt right over his head, exposing the most
glorious male form. Goose bumps scattered over his flesh, but it
was her who was suddenly shivering.

He had words
scrawled across his core and when he turned to grab a towel from
the kitchen, she saw his upper back was covered in the sexiest of
tattoos, adding another layer of raw sex appeal to an already
overworked subject. When he returned to the room, he got onto his
knees and began to dry up the floor, his abs flexing with every
stretch.

Destiny
instantly dropped to her knees and took the towel from his hands.
“It was my fault. I’ll clean it up.”

He let her
take the towel, backed away and stood to his feet. He started
drying his body with his shirt, which was now inside out in his
hands. Destiny scrubbed the floor vigorously with her booty
sticking out. When she looked up at Skylar, his gaze felt like
flames, licking across her body. The way he appreciated her curves
terrified her. But it was not half as terrifying as the thoughts
rolling through her mind.

She was
incredibly intrigued by how her body answered to his appreciation
and her mouth dried at the thought of licking that beer right off
of his every rigid muscle. Destiny had expected that Skylar would
go get another shirt, but instead he strung the wet one out over
the chair and then sat back down with that sexy inked flesh staring
back at her. She continued to polish the floor, long after it was
dry.

Skylar’s eyes
never left her hips. Even when she looked up at him.

“I apologize.
I shouldn’t stare. But you’re a beautiful woman.”

Another shiver
rocked her core, as she tossed the towel onto the coffee table.
Destiny returned to her seat, before she laid herself out on the
floor from the dizzy spell taking her. Skylar had her feeling all
woozy. The liquor was only partly to blame.

“You’re cold,”
Skylar said, noticing the way her body trembled. He seemed very in
tune with her needs. “I can warm you up.”

“I’m okay,”
she said, but he was already pulling her back against his big, warm
chest.

“Okay,” she
said, unable to turn away such a marvellous offer.

She settled
back against him, and wiggled around until her body fit to his like
a puzzle piece. She closed her eyes and took a long, deep breath,
swallowing his natural aroma, while she secretly wished he had
decided to warm her up using another less tasteful method.

Skylar nudged
her head aside and settled his chin on her shoulder. She would have
loved for his soft lips to work their magic on her skin again, but
he made no attempt to seduce her. Already satisfied that she had
found one of the good ones, she rested against him and gave into
her other, more studious, desire - to learn more about him.

Her body
continued to urge her to make a move, but instead she listened and
talked, exchanging bits and pieces of her life with him. Instead of
devouring Skylar, the way her body demanded, she stayed up until
the wee hours of the morning absorbing his soft caress, his sultry
skin and his warm words, wishing she could grow the courage to take
what she needed from him.
Everything.

CHAPTER
SIX

When Skylar came to, he
couldn’t believe it. He still had a beautiful woman resting
peacefully in his arms, and he was happy. He had gone the whole
night without having sex with this girl and she had fallen asleep
in his arms. That was unheard of in the Knight family. Thank God
Matty hadn’t come back, or he would have never heard the end of
it.

No, they
didn’t have sex, but her kisses were like gold. And he was a little
embarrassed by how satisfying it was just to touch her smooth skin,
hear her pleasant voice, and hold her in his arms. He really wanted
to have her, but he recognized her cynical beliefs and decided he’d
be better off playing it safe for now.

He would have
to find a back door into her heart, and slip in there before she
realized what he was doing there. One thing was for sure, he really
liked this woman and he didn’t want to fuck it up.

It was still
early yet, and he had a bit of a kink in his neck, but he didn’t
want to move for fear that she would flee his arms if he did. When
she sighed softly and stretched out on top of him, he knew that his
opportunity to be close to her had passed. When he attempted,
gently, to pull her back down, she casually shrugged him off and
sat up next to him.

“What time is
it?” she asked, with soft, sleepy lips.

“It’s 5:25
a.m.” He had checked his phone and answered her, but was finding it
difficult to look away. Destiny’s silky blonde hair was a wavy mess
and her blue bedroom eyes were breathtaking.

“Oh! That’s
early yet.” She seemed agreeable with more sleep but slightly
surprised to find that her friend hadn’t yet returned. “I wonder
what happened to Felicia.”

“I’m sure she
convinced Matty to spend the night with her at the hotel. It hardly
seems farfetched.”

She nodded,
seeming to accept his suggestion without question. Then she looked
around the vacant room again. For what? He didn’t know.

“Do you have a
bed?”

Her words were
like music to his ears. He promptly took her hand and watched her
eyes as he unhurriedly guided her to his room. It was hardly a
room, more like a closet, but it had two small cots in it and it
had always gotten the job done for the men in his family.

Skylar had
never imagined that he would bring a woman here. He never expected
to find himself stumbling over himself to make this woman
his
either. But there he was, pulling out every trick in the
book to make her swoon over him.

He swept a
hand over her body, appreciating the soft curve of her hips, before
stepping away. “You might want to lose a layer of clothes.”

He saw how
nervous that suggestion had made her, so he softened the blow. “But
that is entirely up to you. I just want you to be comfortable.”

She seemed to
soften to his words and lifted her sweater over her head agreeably.
He couldn’t take his eyes of her, once he saw how her undershirt
clung to her slim waist and perky breasts. Even as she tossed her
sweater onto the floor and glanced up at him, he couldn’t help but
stare. She smiled and turned away, then he saw her small hands
skimming under her shirt to find the clasp on her bra.

He was
mesmerized by the thought of her bare breasts being pressed against
him, as she wiggled the straps of her bra over her shoulders. Then,
after a magical exchange of sleeves, she pulled the lacy garment
out from under her shirt.

“You’re sure
you don’t mind?” she asked, not noticing the way his mouth had
grown dry and hung slack.

If his stunned
gaze wasn’t any indication of his unconditional acceptance, he
didn’t know what would be. The way her nipples protruded from her
fitted white undershirt awakened the beast inside his pants. He
couldn’t let her notice, or she would be running out of there like
the room was on fire. He ripped his eyes away from her, before he
did something he would regret.

“Sit tight for
a minute, alright?”

She didn’t
answer him, when he released her from his gaping eyes, and she
stayed silent while he moseyed around the room to fix their
makeshift bed. Without asking her, Skylar pushed the two small cots
together. He lifted the blanket from one of the beds and tossed it
into a pile on the floor. He quickly draped the other covers over
the two beds, climbed into one and settled down beneath the
blankets.

Just the
thought laying her out on the bed had his libido cranked on
overdrive. He quickly adjusted himself beneath the covers,
realizing that there was only one thing that would fix that
problem. After slipping off his pants and tossing them out from
under the blanket, he opened his arm for her to join him. He only
hoped that she would be willing company.

Destiny
couldn’t stop the flutter in her chest, as she watched Skylar make
their bed. He was concentrating on his task entirely, not knowing
how the flex of his muscles affected her. The way his arousal
pressed against his pants, even though he had tried to hide it,
turned her on like never before. He had been trying to be a
gentleman and had succeeded thus far.

The one man
she wished would be a little less gentle and he was putting up all
the stops, so as not to harm her delicate soul. Destiny shimmied
off her pants when he wasn’t looking. If he wanted her to be
comfortable, then she would get comfortable.

When he
settled in the bed and dropped his own pants, Destiny only hoped
that she could keep her shit together. Then he opened his arm to
her, and it wasn’t in question. Skylar was telling her to come to
him.

Though he
crowded the small bed and his large feet dangled adorably over the
end, she fit on it nicely. Destiny snuggled under the blankets and
drew them up to her chin to chase away the chill that had attacked
her over-sensitized body. She specifically kept a layer of air
between them, careful not to let her skin melt against his.

She didn’t
know what else she could expect, if she were to bury her body
against his, the way she wanted to. She doubted he would be able to
resist her if she did. Did she even want him to resist her? Her
thoughts had her reeling.

How had this
even happened? Snowed in at a secluded cabin. Stranded with this
gorgeous man. And he was still shirtless, with the thickest of
thighs resting right next to her. She tried not to notice how other
parts of his body were equally as hard. It only teased her that
much more.

When Skylar
pulled her back against him, she felt the flesh of that large thigh
on her rear, but she didn’t fight him. She craved his warmth just
like she craved his touch.

Avoiding the
overwhelming sensations attacking her body, she focused on the
bliss that was encompassing her heart. She closed her sleepy eyes
and made an effort to rest, while intimately tucked against
Skylar’s chest. But when he wrapped his arm around her and grasped
onto her hand, her eyes popped back open. Though he couldn’t see
her face, while she watched the way his large hand dwarfed hers, he
had to have known how special that moment had been to her.

Then he
pressed his lips in her hair and she knew she was a goner. With
nothing but a kiss and a few small facts about his family life, she
had fallen for him. And she couldn’t even hide it.

“Thank you for
this,” she whispered.

Why had she
voiced her thoughts?
She wished she could take it back. Skylar
knew she wasn’t talking only about him saving her from a snow
cloud.

Then he
chuckled, and his desirous voice tickled her ear, making her
quickly forget about her embarrassment. “You don’t have to thank
me, Destiny. I only do what I want, and right now I want to be here
with you.”
