CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

~CARSON~

After that last phone call, Geno and I are both in tears.  It was like she was saying goodbye.  She was losing hope.  If she lost hope, she’d stop fighting.  She can’t stop fighting.  There was no way I was losing her.  No way in hell!

“Geno, did she sound okay to you?” I asked nervously.

He shakes his head and takes a deep breath.  “No,” he answered sadly.

Taking a shaky breath, I stared at the house as I waited for the rest of the guys to get here.  “She can’t give up, Geno.  I can’t lose her or my baby,” I choked out.

“We’re going to save them.  Just keep thinking about how you’re going to hold her in arms in just a little bit.  Focus on that.”  Geno said, squeezing my shoulder.

I just nodded my head.  Standing here waiting was probably just as hard as not knowing where she was.  I’m standing only feet from her, my body was twitching to get in
there to kick ass and get my girl.

“What the hell is taking them so long!” I almost screamed.

“Calm down, they are checking around the house to make sure we aren’t surprised by anything.  You have to trust in everyone, Carson.  You want her safe and so do I.  We have to make sure getting her out is just as safe for us as it is for her or this is all pointless.”

“I know, but…”

“I know son.  It’s my daughter in there and my future grandchild.  We just have to keep a level head here.  What was it you kept telling Colleen during the duration of you training her?”

“Complete focus.  Never let emotions or surroundings take your head out of the game.  When you let them in is when you lose your ground and it’s very hard to come back when that happens.” I said sadly.

“You need to remember that.  If we just run in there we could be running into a setup and then what?  Colleen would be hurt and we’d be right there.  That’d be worse than standing here waiting and making sure that there are no surprises right?”

All I could do was nod my head.  I know what Geno was telling me was true and
honestly, it was the same things I told Colleen, in a different context of course.  My heart is barely beating.  This woman took my world away from me and for what?  What was it that she wanted that she had to harm them?

“Fuck!  I brought this on her.  I’m no better than her mother.  This is all happening to her because of me!” I say in a shocked whisper.

“No Carson.  You cannot control the actions of others. There was no time that you led that girl on that you wanted anything to do with her, right?”

I started laughing. “Your daughter said that to me not long ago.”

“That’s my girl,” he grinned.  “Now answer my question.”

No, there wasn’t.  I was already head over heels for Colleen when she came into the picture.”

“Then how can you even think that you have done anything wrong here.  Colleen has told me how you do not even pretend to be nice to her.  There is no way that any of this is on you.  Unfortunately you are just as much a victim in this as Colleen is.”

I walked around my truck and over into a field that sat across from the house.  So many times I have watched the sunset before, but never had it been more beautiful than that first time I watched it with Colleen.  I looked up at the sky and dropped to my knees as the memory of that evening washed over me.  It warmed me like she was still standing in my arms with her head on my shoulders.

“Colleen?  Where are you?”

She still didn’t answer me.  After her being attacked once, it worried me when she didn’t answer. This lady was obviously off her rocker.  I was taking no chances.  My house was safe, but she managed to get into Colleen’s I didn’t know what else she was capable of.

“Colleen?”

Walking in each room, I finally noticed the back deck doors were opened.  Breathing a sigh of relief, I stood in the doorway watching her look at the sky. The colors of the sunset were nothing compared to the breathtaking view that stood before me.  She stood leaning against the railing in nothing but one of my dress shirts.  There was nothing sexier than this view.  Unable to just stand there any longer, I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her pulling her back into my chest.

“Oh,” she jumped a little. “When did you get back?”

“A few minutes ago,” I whispered into her neck as trailed soft kisses down it.

“Mmm,” she moaned.  “You have the most beautiful view here.”

“Yes, I do,” I breathe into her ear.

She leaned back further into me and rubbed her amazing ass against me. A growl escapes me and I spin her around in my
arms, taking her mouth with mine. My hands that held her face moved down her body.  I cupped her ass and lifted her up on the rail.  She wrapped her legs around my waist and started to lift my shirt over my head.  The feel of her hands on me was the best feeling in the world. I moaned as she leaned and began kissing across my bare chest, teasing my nipples and moving back up to my neck.  I closed my eyes and enjoyed the feeling of her lips on my body. My hands running up and down her back until she reached my mouth again, then I moved my hands to the front of her and began to undo the buttons on the shirt.  Once they were all opened, I pushed the shirt from her shoulders and broke from our kiss.

Trailing kisses down her neck and across her shoulder, I growled when her hand touched the front of my pants.  In just a single touch this woman could have me
on my knees.  I loved the feel of her body against mine, but most of all I loved her.

“I need you Carson.  Make love to me right here under the sunset,” she panted.

It was only seconds and all my clothes were off and I was gathering her in my arms again.  I eased into her slowly and relished in the moan I got in response.  She leaned back and I took her breasts in my mouth, sucking and teasing them as I slowly rocked in and out of her.  Her hands tangled in my hair, holding me firmly against her chest.

“Yes,” she moaned.

“Shit,” I growled.

Moving back up, I took her mouth in mine again and picked up the pace of the thrusts.  She felt so fucking amazing wrapped around me like this.  Our moans and heavy breathing filling the night air as we made love on the rail of my back deck. I could feel her clenching around me and it was driving me crazy.

She screams my name into the night as her climax takes her over.  I pound harder and faster into her before finally following her over the edge calling her name out as I emptied myself into her.  Resting my head against her shoulder as I try and regain my breath, my knees start to give
out.  I gathered her in my arms and moved us to one of the lounge chairs on the deck.  She curled into my chest sighing contently.

“That was the best sunset ever.”

“You have that one right,” I laughed.

We laid there and watched the sun
set below the trees in my backyard.  Neither of us saying anything, just watching the colors dance across the sky before giving way to night and the twinkling stars.

“Sunsets always scared me because when night came…” she whispered.

I held her tighter to me. “I never paid attention to sunsets until now.”

“I love sunsets now,” she smiled up at me.

“Mmm, me too.  Let’s see if we can love the night just as much,” I whispered huskily before taking her mouth with mine.

We made love under the stars that night.  It was one of the best nights of my life. She made everything better for me.  I needed her with me again.  Without her, I was empty inside.  Without her with me, I was half the man I was when I was with her.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked up into my brother’s eyes.

“It’s time to get your girl and my sister.” Eli said.

I nodded my head and we walked back over with everyone.

“Now everyone knows the plan right?” Geno says in a commanding voice.

Everyone answered with nods of their heads.  I looked at Geno and he looked back at me clapping his hand on my shoulder.

“You go directly to her.  We will take care of anything we happen to come across along the way.  That is all you need to do.
Focus on saving my daughter, we’ll deal with whatever riff raff that may be in there.”

I nod my head and look at Nate.  “Everything done?”

Nate nodded.  “All clear for go ahead.”

“Let’s go save her then.”

We start heading toward the house when a vehicle started down the street.  We all hurried behind our vehicles and watched as the SUV pulled in the drive and four guys climbed out heading inside.

“Looks like our work just got harder boys.” I said grimly.

“No, Carson your task is the same.  We can handle this.  Let’s move we’re running short on time here.”

We were across the street and by the front door and back door in no time.  We kicked the doors in at the same time and entered the house.  The four muscle bound idiot came right at us and we all went into action. I started to go for one of them when Geno shook his head and pointed for me to go find Colleen.  Nodding my head
, I ran off.

I opened several doors before I finally found the door to the basement.  In my hurry to get down the stairs, I’m not even sure how many of the steps I actually touched.  As I opened the
door, I heard her scream then nothing. When I got to the bottom of the steps, I saw a light shining at the end of a long hallway.

“I’m going to enjoy this.” I hear
coming from the room.

When I got to the room, I saw a big man naked stepping between her legs and I saw fear
in her eyes.

“Get the fuck away from her!” I roared.

Colleen’s head whipped to face me and I watched the tears fall down her cheeks.

“Get the fuck out of here! She’s mine!”

I roared and ran for the man. My fist flew out making contact with his face hard enough that he flipped off the end of the bed and landed on the floor.  I moved to Colleen and pulled the gag from her mouth.

I tried to cover her up as much as I could. “I love you.”

Her eyes widened and I knew the guy must have gotten up off the floor.  I turned just in time to get knocked in the head with his large fist. I stumbled sideways, but regained quickly.  The rage pouring through me was overpowering and I went back at the guy with everything I had.  I hit and kicked anywhere my fists or feet would land.  Judging by the look on his face, he wasn’t expecting me to be able to fight him like this.

“I’m not the reigning world champion kickboxer because of my looks asshole!”

“Shit…” was the last thing he said before I knocked his ass out cold.

Breathing heavy, I moved back over to
Colleen, who was crying.

“Shhh I have you baby.  I have you.  No one is going to hurt you anymore.”

I hollered for someone to get their asses down here, but I could still hear a lot of noise coming from upstairs. I looked at the frame and at her.

Angel, I’m going to have to break the frame to get you free. I need you to stay as still as possible. Okay?”

She just nodded her head. I kissed her lips tenderly before pulling the bed away from the wall and out to where I could access both bed posts.  Channeling everything that I have felt since discovering her missing, I finally managed to break the posts free and her cuffs slid off.  Pulling my shirt over my head, I put it on her and lifted her up into my arms. She cried into my neck and I cried into her hair.  We stayed there for a few moments just enjoying the fact that we were back together.

Walking upstairs with her in my arms, my heart was racing.  I knew what I walked in on, but was there more.  Had she been… I shook the thoughts from my head.  She was in my arms now and that is all that matters to me.

The minute I got upstairs Jackson was next to me.
“Do I want to know why she is wearing your shirt?”  He asked grimly.

I shook my head and turned to Nate. “There’s a guy downstairs…he’s out cold, but he needs clothes on before he’s hauled out of there.”

Colleen held me tighter and started shaking in my arms. “It’s okay, Angel.  I have you now.”

I continued out the door with her.  I just reached the end of the steps when an ambulance pulled up.  I was at the back door the minute they stopped.  They popped the doors
opened and I stepped inside. I laid her down on the gurney.  She was sleeping.  I walked out to talk to the police that just arrived when she started screaming.  I ran back to the ambulance to hear her screaming my name.

“Hey, shhhh I’m right here
Angel.”

“You left me.”

“No, I was just outside talking to the police. I’d never leave you.”

“Just hold me and never let me go…please” She sobbed.

“I will never let you go,” I whispered.

Holding her and listening to her cry like this had tears pooling in my own eyes.  I blinked them back and looked at the EMT.  “Does she need to go to the hospital?”
