“A toast!” Cole says as the group disperses, shuffling around the table to find their seats. “To family!” he says, solemn now, a shimmer of tears in his eyes as he looks around the room.

“To family,” they echo, Maggie and Sylvie both wiping a tear from their own eyes as one by one everyone raises their glasses to their lips.
